47 This is what proved to be the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Phi·lisʹtines+ before Pharʹaoh proceeded to strike down Gaʹza.+

16 therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Here I am stretching out my hand against the Phi·lisʹtines,+ and I will cut off the Cherʹe·thites+ and destroy the rest of the seacoast.+

4 “And, also, what do YOU have to do with me,* O Tyre and Siʹdon+ and all YOU regions of Phi·lisʹti·a?+ Is it the treatment that YOU are giving me as a reward? And if YOU are giving such treatment to me, swiftly, speedily I shall pay back YOUR treatment upon YOUR heads.+

6 “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘“On account of three revolts of Gaʹza,+ and on account of four, I shall not turn it back, on account of their taking into exile a complete body of exiles+ to hand over to Eʹdom.+

4 For, as regards Gaʹza, an abandoned [city] is what she will become;+ and Ashʹke·lon is to be a desolate waste.+ As regards Ashʹdod,+ at high noon they will drive her out;+ and as regards Ekʹron, she will be uprooted.+

5 Ashʹke·lon will see and get afraid; and as for Gaʹza, she will also feel very severe pains; Ekʹron+ also, because her looked-for hope+ will have to experience shame. And a king will certainly perish from Gaʹza, and Ashʹke·lon herself will not be inhabited.+
