The Second Book of Samuel
7 When the king don de live for im own house,* and Jehovah don make-am rest from all the enemies wey surround-am, 2 the king tell Nathan wey be prophet say: “I de live for house wey them build with cedarwoods but the Ark of the true God sitdown for inside tent wey them make with cloths.” 3 Nathan tell the king say: “Go do anything wey dey your heart, because Jehovah dey with you.”
4 For that same night, Jehovah tell Nathan say: 5 “Go tell my servant David say, ‘This na wetin Jehovah talk: “Na you go build house for me wey I go stay? 6 Because from the day wey I bring Israel people come out from Egypt till today, I never stay for any house, but na inside tent and tabernacle I don dey and de move* from place to place. 7 For the whole time wey I de waka with all Israel people,* e get any of the leaders of Israel wey I choose to be shepherd for my people Israel, wey ever hear me talk say, ‘Why una no build house with cedarwoods for me?’”’ 8 Now, go tell my servant David say, ‘This na wetin Jehovah of armies talk: “I take you from the place wey animals de chop grass, from where you de lead sheep, and I make you leader for my people Israel. 9 And I go dey with you anywhere wey you go, I go destroy all your enemies from your front; and I go make people know your name well-well like the name of the big men for the earth. 10 I go choose one place for my people Israel and make them settle down, and them go live for there and nothing go disturb them again; wicked men no go suffer them again as them do before 11 from the time wey I choose judges for my people Israel. And I go make you rest from all your enemies.
“‘“Jehovah don still tell you say, Jehovah go make people wey go de rule come out from your family.* 12 After you don die and them don bury you with your papa-papa them, I go choose your pikin,* your own son,* as king wey go rule after you, and I go make im kingdom stand well. 13 Na im go build house for my name, and I go make the throne of im kingdom stand forever. 14 I go be im papa and e go be my son. When e do something wey no good, I go correct-am,* I go use cane punish-am as people de do. 15 I no go stop to show-am love wey no de fail, the way I stop to show-am to Saul wey I comot from your front. 16 You go see as your family* and your kingdom go dey forever, and your throne go stand forever.”’”
17 Nathan tell David all this things and the whole vision.
18 So King David come inside and sitdown for Jehovah front and talk say: “O Jehovah, the Lord Wey High Pass, who I be? And wetin my family* be wey you don do this plenty things for me? 19 O Jehovah the Lord Wey High Pass, as if this one wey you talk no reach, you don still talk say the family* of your servant go last go reach long time for future, and this one na command* wey you don give everybody, O Jehovah, the Lord Wey High Pass. 20 Wetin again me wey be your servant, David, fit tell you, when e be say you know me well-well, O Jehovah the Lord Wey High Pass? 21 Because of wetin you talk and wetin you don decide for your heart,* you don do all this wonderful things, and you don tell your servants about them. 22 Na im make you really dey wonderful, O Jehovah the Lord Wey High Pass. Nobody be like you, and no other God dey apart from you. Everything wey we don hear with our ear prove-am say this one na true. 23 And which other nation for this earth be like your people Israel? O God, you go, and you save them and make them your people, you make people know your name as you do big-big and wonderful things for them. You pursue other nations and their gods comot because of your people wey you save for yourself from Egypt. 24 You don make Israel people to be your own people forever, and you, O Jehovah, don be their God.
25 “Now, O Jehovah God, make you do wetin you don promise your servant and im family* and make e last forever, and make you do-am just as you don promise. 26 Make them raise your name high forever, so that people go talk say, ‘Jehovah of armies na the God of Israel,’ and make the house of your servant David stand forever for your front. 27 Because you, O Jehovah of armies, the God of Israel, don show your servant wetin you go do, say, ‘I go build house* for you.’ Na im make your servant get the mind* to pray this prayer to you. 28 And now, O Jehovah the Lord Wey High Pass, na you be the true God, and the things wey you talk na truth, and you don promise your servant this better things. 29 So abeg, make e dey your mind to bless the family* of your servant, and make the family continue to dey forever for your front, because na you, O Jehovah the Lord Wey High Pass, don promise this thing, and make your blessing dey ontop the family of your servant forever.”
