Footnote
c This expression may refer only to the “land” now relieved of oppression. Compare the regional use of the word “land” at Judges 1:27, 31-33. Or the expression may mean no further disturbance ‘from that quarter,’ in this case, Moab. As noted, the Biblical record does not say that Ehud judged for 80 years. The oppression by Jabin, apparently affecting primarily the northern tribes of Israel, is stated to have begun after Ehud’s death, not after the 80 years. (Judg. 3:30; 4:1, 2) However, while it seems certain that some of the periods mentioned in the book of Judges were concurrent rather than successive, the example given in this chart is simply an illustration of a possibility and is not intended to be viewed as definite.
