19 In the abundance of words there does not fail to be transgression,+ but the one keeping his lips in check is acting discreetly.+

13 By the transgression of the lips the bad person is ensnared,+ but the righteous one gets out of distress.+

7 The mouth of the stupid one is the ruin of him,+ and his lips are a snare for his soul.+

36 I tell YOU that every unprofitable saying that men speak, they will render an account+ concerning it on Judgment Day;

26 If any man seems to himself* to be a formal worshiper*+ and yet does not bridle his tongue,+ but goes on deceiving his own heart,+ this man’s form of worship is futile.+

9 With it we bless Jehovah,*+ even [the] Father,+ and yet with it we curse+ men who have come into existence “in the likeness of God.”+

16 These men are murmurers,+ complainers about their lot in life,* proceeding according to their own desires,+ and their mouths speak swelling things,+ while they are admiring personalities*+ for the sake of [their own] benefit.
