Acts (The Things the Apostle Dem Do)
10 One man name Cornelius wor in Caes·a·reʹa. He wor army officer* for one group of soldiers in the Roman army.* 2 He use to worship God with his whole family, and he use to give plenty gifts to the poor people and he always use to pray to God with his whole heart. 3 Around 3 o’clock in the day, he saw God angel clear in one vision coming to him and tell him say: “Cornelius!” 4 Then Cornelius look at him, and got scare bad way, and he ask him: “What you want me to do Lord?” The angel tell him say: “God na answer your prayer and he na see the way you been helping the poor people. 5 So send some men dem to Jopʹpa to call one man name Simon who they can call Peter. 6 He staying in Simon house da near the sea. The man who can make leather from animal skin.” 7 When the angel who wor talking with Cornelius left, he call two of his servant dem and one soldier who wor having deep respect for God. 8 He tell them everything da happen and send them to Jopʹpa.
9 The next day when they wor still on their way going and they wor getting close to the city, Peter went on top of the house around 12 o’clock in the day to pray. 10 But he got hungry bad way and he wanted to eat. When they wor fixing the food, he saw one vision. 11 In the vision, he saw heaven open and something wor coming down like one big cloth and it wor coming down on the earth just like somebody wor holding it from the four corners. 12 And he saw inside it all kindna animal dem: animals with four foot, snakes, lizards* and the bird dem da can fly in the sky. 13 Then one voice tell him say: “Peter, get up, kill it and eat it!” 14 But Peter say: “Lord, no, I can’t do it because I never eat anything da not holy and clean.” 15 And the voice talk to him for the second time and say: “Stop calling the thing dem God na clean, dirty.” 16 It happen the third time, and right away the big cloth went back up to heaven.
17 Da time when Peter wor still confuse about what the vision he na see mean, the men dem who Cornelius send ask for Simon house and they wor standing to the gate. 18 They call and ask whether Simon who they call Peter wor visitor in da house. 19 When Peter wor still thinking about the vision, the spirit tell him say: “See! three men dem asking for you. 20 So get up, go downstair and follow them, believe what I telling you because da me send them.” 21 Then Peter went downstairs to the men dem and say: “Yeh me here, da me yor looking for. Why yor looking for me?” 22 They tell him say: “God send his holy angel to Cornelius to give him direction for him to tell you to come to his house so he can listen to what you get to say. Cornelius da army officer. He righteous and he get deep respect* for God. And all the Jews dem can talk so-so good-good thing dem about him.” 23 So Peter tell them to come inside and stay with him.
The next day he got ready and went with them, and some of the brother dem from Jopʹpa follow him. 24 The next day he enter Caes·a·reʹa. Cornelius wor expecting them and he call all his family and close friend dem together. 25 When Peter enter the house, Cornelius went to him and he kneel down to worship him. 26 But Peter help him to get up and tell him say: “Stand up, myself I human being like you.” 27 When he wor talking with him, he went inside and saw plenty people there. 28 He tell them say: “Yourself yor know it against the Law for Jews to spend time with people from different nation, but still God na show me da I mon not tell anybody da they not clean. 29 So when you call me, I agree to come. So why you call me?”
30 Then Cornelius say: “Four days ago, by this same time, I wor praying in my house around 3 o’clock in the day, right away one man who wor having shining clothes on him stand in front of me. 31 And he say: ‘Cornelius, God na hear your prayer, and he na see the way you been helping the poor people. 32 So send people to Jopʹpa to call one man name Simon who they can call Peter. He staying in Simon house da near the sea, the man who can make leather from animal skin.’ 33 So I send people to call you right away. Thank you plenty for coming. All of us here before God to hear all the thing dem Jehovah* na tell you to say.”
34 When Peter hear this one, he started to say: “Now I understand good-good da God can’t pick and choose. 35 But in every country, God can accept anybody da get deep respect* for him and do the right thing. 36 He send message to the Israelite dem to tell them the good news about peace through Jesus Christ who the Lord for everybody. 37 Yor know what people use to talk about in Galʹi·lee and all over Ju·deʹa after John preach da people mon get baptize. 38 They use to talk about how God use holy spirit and power to choose Jesus who wor from Nazʹa·reth. And he went all over in the land doing good-good thing dem and healing all the people the Devil wor suffering, because God wor with him. 39 And we saw all the thing dem he do in our country and in Jerusalem, but they kill him by hanging him on the stake.* 40 God bring him back to life on the third day for people to see him. 41 But not to everybody, but to us, we who eat and drink with him after God bring him back to life. God choose us before time to see it and talk about him. 42 He also tell us to preach to the people and explain good-good da God na choose him to be judge for the people who living and for the people who na die. 43 All the prophet dem talk about him and they say, through his name God will forgive the sins of everybody who believe in him.”
44 When Peter wor still talking this thing dem, the holy spirit came on all the people da wor listening to God Word. 45 And the brother dem who wor circumcise da came with Peter wor really surprise because the free gift of the holy spirit also came on people from different nations. 46 And they hear them talking in different-different language dem* and praising God. Then Peter say: 47 “Yor think anybody can stop this people dem from getting baptize, who na get the holy spirit the same way we get it?” 48 When he say this one, he tell them to baptize them in Jesus Christ name. Then they tell Peter to stay with them for some days.
