⁵ The first Sunday and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month are special field service days. We suggest that you reserve these days, especially, for sharing in the field ministry. Note that the Society’s calendar marks these days, reminding us that they afford special opportunities for service.

⁶ Our purpose in preaching involves more than just leaving literature with interested persons. To make disciples, we must make return visits. Renew your conversation by referring to the previous visit, mentioning some of the points you discussed. Have something specific in mind from the publication that you want to highlight. This will make the person aware of the value of the literature and perhaps provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate a Bible study.

⁷ What a joy it is to see so many accepting the truth! By our fearlessly preaching the Word of God, we show our love for Jehovah and his Son. Enthusiasm for this preaching commission will help us resist Satan’s attacks and show “all the more courage to speak the word of God fearlessly.”​—Phil. 1:14.

Benefiting Fully From The Watchtower and Awake!

¹ They keep watch on world happenings that fulfill Bible prophecy. They probe beneath the surface and point to the real meaning behind current events. They point to the Bible and also show us how to cope with today’s problems. Most importantly, they build confidence in Jehovah as the only true God and identify his true organization on earth. They are The Watchtower and Awake! Are you benefiting fully from them?

HOW WE BENEFIT

² When we have personal subscriptions, we are assured of getting every magazine in advance of the issue date, thus allowing us to examine them carefully before offering them in the field. Home delivery of the magazines is spaced evenly, approximately one issue per week, providing a steady supply of spiritual food and at the same time allowing for a balanced schedule for reading. Children can also benefit by having their personal subscriptions. If you have not already subscribed, give serious thought to doing so this very week.

³ When received, each issue stirs a certain measure of expectation. But what then? Do you merely flip through the magazine, noting the titles and the illustrations, or do you sit down and read at least one or two articles immediately and then all the rest just as soon as you can?

⁴ Often there is new understanding, a different approach or new congregational procedures explained in The Watchtower. This important information can be found in the study articles as well as in those generally referred to as secondary. Do you mark new points and other important information for future reference? Do you save a copy of each issue for your personal library? Doing this will increase appreciation of these fountains of upbuilding information, The Watchtower and Awake!

OCTOBER OFFER

⁵ Once again during October, subscriptions to Awake! or The Watchtower, or both, will be our literature offer. If we personally are convinced of the unique value of these magazines and have benefited fully from reading them ourselves, we will offer them to others with sincere and convincing enthusiasm. They are the only magazines in the world that point the way to life. We can say this with full confidence. Perhaps many others will benefit fully from The Watchtower and Awake! if they respond to our invitation to subscribe.

Looking Ahead to the December Campaign With the Bible

The Society is preparing a 1984 edition of the bi12 (regular-size) Bible in English with marginal references for use in the December Bible campaign. In addition to placing it in the field, no doubt publishers would like to have a copy of this edition for their own use. Having this in mind, congregations may place their orders beginning September 1, 1984. No more of the 1981 edition Bible will be sent to congregations. Congregations that have a stock of Bibles with either black or green covers should endeavor to move them off their shelves before the new stock is received. If you have an excess stock of any of these Bibles, please contact nearby congregations who may be in need of Bibles and arrange a transfer of some of your stock to them.

The cost for the various Bibles will be as follows:

1971 edition in English (green cover) (Congregation and public: $2.50; pioneers: $1.25)

1981 edition (black cover) (Congregation and public: $3.00; pioneers: $1.50)

1984 edition (Congregation and public: $3.50; pioneers: $1.75)

October: One-year subscription for either Awake! or The Watchtower, or both, for contribution of $4.00 each. Six-month subscriptions are $2.00. November: Survival Into a New Earth, for contribution of $1.00. December: New World Translation with any older 192-page book, for contribution of $3.50, $4.00 or $4.50, depending on which Bible is offered. ● There will be no special public talks in January and February 1985. Congregations should plan to use talks from the regular series during that time.

● The presiding overseer or someone assigned by him should audit the congregation accounts on September 1 or as soon as possible thereafter.

● We are pleased to announce that a new Cost List has been prepared. Four copies are being sent to each congregation. The secretary should keep one copy. The other three should be given to the brothers caring for the literature, magazines and accounts.

● NOTE: The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures​—Reference Bible (Rbi-8) in English, which was released at the district convention, will not be in stock until December 1984. So please do not order until then.
