b The Koran says: “His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter.” (Sura 3:45) As a human, Jesus was Mary’s son. But what father was responsible? The Koran notes: “The similitude of Jesus before God is as that of Adam.” (Sura 3:59) The Holy Scriptures speak of Adam as a “son of God.” (Luke 3:23, 38) Neither Adam nor Jesus had a human father; neither resulted from sexual relations with a woman. Accordingly, as Adam was a son of God, so was Jesus.
