15 you should without fail set over yourself a king whom Jehovah your God will choose.+ From among your brothers you should set a king over yourself. You will not be allowed to put over yourself a foreigner who is not your brother.

6 Subsequently all the landowners of Sheʹchem and all the house of Milʹlo+ gathered together and went and made A·bimʹe·lech reign as king,+ close by the big tree,+ the pillar that was in Sheʹchem.+

15 At this the bramble said to the trees, ‘If it is in truth that YOU are anointing me as king over YOU, come, seek refuge under my shadow.+ But if not, let fire+ come out of the bramble and consume the cedars+ of Lebʹa·non.’+
