18 namely, Jerusalem and the cities of Judah and her kings, her princes, to make them a devastated place, an object of astonishment,+ something to whistle at and a malediction, just as at this day;+

8 And I must set my face against that man*+ and place him for a sign+ and for proverbial sayings,+ and I must cut him off from the midst of my people;+ and YOU people will have to know that I am Jehovah.”’+

11 Now these things went on befalling them as examples,* and they were written for a warning+ to us upon whom the ends* of the systems of things*+ have arrived.
