2 Chronicles 26:1-23

The Second Book of Chronicles

26 Then all Judah people carry Uz·zi′ah, wey dey 16 years and make-am king to rule after Am·a·zi′ah wey be im papa. 2 E build E′loth again and make-am the city of Judah again after the king* don die like im papa-papa them. 3 Uz·zi′ah dey 16 years when e start to rule, and e rule for 52 years for Jerusalem. Im mama name na Je·co·li′ah wey come from Jerusalem. 4 E continue to do wetin correct for Jehovah eyes, just as Am·a·zi′ah im papa be do. 5 And e continue to look for God for the time of Zech·a·ri′ah, wey teach-am to fear the true God. For that time wey e de look for Jehovah, the true God make things go well for-am.

6 E comot go fight against Phi·lisʹti·a people and e break the wall of Gath, the wall of Jab′neh, and the wall of Ash′dod, and win them. Then e build cities for Ash′dod area and for other areas for Phi·lisʹti·a people land. 7 The true God continue to help-am win Phi·lisʹti·a people, Arabia people wey de stay for Gur·ba′al, and Me·u′nim people. 8 Am′mon people come start to pay tax to Uz·zi′ah. People come start to hear im name for far-far place like Egypt because e come get power no be small. 9 Apart from that one, Uz·zi′ah build towers for Jerusalem and e make them strong, the towers near the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and the Pillar Wey De Support the Wall.* 10 E still build towers for the wilderness and dig many wells (because e get plenty animals); e still do the same thing for the She·phe′lah and for the level land.* E get farmers and people wey de work for vine farms for the mountains and for Car′mel, because e like farm work no be small.

11 Apart from that one, Uz·zi′ah come get soldiers wey ready for war. Them de go fight war and them arrange them for different-different groups. Na Je·i′el wey be the secretary and Ma·a·sei′ah wey be the officer count them and register them and Han·a·ni′ah wey be one of the leaders for the king be their oga. 12 All the people wey be leaders for their family groups for their papa side wey de control this strong soldiers na 2,600. 13 The soldiers wey dey under them na 307,500 men wey ready for war, them be strong soldiers wey de support the king to fight against im enemy. 14 Uz·zi′ah give all im soldiers shields, lance* them, helmets, coats wey them de wear to protect their chest, bows, and stones wey them de use for sling.* 15 Another thing be say, for Jerusalem, e use engineers do machines wey them de use fight war. Them put them ontop the towers and for the corners of the walls and them fit use them shoot arrows and big stones. So people for far place don sabi-am well-well because e receive help no be small, e come strong.

16 But as e just strong, e come start to carry shoulder* and this one cause serious problem for-am, e sin against Jehovah im God as e enter the temple of Jehovah to burn incense ontop the altar of incense. 17 Quick-quick, Az·a·ri′ah the priest and 80 other priests of Jehovah wey no de fear follow-am enter. 18 Them go meet King Uz·zi′ah and tell-am say: “Uz·zi′ah, you no suppose burn incense to Jehovah! Na only the priests suppose burn incense, because na them be the children-children of Aaron, na them be people wey them don make holy. Comot from the holy place because you don sin, and Jehovah God no go honor you for this thing.”

19 But Uz·zi′ah, wey hold the incense container to burn incense come vex no be small, and as e de vex for the priests, leprosy come out from im forehead for front of the priests for the house of Jehovah, near the altar of incense. 20 When Az·a·ri′ah the chief priest and all the priests turn face-am, them see say leprosy don come out from im forehead! Quick-quick them pursue-am from there go outside, and im too rush comot, because Jehovah don strike-am.

21 The leprosy no comot from King Uz·zi′ah body until the day wey e die, and as e be say e get leprosy, e continue to stay for another separate house, because them don comot-am from the house of Jehovah. Jo′tham wey be im son come dey in charge of the king house,* de judge the people of the land.

22 And the other story about Uz·zi′ah, from start go reach the end, na Isaiah the prophet wey be the son of A′moz write-am. 23 Then Uz·zi′ah die like im papa-papa them, and them bury-am with im papa-papa them, but them bury-am for the land wey the kings get wey them de bury people, because them talk say: “Na leper e be.” And im son Jo′tham start to rule as king after-am.
