18 Now Jeth′ro the priest of Mid′i·an, wey be Moses father-in-law, hear about all the things wey God don do for Moses and for im people Israel, how Jehovah don bring Israel come out from Egypt. 2 Jeth′ro wey be Moses father-in-law, take care of Zip·po′rah wey be Moses wife, when them send Zip·po′rah come back to-am, 3 together with Zip·po′rah two sons. One of the son name na Ger′shom,* because Moses talk say, “I don be stranger wey de live for another man land,” 4 and the name of the other one na E·li·e′zer,* because Moses talk say, “Na the God of my papa de help me, the Person wey save me from Phar′aoh sword.”
5 So Jeth′ro wey be Moses father-in-law, together with Moses sons and im wife come meet Moses for the wilderness where e put im tent for the mountain of the true God. 6 Then e send message to Moses say: “Me, your father-in-law Jeth′ro, de come meet you together with your wife and im two sons.” 7 At once, Moses go meet im father-in-law, e bow down and kiss-am. The two of them ask each other how them dey, and then them go inside the tent.
8 Moses tell im father-in-law everything wey Jehovah don do to Phar′aoh and Egypt to help Israel, all the problems wey them don face for road, and how Jehovah save them. 9 Jeth′ro happy because of all the good things wey Jehovah don do for Israel as e save them from Egypt.* 10 Then Jeth′ro talk say: “Praise Jehovah, the Person wey save una from Egypt and from Phar′aoh, and wey save the people from Egypt people wey be de suffer them. 11 Now I know say Jehovah big pass all the other gods, because of wetin e do to the people wey carry body up to show say them dey against im people.” 12 Then Jeth′ro wey be Moses father-in-law, bring offering wey them de burn and other sacrifice them for God, and Aaron and all the elders of Israel come chop food with Moses father-in-law for front of the true God.
13 For the next day, Moses sitdown as e de always do to judge the people, and the people continue to stand for front of Moses from morning go reach evening. 14 When Moses father-in-law see all the things wey Moses de do for the people, e talk say: “Wetin be this thing wey you de do for the people? Why only you sitdown for here and all the people de stand for your front from morning go reach evening?” 15 Moses tell im father-in-law say: “Because the people continue to come meet me to ask for direction from God. 16 When any matter happen, them de carry-am come meet me, and I go judge between one person and another person, and I go tell them the things wey the true God don decide and tell them about im laws.”
17 Moses father-in-law tell-am say: “Wetin you de do no good. 18 You go surely tire, both you and this people wey dey with you, because this load too big for you and you no go fit carry-am by yourself. 19 Now listen to me. I go give you advice, and God go dey with you. Make you represent the people for front of the true God, and you go bring their matter to the true God. 20 Make you warn them about the things wey God don decide and the laws wey e don give, and help them know the way them suppose de live and the things wey them suppose do. 21 But make you choose men wey fit do this work and wey de fear God, from among the people. Men wey people fit trust, and wey hate to get money for way wey no straight. Make you put this men as chiefs wey go de control thousands of people, chiefs wey go de control hundreds of people, chiefs wey go de control groups of fifty people, and chiefs wey go de control groups of ten people. 22 Make them judge the people when any matter happen,* and make them bring any matter wey hard come meet you, but make them decide any small matter. Make-am easy for yourself and allow them share the load with you. 23 If you do this one, and na according to wetin God command you, you go fit carry the load and everybody go happy go house.”
24 Quick-quick, Moses listen to wetin im father-in-law talk, and e do everything wey e don talk. 25 Moses choose men wey fit do the work from among all Israel people and make them to be heads of the people, as chiefs wey go de control thousands of people, chiefs wey go de control hundreds of people, chiefs wey go de control groups of fifty people, and chiefs wey go de control groups of ten people. 26 So na them de judge the people when matter happen. Any matter wey hard, them go bring-am come give Moses, but them go judge any small matter. 27 After that one, Moses tell im father-in-law bye-bye, and e go im land.
