2 Chronicles 24:1-27

The Second Book of Chronicles

24 Je·ho′ash dey seven years when e start to rule as king, and e rule for Jerusalem for 40 years. Im mama name na Zib′i·ah wey come from Be′er-she′ba. 2 Je·ho′ash continue to do wetin good for Jehovah eyes all the time wey Je·hoi′a·da wey be priest dey alive. 3 Je·hoi′a·da choose two wives for-am, e come born sons and daughters.

4 After, e come dey the heart of Je·ho′ash to repair the house of Jehovah. 5 So e gather the priests and the Levites together and tell them say: “Make una comot enter the cities of Judah and collect money from the whole of Israel to repair the house of una God every year, and make una do this one quick-quick.” But the Levites no do-am quick-quick. 6 So the king call Je·hoi′a·da wey be the chief priest and tell-am say: “Why you never tell the Levites say make them bring from Judah and Jerusalem the holy tax wey Moses the servant of Jehovah talk, wey be the holy tax of Israel people, for the tent of the Testimony? 7 Because the sons of Ath·a·li′ah, that wicked woman, be don break enter the house of the true God and them don use all the holy things wey dey the house of Jehovah to worship the idols of Ba′al.” 8 Then, as the king command them, them make one box and put-am outside the gate of Jehovah house. 9 After that one, them announce-am for the whole Judah and Jerusalem say make them bring the holy tax for Jehovah wey Moses the servant of the true God be don command Israel people for wilderness say make them bring. 10 All the leaders and all the people happy and them continue to bring contributions and de drop them inside the box until e full.*

11 Anytime wey the Levites carry the box come inside to give the king, and them see say plenty money dey inside, the king secretary and the person wey de help the chief priest go come comot the money from inside the box, then them go carry the box back to where e be dey. Na so them de do everyday, and them gather plenty money. 12 Then the king and Je·hoi′a·da go give the money to the people wey de direct the work for the house of Jehovah, and them go hire people wey de cut stones and the people wey sabi use hand make things to repair Jehovah house, them go still hire people wey de use iron and copper make things to repair Jehovah house. 13 And the people wey de direct the work start-am, and the work to repair the house continue to move well as them de direct-am, and them repair the house of the true God to dey as e dey before, and them make-am strong. 14 And as them just finish the work, them carry the money wey remain come give the king and Je·hoi′a·da, and them use the money get things wey them go use for Jehovah house, things wey them go use do their work, and things wey them go de use do offerings, and cups, and them still use-am get things wey them use gold and silver make. And them de do sacrifice them wey them de burn for Jehovah house all the time, for all the days wey Je·hoi′a·da dey alive.

15 Je·hoi′a·da come old and e happy say e live long life, then e die. E dey 130 years when e die. 16 So them bury-am for the City of David for where them de bury kings, because for Israel, e don do good things for the true God and for Im house.

17 After Je·hoi′a·da don die, the leaders of Judah come bow down to the king and the king listen to them. 18 Them leave the house of Jehovah the God of their papa-papa them, and them start to serve idol poles* and their idols. God come vex for Judah and Jerusalem because of their sin. 19 E continue to send prophets to them to bring them come back to Jehovah, and e continue to warn them,* but them no listen.

20 God spirit come enter* Zech·a·ri′ah the son of Je·hoi′a·da wey be priest, and e stand for place wey high pass where the people stand and e tell them say: “This na wetin the true God talk, ‘Why una no de obey the commandments of Jehovah? Una no go succeed! Because una don leave Jehovah, so e go leave una too.’” 21 But them plan against-am and the king command them to stone-am for the compound of Jehovah house. 22 So King Je·ho′ash no remember the love wey no de fail wey Je·hoi′a·da im papa* show-am and e kill im son. When e de die, e talk say: “Make Jehovah judge the matter and pay you back.”

23 For the start of the year, Syria soldiers come attack Je·ho′ash, and them enter Judah and Jerusalem. Then them kill all the leaders of the people and them send all the things wey them don collect to the king of Damascus. 24 Even though say Syria soldiers wey come attack them no plenty, Jehovah put plenty-plenty soldiers for their hand, because them don leave Jehovah the God of their papa-papa them, so God use them* punish Je·ho′ash. 25 And when Syria soldiers comot leave Je·ho′ash (because for the time wey them leave-am, them don wound-am well-well*), im own servants plan against-am because e don kill the sons* of Je·hoi′a·da wey be priest. Them kill-am for im own bed. So e die and them bury-am for the City of David, but them no bury-am for place wey them de bury kings.

26 The people wey plan against-am na: Za′bad the son of one Am′mon woman wey im name na Shim′e·ath and Je·hoz′a·bad the son of one Mo′ab woman wey im name na Shim′rith. 27 The things wey concern Je·ho′ash sons and the plenty things wey the prophets talk against-am, and the way e take repair the house of the true God, them write all this things for the Book of the Kings. And im son Am·a·zi′ah start to rule as king after-am.
