16 ‘From the day that I brought my people Israel out from Egypt I have not chosen+ a city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house+ for my name+ to continue there; but I shall choose David to come to be over my people Israel.’+

36 And to his son I shall give one tribe, in order that David my servant may continue having a lamp always before me in Jerusalem,+ the city that I have chosen for myself to put my name there.+

13 And King Re·ho·boʹam continued to make his position strong in Jerusalem and kept reigning; for Re·ho·boʹam+ was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and for seventeen years he reigned in Jerusalem, the city+ that Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there.+ And his mother’s name was Naʹa·mah+ the Amʹmon·it·ess.+
