The Second Book of Samuel
12 So Jehovah send Nathan go meet David. E come inside come meet David and talk say: “E get two men wey be dey for one city. One rich and the other one poor. 2 The rich man get plenty-plenty sheep and cows, 3 but the poor man no get anything apart from one small sheep wey be woman-sheep wey e buy. The man care for-am, and e dey with the man and im sons until e grow. The sheep de chop from the small food wey the man get, e de drink for im cup and sleep for im hand, e come be like the man daughter. 4 After, when somebody come visit the rich man, e no cook food for the man wey travel come visit-am with any of im sheep and cows, instead na the poor man small sheep e use cook food for the man wey come visit-am.”
5 As David hear this one, e vex for the man no be small. Then e tell Nathan say: “As Jehovah dey alive, the man wey do this thing suppose die! 6 And make e pay for the small sheep four times, because e do this thing and e no show pity.”
7 Then Nathan tell David say: “Na you be the man! This na wetin Jehovah the God of Israel talk: ‘Na me anoint you as king of Israel, and I save you from the hand of Saul. 8 I be ready to give you the house of your oga, and put the wives of your oga for your hand. And I give you Israel people and Judah people say make you rule, and if that one no reach, I be still ready to do plenty other things for you. 9 Why you do this bad thing for Jehovah eyes, wey show say you no see im word as anything? You use sword kill U·ri′ah wey come from the family of Heth, then you take im wife as your wife after you don use Am′mon people sword kill-am. 10 Now, sword no go ever comot from your own family,* because you no respect me as you take the wife of U·ri′ah wey come from the family of Heth as your wife.’ 11 This na wetin Jehovah talk: ‘I go make you get serious problem wey go come from your own family;* and for your front, I go carry your wives give another man, and e go sleep with your wives for public.* 12 Even though say you hide do your own, I go do this thing for front of all Israel people, when everywhere dey bright.’”*
13 Then David tell Nathan say: “I don sin against Jehovah.” So Nathan answer David say: “Jehovah too don forgive your sin.* You no go die. 14 But because say you no respect Jehovah at all for this matter, that son wey them just born for you so, go surely die.”
15 Then Nathan go im own house.
Jehovah come make the pikin wey U·ri′ah wife born for David start to sick. 16 David beg the true God for the boy. E do serious fasting. When e enter inside im house, na ground e de sleep until daybreak. 17 So the senior servants for im house stand near-am and de try to raise-am up from ground, but e no gree, and e no gree chop with them. 18 For the seventh day, the pikin die. But fear no let David servants tell-am say the pikin don die. Them talk say: “When the pikin still dey alive, we talk to-am but e no listen to us. So how we go fit tell-am say the pikin don die? E fit do one bad thing.”
19 When David see say im servants de talk to each other small-small, e know say the pikin don die. Then David ask im servants say: “The pikin don die?” Them tell-am say: “E don die.” 20 So David stand up from ground, bath, rub oil for im body, change im clothes, and go the house of Jehovah and lie down for ground. After, e go im house and talk say make them bring food for-am, then e chop. 21 Im servants ask-am say: “Why you do wetin you do so? When the pikin dey alive, you de fast and de cry. But as the pikin just die, you stand up and chop.” 22 E answer them say: “When the pikin dey alive, I fast and continue to cry because I tell myself say, ‘Maybe Jehovah go pity me and allow the pikin survive.’ 23 Now wey e don die, why I go de fast? I fit bring-am back? Na me go go meet-am, but e no go come back come meet me.”
24 Then David make the mind of Bath-she′ba im wife come down. David go inside go meet-am and sleep with-am. After some time, e born boy. David come name-am Sol′o·mon.* And Jehovah love-am, 25 and e send prophet Nathan say make e go tell them say make them name-am Jed·i·di′ah,* because of Jehovah.
26 That time, Jo′ab continue to fight war against Rab′bah wey be Am′mon people city, and e take over the part of the city wey the king de stay. 27 So Jo′ab send messengers go meet David and talk say: “I don fight against Rab′bah, and I don take over the part of the city wey water dey.* 28 Now gather the rest soldiers, make una surround the city and take-am. If not, na me go take over the city and na my name go dey say na me take over the city.”*
29 So David gather all the soldiers and them go Rab′bah. E fight against the city and take-am. 30 Then e comot the crown wey dey Mal′cam* head. The crown heavy reach one talent* of gold, and them use fine-fine stones decorate-am. Them come put-am for David head. E still take plenty-plenty things from the city. 31 And e bring the people wey be dey inside the city come out, and start to use them work as people wey de cut stones, people wey de work with iron ax, and other sharp instruments wey them use iron make, and as people wey de make bricks. Na so e do all the cities of Am′mon people. At last, David and all the soldiers go back to Jerusalem.
