1 ᾿Αρχὴ Beginning τοῦ of the εὐαγγελίου good news Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ. 9 καὶ And ἔλεγεν he was saying αὐτοῖς to them Καλῶς Finely ἀθετεῖτε YOU are setting aside τὴν the ἐντολὴν commandment τοῦ of the θεοῦ, God, ἵνα in order that τὴν the παράδοσιν tradition ὑμῶν of YOU τηρήσητε· YOU might observe; 10 Μωυσῆς Moses γὰρ for εἶπεν said Τίμα Be honoring τὸν the πατέρα father σου of you καὶ and τὴν the μητέρα mother σου, of you, καί and Ὁ The (one) κακολογῶν saying bad at πατέρα father ἢ or μητέρα mother θανάτῳ to death τελευτάτω· let him decrease; 11 ὑμεῖς YOU δὲ but λέγετε are saying ᾿Εὰν If ever εἴπῃ should say ἄνθρωπος man τῷ to the πατρὶ father ἢ or τῇ to the μητρί mother Κορβάν, Corban, ὅ which ἐστιν is Δῶρον, Gift, ὃ which ἐὰν if ever ἐξ out of ἐμοῦ me ὠφεληθῇς, you might be benefited, 12 οὐκέτι not yet ἀφίετε YOU are letting go off αὐτὸν him οὐδὲν nothing ποιῆσαι to do τῷ to the πατρὶ father ἢ or τῇ to the μητρί, mother, 13 ἀκυροῦντες [YOU] invalidating τὸν the λόγον word τοῦ of the θεοῦ God τῇ to the παραδόσει tradition ὑμῶν of YOU ᾗ which παρεδώκατε· YOU gave beside; καὶ and παρόμοια similar (things) τοιαῦτα such πολλὰ many ποιεῖτε. YOU are doing. 14 Καὶ And προσκαλεσάμενος having called toward himself πάλιν again τὸν the ὄχλον crowd ἔλεγεν he was saying αὐτοῖς to them ᾿Ακούσατέ Hear YOU μου of me πάντες all καὶ and σύνετε. be YOU comprehending. 15 οὐδὲν Nothing ἔστιν is ἔξωθεν from outside τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man εἰσπορευόμενον going its way in εἰς into αὐτὸν him ὃ which δύναται is able κοινῶσαι to make common αὐτόν· him; ἀλλὰ but τὰ the (things) ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου man ἐκπορευόμενά going their way out ἐστιν is τὰ the (things) κοινοῦντα making common τὸν the ἄνθρωπον. man. 16 —— ——

32 ῏Ησαν They were δὲ but ἐν in τῇ the ὁδῷ way ἀναβαίνοντες stepping up εἰς into Ἰεροσόλυμα, Jerusalem, καὶ and ἦν he was προάγων going before αὐτοὺς them ὁ the Ἰησοῦς, Jesus, καὶ and ἐθαμβοῦντο, they were being astonished, οἱ the (ones) δὲ but ἀκολουθοῦντες following ἐφοβοῦντο. were being fearful. καὶ And παραλαβὼν having taken along πάλιν again τοὺς the δώδεκα twelve ἤρξατο he started αὐτοῖς to them λέγειν to be saying τὰ the (things) μέλλοντα being about αὐτῷ to him συμβαίνειν to be befalling ὅτι that 33 Ἰδοὺ Look! ἀναβαίνομεν We are stepping up εἰς into Ἰεροσόλυμα, Jerusalem, καὶ and ὁ the υἱὸς Son τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man παραδοθήσεται will be given over τοῖς to the ἀρχιερεῦσιν chief priests καὶ and τοῖς to the γραμματεῦσιν, scribes, καὶ and κατακρινοῦσιν they will judge down αὐτὸν him θανάτῳ to death καὶ and παραδώσουσιν will give over αὐτὸν him τοῖς to the ἔθνεσιν nations 34 καὶ and ἐμπαίξουσιν they will make fun of αὐτῷ him καὶ and ἐμπτύσουσιν will spit on αὐτῷ him καὶ and μαστιγώσουσιν will scourge αὐτὸν him καὶ and ἀποκτενοῦσιν, will kill, καὶ and μετὰ after τρεῖς three ἡμέρας days ἀναστήσεται. he will stand up.

YOU are erring.

Καὶ And ὁ the πολὺς much ὄχλος crowd ἤκουεν was hearing αὐτοῦ of him ἡδέως. with pleasure. 38 Καὶ And ἐν in τῇ the διδαχῇ teaching αὐτοῦ of him ἔλεγεν he was saying Βλέπετε Be YOU looking at ἀπὸ from τῶν the γραμματέων scribes τῶν the (ones) θελόντων willing ἐν in στολαῖς robes περιπατεῖν to walk about καὶ and ἀσπασμοὺς greetings ἐν in ταῖς the ἀγοραῖς marketplaces 39 καὶ and πρωτοκαθεδρίας front seats ἐν in ταῖς the συναγωγαῖς synagogues καὶ and πρωτοκλισίας front reclining places ἐν in τοῖς the δείπνοις, suppers, 40 οἱ the (ones) κατέσθοντες eating down τὰς the οἰκίας houses τῶν of the χηρῶν widows καὶ and προφάσει to pretense μακρὰ long προσευχόμενοι· praying; οὗτοι these λήμψονται will receive περισσότερον more abundant κρίμα. judgment.

