New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scripture Dem
1 Corinthians 14:1-40

The First Letter Da Paul Write to the Corinthians

14 Yor do yor best to show love, but yor continue to fight hard to get the gift dem da God can give. But the gift da yor mon really try hard to get, da to talk about God message.* 2 The person who can speak different language can talk to God and not to people. Nobody can understand the thing dem he saying, because the holy spirit made him to talk about holy thing dem. 3 But the person who can talk about God message can help other people to be strong. He can encourage and comfort them by the thing dem he say. 4 The person who can speak different language can encourage hisself, but the person who can talk about God message can encourage the congregation. 5 I want for all of yor to speak different-different language dem, but if it leave with me it better for yor to talk about God message. To talk the truth, the person who can talk about God message better pass the person who can speak different-different language dem. And da because if he not translate the thing dem he say, it will not encourage the congregation. 6 My brother dem, yor think it will help yor if I come to yor and be speaking different-different language dem da yor not know? It will only help yor if I tell yor thing dem da God show me, or if I tell yor thing dem da people not know, or if I talk about God message, or if I teach yor.

7 Da the same thing can happen with the thing dem da can make sound even though they not living, like the flute and the harp. If the flute or the harp not make different-different sounds, nobody will know the song da playing. 8 If the trumpet sound not clear, who will get ready to fight war? 9 Da the same way, if yor not use words da easy to understand, how people will know what yor talking about? To talk the truth, the thing yor talking will be for nothing. 10 In the world, people can speak plenty different-different language dem, and people can understand all of them. 11 If I not understand the meaning of what somebody saying, I will be like foreigner to da person, and da person will be like foreigner to me. 12 Da the same way with yor. Since yor really want the gift dem da the holy spirit can give, yor mon try to get plenty of the gift dem da will make the congregation strong.

13 So, let the person who can speak different-different language dem pray so da he can be able to translate it. 14 If I pray in different language da not my ownself talking, but da the gift the holy spirit give me. So the thing dem I saying I can’t understand it. 15 So wetin I will do? I will use the gift the holy spirit give me to pray, but I will also pray so da I can understand the thing dem I saying. I will use the gift the holy spirit give me to sing. But I will also use word dem da I can understand to sing and praise God. 16 If the spirit give you the gift to tell God thank you in prayer and to praise him, how the other person will say “Amen” if he not understand the thing dem you saying? 17 Da true, the way you can tell God thank you in prayer, it alright. But the other person can’t benefit. 18 I want tell God thank you da I can speak plenty language dem more than yor. 19 But in the congregation, I will speak five word dem da people can understand, so da I can teach them. I will not use 10,000 word dem in different language da people can’t understand.

20 My brother dem, yor mon not be like children in the way yor can think. But yor mon be like children when it come to doing bad-bad thing dem and yor mon think like big person. 21 It in the Law: “‘Jehovah* say, I will use foreigners and people who can speak different-different language dem to talk to this people, and with all da one, they will not listen to me.” 22 So the gift to speak different-different language dem there to make people who not believe the good news to believe. But it not for people who already na believe the good news. And the gift to talk about God message not for the people dem who not believe the good news. But it for the people dem who already na believe the good news. 23 So if the whole congregation come together to one place and all of them start speaking different-different language dem, but the common people or people who not believe the good news come among yor, yor not think they will say yor crazy? 24 Let say all of yor talking about God message. Then somebody who not believe the good news or common person come among yor. The thing dem da all of yor talking will correct him and it will make him to check hisself good-good. 25 And he will know the thing dem da in his heart, so he will kneel down and worship God, and say: “God really with yor.”

26 So my brother dem, what the point? When yor come together, some of yor can sing, some of yor can teach, and some of yor can talk about message da God give yor. Also, some of yor can speak different language, and some of yor can translate it. Yor mon do all this thing dem to make the congregation strong. 27 And if somebody speak different language, yor mon be only two or three persons. And they mon do it time by time, and somebody mon be there to translate it. 28 But if nobody there to translate it, he mon keep quiet in the congregation and talk to God in his heart. 29 Let two or three prophet dem talk, and let the other people try to understand the thing dem he saying. 30 But if God show the other person something the time he sitting down there, let the first person keep quiet. 31 All of yor mon talk about God message one by one, so da all of yor can learn and be encourage. 32 And the prophet dem mon control how they use their gift da the holy spirit give them. 33 Because God da God of peace and he not God who like for thing dem to be chakla.

The same way it looking in all the congregation of the brother dem,* 34 let the women dem keep quiet in the congregations, because they not allow to talk. But they mon obey, just how the Law say it. 35 If they want learn anything, let them ask their husband dem to the house, because it not show any respect for woman to talk in the congregation.

36 Yor think God Word coming from yor? Or da only yor receive it?

37 If anybody think say he prophet or he get the gift da the spirit give him, he mon accept da the thing dem I writing to yor da the Lord commandment. 38 But if anybody not accept this thing dem, God will not accept him too.* 39 So my brother dem, yor continue trying hard to talk about God message, but yor mon not stop anybody from speaking different-different language dem. 40 But yor mon do everything the right way and let everything be really organize.
