48 And immediately one of them ran and took a sponge and soaked it in sour wine and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.+

36 Then someone ran, soaked a sponge in sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink,+ saying: “Let him be! Let us see whether E·liʹjah comes to take him down.”

36 Even the soldiers mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine+
