21 Now there came to be a famine+ in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David proceeded to consult the face of Jehovah. Then Jehovah said: “Upon Saul and upon his house there is bloodguilt,* because he put the Gibʹe·on·ites to death.”+

17 lofty eyes,+ a false tongue,+ and hands that are shedding innocent blood,+

13 The fear of Jehovah means the hating of bad.+ Self-exaltation and pride+ and the bad way and the perverse mouth+ I have hated.

4 ‘I have caused it to go forth,’ is the utterance of Jehovah of armies, ‘and it must enter into the house of the thief and into the house of the one making a sworn oath in my name falsely;+ and it must lodge in the midst of his house and exterminate it and its timbers and its stones.’”+

17 And calamity to one another do not YOU scheme up in YOUR hearts,+ and do not love any false oath;+ for these are all things that I have hated,’+ is the utterance of Jehovah.”

5 “And I will come near to YOU people for the judgment,+ and I will become a speedy witness+ against the sorcerers,+ and against the adulterers,*+ and against those swearing falsely,+ and against those acting fraudulently with the wages of a wage worker,+ with [the] widow+ and with [the] fatherless boy,+ and those turning away the alien resident,+ while they have not feared me,”+ Jehovah of armies has said.
