b On the crater of the Rano Raraku volcano, there are many petroglyphs. The starting point of a competition among those who wanted to rule the island was located on Rano Kau. It consisted in going down the cliff, swimming to one of the small islands, fetching an egg of a local bird, swimming back to the main island, and climbing up the cliff with the egg undamaged.
