Jewish tradition confirms that Jeremiah was the writer of First and Second Kings. No doubt he began the compilation of both books in Jerusalem, and it appears that the second book was completed in Egypt about 580 B.C.E., since he refers to events of that year in the conclusion of his record. (2 Ki. 25:27)
