15 In turn he said to him: “Excuse me, Jehovah.* With what shall I save Israel?+ Look! My thousand* is the least in Ma·nasʹseh, and I am the smallest in my father’s house.”+

34 If it has to do with ridiculers,+ he himself will deride;+ but to the meek ones he will show favor.+

2 Has presumptuousness come? Then dishonor will come;+ but wisdom is with the modest ones.+

12 Before a crash the heart of a man is lofty,+ and before glory there is humility.+

4 The result of humility [and] the fear of Jehovah is riches and glory and life.+

11 For everyone that exalts himself will be humbled and he that humbles himself will be exalted.”+

6 However, the undeserved kindness which he gives is greater.+ Hence it says: “God opposes the haughty ones,+ but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.”+

5 In like manner, YOU younger men, be in subjection+ to the older men. But all of YOU gird yourselves with lowliness of mind toward one another,+ because God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.+
