Acts (The Things the Apostle Dem Do)
17 Then they travel through Am·phipʹo·lis and Ap·ol·loʹni·a and came to Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, where they wor having one synagogue for the Jews. 2 So Paul went inside to them just how he use to do, and for three sabbath days he use the Scriptures to help them to understand. 3 He explain and use the Scriptures to show da it wor important for the Christ to suffer and to come back to life. He say: “This Jesus who I telling yor about, da he the Christ.” 4 Because of da, some of them accept the good news and they join Paul and Silas. And plenty Greek people who wor serving God, and plenty women da important also join them too.
5 But the Jews wor jealous, and they put some wicked men dem together who wor just in the market doing nothing. And they made one group da turn the city upside down. They attack Jaʹson house and they wor looking for Paul and Silas to bring them to the group. 6 When they not find them, they drag Jaʹson and some of the brother dem to the rulers for the city. They wor shouting and they say: “This men dem who na cause trouble all over also here with us, 7 and Jaʹson na welcome them in his house. All this men dem against the laws da Caesar give by saying they get different king they call Jesus.” 8 When they hear this thing dem, the people and the ruler dem for the city wor vex bad way. 9 After they take money from Jaʹson and the other brother dem, they free them.
10 Right away, the brother dem send Paul and Silas to Be·roeʹa in the night. When they reach there, they went in the Jews synagogue. 11 The people in Be·roeʹa really wanted to learn more than the people in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca. And da because they accept God Word with their whole heart, and they take their time to check the Scriptures every day to see whether the thing dem they wor learning da true. 12 So plenty people accept the good news. Plenty of the Greek women dem who people get respect for and some of the men dem also accept the good news. 13 But the Jews from Thes·sa·lo·niʹca got to know da Paul wor also preaching God Word in Be·roeʹa. So they came there and make the people to turn against them. 14 Right away the brother dem send Paul to the sea, but Silas and Timothy stay behind. 15 But the people da follow Paul carry him all the way to Athens. After Paul say they mon tell Silas and Timothy to make it quick and come to him, they left from there.
16 When Paul wor waiting for them in Athens, he got vex bad way when he saw the plenty false god dem in da city. 17 So he went in the synagogue and started helping the Jews and other people who wor worshiping God to understand the Scriptures. Also, every day in the market, he help the people dem da wor there to understand the Scriptures. 18 But some of the Ep·i·cu·reʹan* and the Stoʹic* people who knew plenty book started arguing with him. Some of them wor saying: “What this crazy man who can talk plenty want tell us?” Other people wor saying: “It look like da different-different god dem he talking about.” They say this one because he wor preaching the good news about Jesus and about people coming back to life. 19 So they hold him and carry him to the Ar·e·opʹa·gus.* They say: “What kindna new teaching you talking about? 20 Because some of the thing dem you saying sounding strange to us, and we want know what this thing dem mean.” 21 In fact, all the people from Athens and the foreigner dem da wor staying there use to spend their free time talking about something new or listening to something new. 22 Paul stand in the middle of the Ar·e·opʹa·gus and say:
“People in Athens, I na see da in all the thing dem yor can do, yor like God business more than other people. 23 For example when I wor passing, I take time to look at the thing dem yor can worship. I even saw one altar da yor write on and say, ‘To the God Who We Not Know.’ So the God who yor not know and yor worshipping, da the God I come talk to yor about. 24 Da the God who made the world and all the thing dem da inside. He the Lord for heaven and earth. He can’t live in temple dem da people make. 25 He not need anybody to help him because he not need anything. He give everybody life, he make us to breathe, and he give us everything. 26 And da from one man he made all the nation dem to live on the whole earth. He choose set time for certain things to happen, and he set boundary to show where people will live. 27 He do it so da people can try hard to know God. If they try hard to look for him, they will find him because he not far off from each one of us. 28 Because of God, we get life, we can walk and we living just how some of yor own people write and say, ‘All of us we his children too.’
29 “So, since we God children, we mon not think da God looking like gold or silver or rock. He not looking like things da people can think about and fix. 30 Da true, God use to allow people to do this thing dem before because they never knew what they wor doing. But now he telling people all over da they mon repent. 31 Because he na set the day to judge the whole world the right way and he na choose one man to be the judge. Everybody can be sure da Judgement Day will come because he na bring this man back to life.”
32 When they hear about people coming back to life, some of them started laughing at him, and other people say: “We will hear this one another time.” 33 So Paul left them, 34 but some men dem went with him and they accept the good news. Di·o·nysʹi·us who wor judge in the court for the Ar·e·opʹa·gus, and one woman name Damʹa·ris, and other people wor also among them.
