17 As David just start to live for im own house,* e tell Nathan wey be prophet say: “I de live for house wey them build with cedarwoods, but the ark of agreement of Jehovah dey under tent wey them make with cloths.” 2 Nathan tell David say: “Do anything wey dey your heart because the true God dey with you.”
3 For that same night, God tell Nathan say: 4 “Go tell my servant David say, ‘This na wetin Jehovah talk: “No be you go build house for me wey I go stay. 5 Because from the day wey I bring Israel people come out from Egypt till today, I never stay for any house, instead, I continue to move from tent to tent and from one tabernacle to another tabernacle.* 6 For the whole time wey I de waka with all Israel people, e get any of the judge them for Israel wey I choose to be shepherd for my people, wey ever hear me talk say, ‘Why una no build house with cedarwoods for me?’”’
7 “Now, go tell my servant David say, ‘This na wetin Jehovah of armies talk: “I take you from the place wey animals de chop grass, from where you de lead sheep, and I make you leader for my people Israel. 8 And I go dey with you anywhere wey you go, I go destroy all your enemies from your front; and I go make people know your name like the name of the big men for the earth. 9 I go choose one place for my people Israel and make them settle down, and them go live for there and nothing go disturb them again; wicked men no go suffer them again as them do before 10 from the time wey I choose judges for my people Israel. And I go win all your enemies. Apart from that one, I de tell you say, ‘Jehovah go make people wey go de rule come out from your family.’*
11 “‘“After you don die and you don dey with your papa-papa them, I go choose your pikin,* one of your sons as king wey go rule after you, and I go make im kingdom stand well. 12 Na im go build house for me, and I go make im throne stand forever. 13 I go be im papa, and e go be my son. I no go stop to show-am love wey no de fail the way I stop to show-am to the person wey dey before you. 14 I go make-am stand for my house and my kingdom forever and im throne go last forever.”’”
15 Nathan tell David all this things and the whole vision.
16 So King David come inside and sitdown for Jehovah front and talk say: “O Jehovah God, who I be? And wetin my family* be, wey you don do this plenty things for me? 17 O God, as if this one wey you talk no reach, you don still talk say the family* of your servant go last go reach long time for future, and you de look me like say I be person wey them suppose raise go up more-more,* O Jehovah God. 18 Wetin again me wey be your servant, David, fit tell you about the honor wey you don give me, when e be say you know your servant well-well? 19 O Jehovah, because of your servant and wetin you don decide for your heart,* you don do all this wonderful things as you don show how you big reach. 20 O Jehovah, nobody be like you and no other God dey apart from you; everything wey we don hear with our ear prove-am say this one na true. 21 And which other nation for this earth be like your people Israel? You, the true God go, and you save them and make them your people. You make people know your name as you do big-big and wonderful things. You pursue other nations comot because of your people wey you save from Egypt. 22 You make Israel people to be your own people forever, and you, O Jehovah, come be their God. 23 Now, O Jehovah, make wetin you don promise your servant and im family* happen and make e last forever, and make you do-am just as you don promise. 24 Make your name dey forever, and make them raise-am high forever, so that people go talk say, ‘Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, na God e be for Israel,’ and make the house of your servant David stand forever for your front. 25 Because you, my God, don show your servant wetin you get for mind, say you go build house* for-am. Na im make your servant get the mind to pray this prayer to you. 26 And now, O Jehovah, na you be the true God, and you don promise your servant this better things. 27 So abeg, make e dey your mind to bless the family of your servant, and make the family continue to dey forever for your front, because na you, O Jehovah, don bless the family and your blessing go dey ontop-am forever.”
