Acts (The Things the Apostle Dem Do)
7 But the high priest say: “This thing dem they saying da true?” 2 Stephen say: “My people, my brother and father dem, yor listen. The God who get honor appear to our great grandpa Abraham when he wor still in Mes·o·po·ta′mi·a, before he started living in Ha′ran, 3 and he tell him say: ‘Leave your land and your family and go to the place where I will show you.’ 4 Then he leave the land of the Chal·de′ans and went to live in Ha′ran. After his pa die, God make him to come live in the land where yor living now. 5 And he not give him any land to be his property, no, he not even give him place to put his foot. But he promise to give it to him, and after him to give it to his children even though he wor not having any child. 6 Also, God tell him da his children dem will live on one land da not for them and the people will make them slave and suffer them for 400 years. 7 And God say, ‘the country da will make yor slave I will judge them, and after this thing dem happen, your children will be free from da land and they will worship me in this place.’
8 “God also make one agreement with Abraham for him to circumcise all his boy children. He circumcise his son Isaac eight days after he wor born. Isaac born Jacob, and Jacob born our 12 great grandpa dem. 9 And our great grandpa dem wor jealous of their brother Joseph and they sell him in Egypt. But God wor with him, 10 and God save him from all his sufferings and make him wise. Then he made Phar′aoh who wor king in Egypt to be happy with him. And Phar′aoh choose him to be over Egypt and his whole house. 11 But food business wor hard all over in Egypt and Ca′naan. Yes, da wor serious suffering, and our great grandpa dem wor not able to find anything to eat. 12 But Jacob hear da food wor in Egypt, so he send our great grandpa dem there for the first time. 13 When they went there the second time, Joseph show hisself to his brother dem, and Phar′aoh got to know Joseph family. 14 So Joseph send message to his pa Jacob, for all his family dem to leave from Ca′naan and come to Egypt. And da 75 persons came to Egypt. 15 So Jacob went to Egypt, and he die there. And da the same place all our great grandpa dem die too. 16 They carry them to She′chem and bury them in the grave da Abraham buy with silver money from Ha′mor children dem in She′chem.
17 “When the time wor reaching for what God promise Abraham to happen, the people continue to get plenty in Egypt. 18 Then another king started ruling over Egypt, but he never knew Joseph. 19 This king made wicked plan against our great grandpa dem and treat them bad. He force them to leave their young baby dem to die. 20 Da the same time they born Moses, and he wor really fine in God eye. His ma take care of him for 3 months in his pa house. 21 But when they wor force to leave him, Phar′aoh daughter find him and take care of him like her own son. 22 So they teach Moses all the wisdom da wor in Egypt. In fact, all the thing dem he use to say and do show da he wor having power.
23 “And when he wor 40 years old, he decide to visit his brother dem, the Israelites. 24 When he saw the Egyptian man treating one Israelite bad, he fight for him and kill the Egyptian man. 25 He wor thinking da his brother dem will understand da God wor using him to save them, but they not understand it. 26 The next day he saw two of them fighting, and he try to make peace between them and he say: ‘Yor brothers, why yor treating each other bad?’ 27 But the one who wor treating his brother bad push Moses and tell him say: ‘Who make you ruler and judge over us? 28 You want kill me too the same way you kill the Egyptian man yesterday?’ 29 When Moses hear this one, he run away from Egypt and went to live in Mid′i·an and he born two sons there.
30 “After 40 years, one angel appear to him in the fire da wor burning the thornbush in the wilderness around Mount Si′nai. 31 Moses wor really surprise when he saw it. But when he wor going to see what wor happening, he hear Jehovah voice: 32 ‘I the God for your great grandpa dem, the God for Abraham, the God for Isaac, and the God for Jacob.’ Moses started trembling and he wor scare to go look there again. 33 Jehovah tell him say: ‘Take off the sandals from on your foot because the place you standing da holy ground. 34 I na see how my people suffering in Egypt, and I na hear them crying for help, and I na come save them. So come, let me send you to Egypt.’ 35 The same Moses they push on one side and say: ‘Who make you ruler and judge over us?’ da the same Moses God send to be their ruler and to save them through the angel who appear to him in the thornbush. 36 He carry them, and he do wonderful thing dem and perform miracles in Egypt, to the Red Sea and in the wilderness for 40 years.
37 “Da the same Moses who tell the Israelite dem say: ‘God will choose someone to be prophet like me from among your brother dem.’ 38 Da the same person who wor among the congregation in the wilderness. He wor there with the angel who talk to him and our great grandpa dem on Mount Si′nai. God give him the holy message da can give life for him to give it to us. 39 Our great grandpa dem refuse to obey him and they say they not want him. And in their hearts, they wanted to go back to Egypt. 40 They tell Aaron say: ‘fix gods for us da will go in front of us. Because we not know what happen to this Moses who take us from Egypt.’ 41 So da time, they fix one false god da wor looking like young cow and they bring sacrifice to it and started enjoying theirself with the thing dem they fix. 42 So God left them and he allow them to worship the sun, the moon and the star dem da in heaven, just how the prophet dem write it in the book: ‘People in Israel, yor make sacrifice dem for 40 years in the wilderness, but da not me yor wor giving it to. 43 But yor carry the tent for Mo′loch and the star for the god they call Re′phan. And they made false god dem da looking like Mo′loch and Re′phan to worship. So I will carry yor all the way behind Babylon.’
44 “Our great grandpa dem wor having the tent da show da God wor with them. God tell Moses to fix it and they fix it in line with the plan da God show him. 45 Later on, our great grandpa dem take this tent and bring it with them when they came with Joshua in the land da wor for the other nation dem. God drive this nation dem from in front of our great grandpa dem. And the tent stay there until David time. 46 God wor happy with David, and David ask him to give him the honor to build the place where the God for Jacob will stay. 47 But da Solʹo·mon build the house for him. 48 But the Most High can’t stay in house da people build with their hands, just how the prophet say it: 49 ‘The heaven da my throne, and the earth da the place I can rest my foot. So what kindna house yor will build for me? Da what Jehovah say. Or where place I will stay? 50 Da my hand make all this thing dem, ehn da true?’
51 “Yor stubborn and hardhead, yor always going against the holy spirit, just what yor great grandpa dem use to do, da what yor doing. 52 Which one of the prophet dem yor great grandpa dem not treat bad? Yes, they kill the people dem who say before time da the righteous one will come. Yor sell him and yor kill him. 53 God use his angel dem to give yor this Law, but yor not obey it.”
54 When they hear this one, they got vex bad way and they started to grind their teeth. 55 But the holy spirit wor on him, and he look in heaven and saw God glory and Jesus wor standing on God right hand side, 56 and he say: “I see the heaven open and the Son of man standing on God right hand side.” 57 When they hear this one they started shouting with loud voice and they cover their ears with their hands and all of them rush to him. 58 After they throw him outside the city, they started chunking him with rock. One young man they call Saul wor standing there and the people who lie on Stephen put their clothes near him. 59 When they wor still chunking Stephen, he beg and say: “Lord Jesus, I give my life to you.” 60 Then he kneel down and talk with strong voice and say: “Jehovah, don’t punish them for this sin.” And after he say this one, he die.*
