SONG 4 “Jehovah Is My Shepherd”
Jehovah Hand Will Never Be Too Short
“Is the hand of Jehovah too short?”—NUM. 11:23.
WHAT THE MAIN POINT?
To get more trust in Jehovah that he will always provide the thing dem we need.
1. How Moses show that he trust Jehovah when he free the Israelite dem from Egypt?
THE book of Hebrews talk about plenty people who wor having faith in Jehovah. One of them wor Moses who wor really having strong faith. (Heb. 3:2-5; 11:23-25) He show that he wor having faith when he free the Israelite dem from Egypt. He wor not scare of Pharaoh and his army. He trust in Jehovah and pass the people through the Red Sea. Then later on, he carry them in the wilderness. (Heb. 11:27-29) Most of the Israelite dem stop trusting that Jehovah wor able to take care of them. But Moses continue to trust in his God and Jehovah not let him down. Jehovah perform miracle to provide food and water to take care of his people in the wilderness.a—Ex. 15:22-25; Ps. 78:23-25.
2. Why God ask Moses this question: “Is the hand of Jehovah too short”? (Numbers 11:21-23)
2 Even though Moses wor having strong faith, but one year after he free the Israelite dem, he start thinking whether Jehovah wor really able to provide meat for His people. Moses wor really thinking how Jehovah wor coming be able to provide enough meat for the plenty people that wor in the wilderness. So Jehovah ask him: “Is the hand of Jehovah too short?” (Read Numbers 11:21-23.) In this verse “the hand of Jehovah” mean God holy spirit, or his power he can use to do things. So it mean, Jehovah wor asking Moses, ‘You not really think that I able to do what I say I will do?’
3. Why we must get interest in the thing that happen to Moses and the Israelite dem?
3 You na ever think whether Jehovah able to provide for you and your family? Whether you na think on it or not, let talk about Moses and the Israelite dem, and see the reason why they not trust that God wor able to provide for them. And we will look at some scriptures that will convince us that Jehovah will always help us.
LEARN FROM MOSES AND THE ISRAELITE DEM
4. Wetin make the Israelite dem to think that Jehovah wor not able to provide for them?
4 Wetin make the Israelite dem to think that Jehovah wor not able to provide for them? The Israelites and plenty people who wor not Israelites, wor in the wilderness for some time when they wor leaving from Egypt to go to the Promise Land. (Ex. 12:38; Deut. 8:15) The people who wor not Israelites get tire eating the manna and start complaining, and plenty Israelites join them too. (Num. 11:4-6) Their heart wor calling for the food dem they use to eat in Egypt. Because the people wor complaining too much, Moses start thinking that he the one suppose to provide food for them.—Num. 11:13, 14.
5-6. The way the people who wor not Israelites wor complaining, what it make the Israelite dem to do, and wetin we can learn from it?
5 The people who wor not Israelites wor not grateful for the things Jehovah give them. So it made the Israelite dem to start thinking like them too. The same thing can happen to us especially when we around people who not grateful for the thing dem Jehovah provide. This one can happen if our heart start calling for the thing dem we leave behind or when we jealous of the thing dem other people get. But we will be more happy if we satisfy with what we get, no matter what kindna situation we in.
6 The Israelite dem suppose to remember that God promise them that when they reach to their new home, they wor coming enjoy plenty material things. That promise suppose to be fulfill in the Promise Land, not the time they wor in the wilderness. That the same way we must focus on what Jehovah na promise to give us in the new world, instead of focusing on what we not get in this world. We can also think about some Bible verse dem that can help us to get more trust in Jehovah.
7. Why we can be sure that Jehovah will always be able to help us?
7 Maybe you thinking why God ask Moses this question: “Is the hand of Jehovah too short?” Jehovah wor helping Moses to think about two things: (1) He will always get power. (2) He can use his power anywhere. Jehovah wor able to provide plenty meat for the Israelite dem even though they wor way in the wilderness. God show his power to them with “a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.” (Ps. 136:11, 12) So when we facing problem, we must not think that Jehovah hand too short to help us.—Ps. 138:6, 7.
8. How we can avoid making the same mistake that plenty people made in the wilderness? (Also see the picture.)
8 It not stay long, Jehovah provide meat for his people. They wor having plenty meat to eat. But the Israelite dem not tell God thank you for this miracle. Instead, plenty of them acted greedy. Some of them work whole day and whole night, just to get plenty meat to keep. Jehovah wor really vex with the people “who showed selfish craving,” and he punish them. (Num. 11:31-34) Wetin we can learn from this? We must be careful so we can’t be greedy. Whether we rich or poor, we must focus on keeping “good-good things in heaven” by making our friendship with Jehovah and Jesus more strong. (Matt. 6:19, 20; Luke 16:9) When we do it, we can be sure that Jehovah will provide for us.
How plenty people act in the wilderness, and wetin we can learn from it? (See paragraph 8)
9. What we can be sure that God will do for us?
9 Today, Jehovah also willing to help his people dem. But this one not mean that everything will just be bread and butter.b We can be sure that Jehovah will never leave us. He will help us to go through our different-different problem dem. How we can show that Jehovah able to do it? Let look at two situations: (1) when money business hard on us and (2) when we planning for our old age.
