16 But they were continually making jest+ at the messengers of the [true] God and despising his words+ and mocking+ at his prophets, until the rage+ of Jehovah came up against his people, until there was no healing.+

30 and YOU say, ‘If we were in the days of our forefathers, we would not be sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.’+

23 Rejoice in that day and leap, for, look! YOUR reward is great in heaven, for those are the same things their forefathers used to do to the prophets.+

52 Which one of the prophets did YOUR forefathers not persecute?+ Yes, they killed+ those who made announcement in advance concerning the coming of the righteous One,+ whose betrayers and murderers YOU have now become,+

15 who killed even the Lord Jesus+ and the prophets+ and persecuted us.+ Furthermore, they are not pleasing God, but are against [the interests of] all men,

37 They were stoned,+ they were tried,+ they were sawn asunder, they died+ by slaughter with the sword, they went about in sheepskins,+ in goatskins, while they were in want,+ in tribulation,+ under ill-treatment;+

10 Brothers, take as a pattern+ of the suffering of evil+ and the exercising of patience+ the prophets,+ who spoke in the name of Jehovah.*+
