8 And this house will become heaps of ruins.+ Everyone passing by it will stare in amazement and will whistle and say, ‘Why did Jehovah do that to this land and this house?’+

19 He burned down the house of the true God,+ tore down the wall of Jerusalem,+ burned all its fortified towers with fire, and destroyed everything of value.+

 8 They and their offspring have said in their hearts:

“All the meeting places of God* in the land must be burned.”

18 “Miʹcah+ of Moʹresh·eth was prophesying in the days of King Hez·e·kiʹah+ of Judah, and he said to all the people of Judah, ‘This is what Jehovah of armies says:

He has surrendered the walls of her fortified towers into the hand of the enemy.+

They have raised their voice in the house of Jehovah,+ as on the day of a festival.

21 ‘Tell the house of Israel: “This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says, ‘I am about to profane my sanctuary,+ the source of your great pride, the thing dear to you and the desire of your heart.* Your own sons and daughters whom you left behind will fall by the sword.+