WHEN MONEY BUSINESS HARD ON US
10. Sometime, what money problem we will face?
10 The way this world coming end, we must expect things to get hard bad way. Government dem will be fighting among theirself. War, natural disasters, or new-new sickness will make things that we not expecting to happen to us. Sometime we will even lose our job, our material thing dem or our home. Maybe we will need to find new work in our area or think about moving our family to different area to be able to provide for them. Wetin will help us to make decisions that will show that we really trust Jehovah?
11. Wetin can help you when you facing money problem? (Luke 12:29-31)
11 One good way that to tell Jehovah about your situation. (Prov. 16:3) Ask him to give you wisdom to make good decisions and for your heart to lay down so you can “stop worrying too much” about your situation. (Read Luke 12:29-31.) Beg Jehovah to help you to be satisfy with the thing dem you get. (1 Tim. 6:7, 8) Find articles in our publication dem that will give you idea on what to do when money business hard on you. Plenty people na benefit from the videos and article dem on jw.org that talk about money problem.
12. What question dem can help any Christian to make decision that will be alright for his family?
12 Some people na accept work that carry them far off from their family. But later on, plenty of them can get to know that not good decision they made. So before you accept new job, don’t only think about the pay you will get, but also think about how it will affect your friendship with Jehovah. (Luke 14:28) Ask yourself this question dem: ‘If I go far off from my partner, how it will affect my marriage? How it will affect my meetings, field service and the time I can spend with my brothers and sisters?’ If you get children, you must also ask yourself this important question: ‘If I not with my children, how I will bring them up “in the discipline and admonition of Jehovah”?’ (Eph. 6:4) If you making the decision, do what Jehovah say and not what your relative or friend dem who not respect the Bible tell you to do.c One brother from the west part of Asia name Tony, wor having the opportunity to get good jobs in different country that wor coming pay him plenty money. But after he pray to Jehovah about it and discuss it with his wife, he decide to not take any of the job. And they decide to cut down on some thing dem so they can’t be spending plenty money. When Tony think about the decision he made, he say: “I na help plenty people to come serve Jehovah, and our children dem get zeal for the truth. Our family na learn that so long we do what Matthew 6:33 say, Jehovah will always take care of us.”
PLANNING FOR OUR OLD AGE
13. What some thing dem we can do now-now that will help us to take care of ourself when we get old?
13 We can also show that we trust Jehovah when we making plan about how we will take care of ourself when we get old. The Bible encourage us to work hard so that we can be able to take care of ourself in the future. (Prov. 6:6-11) If you able, you can keep some money for the future. That true, money can help you to do some thing dem. (Eccl. 7:12) But we must not make money to be the most important thing in our life.
14. How Hebrews 13:5 can help us to not worry too much when we planning for the future?
14 Jesus gave one example that show how it not good to just focus on keeping money without having “good friendship with God.” (Luke 12:16-21) Nobody know tomorrow. (Prov. 23:4, 5; Jas. 4:13-15) And for us who following Jesus, we can face one problem that other people can’t face. Jesus say to be his disciples, we must be ready to “leave” the thing dem we get, behind. (Luke 14:33, footnote.) Way back in Judea, the Christian dem wor happy to do this one. (Heb. 10:34) That the same way today, plenty brothers and sisters na lost their material things or their job because they refuse to put their hand in politics. (Rev. 13:16, 17) Wetin help them to do this one? They put their whole trust in what Jehovah say here: “I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you.” (Read Hebrews 13:5.) It good to plan for the future. But if something that we not expecting happen, we must trust that Jehovah will help us.
15. What idea Christian parents must not get about their children? (Also see the picture.)
15 In some cultures, people can born children so their children can take care of them when they get old. The Bible say that parents must provide for their children. (2 Cor. 12:14) That true, when parents get old, they will need their children to help them with money and other thing dem. (1 Tim. 5:4) But Christian parents know that the main thing that can make them happy, that to help their children to serve Jehovah, and not with the idea that their children will provide for them in the future.—3 John 4.
Husbands and wife dem who trust Jehovah can use Bible advice to make decision about their future. (See paragraph 15)d
16. How parents can help their children to be able to provide for theirself in the future? (Ephesians 4:28)
16 By your example, help your children to trust in Jehovah when you teaching them how to provide for theirself in the future. From the time they small, teach them that it good to work hard. (Prov. 29:21; read Ephesians 4:28.) When they getting big, help them to do their best in school. Christian parents must do research and apply Bible advice to help their children to know how to use their education the right way. This one will help their children to be able to provide for theirself, and also get time to do more for Jehovah.
17. Wetin we can be sure about?
17 Jehovah faithful servants can be sure that he able to provide for them and he really want do it. The way this world coming end, we must expect that some thing dem will test our trust in Jehovah. But no matter what happen, let continue to trust that Jehovah will use his power to provide the thing dem we need. We can be sure that his hand will never be too short to help us.
