15 As he was going along from there he got to encounter Je·honʹa·dab*+ the son of Reʹchab+ [coming] to meet him. When he blessed+ him, he accordingly said to him: “Is your heart upright with me, just as my own heart is with your heart?”+

To this Je·honʹa·dab said: “It is.”

“If it is, do give me your hand.”

So he gave him his hand. At that he made him get up into the chariot with him.+

6 But they said: “We shall drink no wine, because Jonʹa·dab the son of Reʹchab,+ our forefather, was the one that laid the command upon us, saying, ‘YOU must drink no wine, neither YOU nor YOUR sons, to time indefinite.+

19 therefore this is what Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, has said: “There will not be cut off from Jonʹa·dab the son of Reʹchab a man to stand*+ before me always.”’”*+
