31 To this Jacob said: “First sell me your right as firstborn!”+ 32 And Eʹsau continued: “Here I am about to die! What use is a birthright to me?” 33 And Jacob added: “Swear to me first!” So he swore to him and sold his right as firstborn to Jacob.+

10 Not only then but also when Re·bekʹah conceived twins from the one man, Isaac our forefather;+ 11 for when they had not yet been born and had not practiced anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose respecting the choosing might continue dependent, not on works, but on the One who calls, 12 it was said to her: “The older will be the slave of the younger.”+
