Footnote

c See also Berosus, a Babylonian priest of Bel, about 250 B.C.E. He wrote about his people with the aid of cuneiform sources, but wrote in Greek. His works have disappeared, but the Jewish historian Josephus and also historian Eusebius Pamphilius have preserved fragments of Berosus’ writings. See Contra Apionem, Book I, section 20, by Josephus. The International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia, edition of 1955, Volume 1, page 368a, says Nabonidus was imprisoned.