41 Καὶ And καθίσας having sat down κατέναντι opposite τοῦ the γαζοφυλακίου treasure guard ἐθεώρει he was viewing πῶς how ὁ the ὄχλος crowd βάλλει is throwing χαλκὸν copper [money] εἰς into τὸ the γαζοφυλάκιον· treasure guard; καὶ and πολλοὶ many πλούσιοι rich ones ἔβαλλον were throwing πολλά· many [coins]; 42 καὶ and ἐλθοῦσα having come μία one χήρα widow πτωχὴ poor ἔβαλεν threw λεπτὰ lepta δύο, two, ὅ which ἐστιν is κοδράντης. quadrans. 43 καὶ And προσκαλεσάμενος having called toward himself τοὺς the μαθητὰς disciples αὐτοῦ of him εἶπεν he said αὐτοῖς to them ᾿Αμὴν Amen λέγω I am saying ὑμῖν to YOU ὅτι that ἡ the χήρα widow αὕτη this ἡ the πτωχὴ poor πλεῖον more πάντων of all (ones) ἔβαλεν threw τῶν of the (ones) βαλλόντων throwing εἰς into τὸ the γαζοφυλάκιον· treasure guard; 44 πάντες all γὰρ for ἐκ out of τοῦ the περισσεύοντος abounding αὐτοῖς to them ἔβαλον, threw, αὕτη this (one) δὲ but ἐκ out of τῆς the ὑστερήσεως want αὐτῆς of her πάντα all (things) ὅσα as many as εἶχεν she was having ἔβαλεν, threw, ὅλον whole τὸν the βίον living αὐτῆς. of her.

24 ᾿Αλλὰ But ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς the ἡμέραις days μετὰ after τὴν the θλίψιν tribulation ἐκείνην that ὁ the ἥλιος sun σκοτισθήσεται, will be darkened, καὶ and ἡ the σελήνη moon οὐ not δώσει will give τὸ the φέγγος shining αὐτῆς, of it, 25 καὶ and οἱ the ἀστέρες stars ἔσονται will be ἐκ out of τοῦ the οὐρανοῦ heavens πίπτοντες, falling, καὶ and αἱ the δυνάμεις powers αἱ the (ones) ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς heavens σαλευθήσονται. will be shaken. 26 καὶ And τότε then ὄψονται they will see τὸν the υἱὸν Son τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν in νεφέλαις clouds μετὰ with δυνάμεως power πολλῆς much καὶ and δόξης· glory; 27 καὶ and τότε then ἀποστελεῖ he will send off τοὺς the ἀγγέλους angels καὶ and ἐπισυνάξει will lead together τοὺς the ἐκλεκτοὺς chosen (ones) αὐτοῦ of him ἐκ out of τῶν the τεσσάρων four ἀνέμων winds ἀπ’ from ἄκρου extremity γῆς of earth ἕως until ἄκρου extremity οὐρανοῦ. of heaven.

28 ᾿Απὸ From δὲ but τῆς the συκῆς fig tree μάθετε learn YOU τὴν the παραβολήν· parable; ὅταν whenever ἤδη already ὁ the κλάδος branch αὐτῆς of it ἁπαλὸς tender γένηται should become καὶ and ἐκφύῃ should produce out τὰ the φύλλα, leaves, γινώσκετε YOU are knowing ὅτι that ἐγγὺς near τὸ the θέρος summer ἐστίν· is; 29 οὕτως thus καὶ also ὑμεῖς, YOU, ὅταν whenever ἴδητε YOU should see ταῦτα these (things) γινόμενα, happening, γινώσκετε YOU are knowing ὅτι that ἐγγύς near ἐστιν he is ἐπὶ upon θύραις. doors. 30 ἀμὴν Amen λέγω I am saying ὑμῖν to YOU ὅτι that οὐ not μὴ not παρέλθῃ should pass away ἡ the γενεὰ generations αὕτη this μέχρις until οὗ which [time] ταῦτα these (things) πάντα all γένηται. should happen. 31 ὁ The οὐρανὸς heaven καὶ and ἡ the γῆ earth παρελεύσονται, will pass away, οἱ the δὲ but λόγοι words μου of me οὐ not παρελεύσονται. will pass away.

32 Περὶ About δὲ but τῆς the ἡμέρας day ἐκείνης that ἢ or τῆς the ὥρας hour οὐδεὶς no one οἶδεν, has known, οὐδὲ neither οἱ the ἄγγελοι angels ἐν in οὐρανῷ heaven οὐδὲ nor ὁ the υἱός, Son, εἰ if μὴ not ὁ the πατήρ.
