5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them,*+ because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion,*+ bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons,* upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation,* in the case of those who hate me;+

18 And I have let seven thousand remain in Israel,+ all the knees that have not bent down to Baʹal,+ and every mouth that has not kissed+ him.”

35 when Jehovah concluded a covenant+ with them and commanded them, saying: “YOU must not fear other gods,+ and YOU must not bow down to them nor serve them* nor sacrifice to them.+
