12 Be careful that you do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you are going,+ or it may prove to be a snare among you.+

25 When Israel was dwelling in Shitʹtim,+ the people started to commit sexual immorality with the daughters of Moʹab.+ 2 The women invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods,+ and the people began to eat and to bow down to their gods.+

2 Jehovah your God will give them over to you, and you will defeat them.+ You should without fail devote them to destruction.+ You must not make any covenant with them nor show them any favor.+
