28 And he continued there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights. He ate no bread and he drank no water.+ And he* proceeded to write upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Words.*+

18 And I proceeded to prostrate myself before Jehovah, as at first, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water,+ because of all YOUR sin that YOU had committed in doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah so as to offend him.+

2 After he had fasted forty days and forty nights,+ then he felt hungry.
