Jehovah Divide the Kingdom
When Solomon dey worship Jehovah, Israel people no get wahala. But e come marry many many women wey dey serve juju. Small small, e come start to dey serve juju. The prophet tear im cloth into 12 part and tell Jeroboam sey: ‘Jehovah go comot Israel from Solomon family and divide am into two. Take ten part because na you go be the king of the ten tribe.’ When Solomon hear am, e want kill Jeroboam, but Jeroboam run go Egypt. After some years, Solomon come die. Rehoboam wey be im pikin come be the next king. Jeroboam come reason am sey time don reach when e go go back to Israel.
The elders wey dey Israel tell Rehoboam sey: ‘If you dey do the people well, dem go support you.’ But Rehoboam young friends tell am sey: ‘No pity dem at all at all! Make dem work well well.’ Rehoboam listen to wetin e friends tell am. E come dey suffer people, this one come make the people tire for am. So people for the ten tribe come leave am. Dem come make Jeroboam king for the ten tribe, the kingdom come be Israel kingdom. The two tribe wey remain come be Judah kingdom. This two tribe no leave Rehoboam. Na so the 12 tribe wey dey Israel take divide.
Jeroboam no want make e people dey go worship for Jerusalem wey dey Rehoboam kingdom. You know why? Jeroboam dey fear sey im people go dey support Rehoboam. E come mold two small cow and tell im people sey: ‘Jerusalem too far. Make una dey worship for here.’ The people come start to dey worship the two small cow and forget Jehovah again.
‘No join yourself with people wey no dey serve Jehovah like sey una be the same. Na which business good and bad get? Or wetin person wey dey serve God get with person wey no dey serve God?’—2 Corinthians 6:14, 15
