The Second of Kings
17 For the 12th year of A′haz wey be king of Judah, Ho·she′a wey be the son of E′lah start to rule Israel as king for Sa·mar′i·a. E rule for nine years. 2 E continue to do wetin bad for Jehovah eyes, but e no do reach Israel kings wey don rule before-am. 3 Shal·man·e′ser wey be king of As·syr′i·a come attack-am. Ho·she′a come be im servant and start to pay tax to-am. 4 But, the king of As·syr′i·a come hear say Ho·she′a don do one wicked plan, because e be don send messengers go meet King So wey be king of Egypt, and e no carry tax go give the king of As·syr′i·a as e de do for the years wey don pass. So the king of As·syr′i·a tie-am put for prison.
5 The king of As·syr′i·a bring im army come full everywhere for the land, e come Sa·mar′i·a and surround-am for three years. 6 For the ninth year of Ho·she′a, the king of As·syr′i·a take over Sa·mar′i·a, then e carry Israel people go As·syr′i·a as slaves and talk say make them stay for Ha′lah and Ha′bor wey near River Go′zan, and for the cities of Meʹdi·a people.
7 This one happen because Israel people sin against Jehovah their God, wey bring them from the land of Egypt, from the hand of Phar′aoh king of Egypt wey be de control them, them come de worship* other gods. 8 Them follow the traditions of the nations wey Jehovah be don pursue comot for Israel people, and them follow the traditions wey Israel kings start.
9 Israel people be de put hand for things wey no good for the eyes of Jehovah their God. Them continue to build high place* them for all their cities, from watchtower* go reach city wey get strong protection.* 10 Them continue to make idol pillars and idol poles* for theirself ontop every high hill, and under every big fine tree, 11 and them de make sacrifice smoke ontop all the high place them, just as the nations wey Jehovah don pursue comot for them be de do. Them continue to do wicked things to make Jehovah vex.
12 Them continue to serve rubbish idols,* wey Jehovah be don tell them about say: “Make una no ever do this thing!” 13 Jehovah continue to use all im prophets and everybody wey de see vision to warn Israel people and Judah people say: “Make una stop to do the wicked things wey una de do! Make una obey my commandments, follow the things wey I don decide as e dey for all the law wey I command una papa-papa them, and wey I use my servants the prophets send to una.” 14 But them no listen, and them continue to dey stubborn like their papa-papa them wey no show faith for Jehovah their God. 15 Them continue to reject im directions and the agreement wey e make with their papa-papa them and the things wey e don remind them to warn them, and them continue to follow useless idols and them come dey useless too, de copy the nations wey surround them wey Jehovah command them say make them no copy.
16 Them continue to abandon all the commandments of Jehovah their God, and them use metal* make two small cows and idol pole,* and them bow down to all the stars for the heavens* and worship Ba′al. 17 Them still burn their sons and daughters for fire as sacrifice,* them de use demon power know wetin people no know, and them de look for signs to know wetin go happen for future. Them continue to put all their body* to do wetin bad for Jehovah eyes, to make-am vex.
18 So Jehovah vex for Israel people well-well, sotey, e comot them from im front. E no let any of them remain, only the tribe of Judah.
19 Even Judah people no obey the commandments of Jehovah their God, them follow the traditions wey Israel people de follow. 20 Jehovah reject all the children-children of Israel and e disgrace them and put them for the hand of people wey attack them and pack their things until e don troway them comot from im front. 21 E tear Israel people comot from the family* of David. Them come make Jer·o·bo′am the son of Ne′bat king. But Jer·o·bo′am make Israel people stop to follow Jehovah, and e make them commit big sin. 22 And Israel people continue to commit all the sins wey Jer·o·bo′am be don commit. Them no stop to do those things 23 until Jehovah comot Israel people from im front, just as e don use all im servants the prophets talk-am. So them carry Israel people from their land go As·syr′i·a as slaves, and them still dey there till today.
24 Then the king of As·syr′i·a bring people from Babylon, Cu′thah, Av′va, Ha′math, and Seph·ar·va′im and put them for the cities of Sa·mar′i·a, where Israel people be dey. Them collect Sa·mar′i·a and live inside the cities. 25 When them first start to live there, them no fear* Jehovah. So Jehovah send lions to go meet them, and them kill some of the people. 26 So them tell the king of As·syr′i·a say: “The people of the nations wey you carry as slaves and wey you talk say make them stay for the cities of Sa·mar′i·a no know how to worship* the God of the land. So e de send lions to go meet and kill them, because nobody among them know how to worship the God of the land.”
27 So the king of As·syr′i·a command them say: “Make una tell one of the priests wey una carry from there as slave say make e go back go stay for the land, so that e go teach them how to worship the God of the land.” 28 So one of the priests wey them be carry as slave from Sa·mar′i·a come back to stay for Beth′el, and e start to teach them how them suppose fear* Jehovah.
29 But, each of the nations make their own god,* wey them put for the different-different house of worship for the high place them wey Sa·mar′i·a people don make; each nation do like that for their cities where them de stay. 30 So Babylon people make Suc′coth-be′noth, Cuth people make Ner′gal, Ha′math people make A·shi′ma, 31 and people wey come from Avʹva make Nib′haz and Tar′tak. Seph·ar·vaʹim people de burn their sons for inside fire for A·dram′me·lech and A·nam′me·lech, wey be the gods of Seph·ar·va′im. 32 Even though say them de fear Jehovah, them appoint priests for the high place them from their own people, and this priests de work for them for the different-different house of worship for the high place them. 33 So, them fear Jehovah but them worship their own gods according to the religion* of the nations wey them carry them from.
34 Till today, them de follow the religion* wey them dey before. Nobody among them de worship* Jehovah and nobody de follow the things wey e don talk, im judgments, the Law, and the commandments wey Jehovah give the sons of Jacob, wey e change im name to Israel. 35 When Jehovah make agreement with them, e command them say: “Make una no ever fear other gods, and make una no ever bow down to them or serve them or do sacrifice to them. 36 But Jehovah, wey bring una come out from the land of Egypt with great power and im powerful hand,* na the Person wey una suppose fear, and na im una suppose bow down to, and na im una suppose do sacrifice for. 37 And the directions, the judgments, the Law, and the commandment wey e don write for una, make una always follow-am well, and make una no ever fear other gods. 38 And make una no ever forget the agreement wey I make with una, and make una no ever fear other gods. 39 But na Jehovah una God una suppose fear, because na im be the person wey go save una from the hand of all una enemies.”
40 But them no obey, them come de follow the religion* wey them dey before. 41 This nations come de fear Jehovah, but them still de worship their image them wey them carve, and their sons and their grandsons de do like their papa-papa them till today.
