3 In those days John+ the Baptist came preaching+ in the wilderness of Ju·deʹa, 2 saying: “Repent, for the Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.”+

4 John the Baptizer was in the wilderness, preaching baptism in symbol of repentance for forgiveness of sins.+

76 But as for you, young child, you will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go ahead of Jehovah* to prepare his ways,+ 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by forgiveness of their sins,+
