18 And it came about that, as soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, Jonʹa·than’s*+ very soul became bound+ up with the soul of David, and Jonʹa·than began to love him as his own soul.+

4 And David went on to say to him: “How did the matter turn out? Tell me, please.” To this he said: “The people have fled from the battle and also many of the people have fallen so that they died,+ and even Saul+ and Jonʹa·than+ his son have died.”

7 However, the king felt compassion upon Me·phibʹo·sheth+ the son of Jonʹa·than the son of Saul on account of the oath+ of Jehovah that was between them, between David and Jonʹa·than the son of Saul.
