12 It was then, on the day that Jehovah routed the Amʹor·ites before the eyes of the Israelites, that Joshua said to Jehovah before Israel:

35 So the Amʹor·ites persisted in dwelling in Mount Heʹres, Aiʹja·lon,+ and Sha·alʹbim.+ But when the power* of the house of Joseph increased,* they were forced into hard labor.

18 The Phi·lisʹtines+ also made a raid on the cities of the She·pheʹlah+ and the Negʹeb of Judah and captured Beth-sheʹmesh,+ Aiʹja·lon,+ Ge·deʹroth, Soʹco and its dependent* towns, Timʹnah+ and its dependent towns, and Gimʹzo and its dependent towns; and they settled there.
