FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | JOHN 1-2

“First Miracle Wey Jesus Do”

(John 2:1-3) And for the third day, they do wedding party for Cana for Galilee and mama of Jesus dey there. 2 They still invite Jesus and his disciples for the wedding party. 3 When the wine don de finish, mama of Jesus tell Jesus say: “Their wine don finish.”

w15 6/15 4 ¶3

God Give Jesus Power for Miracle

3 For the wedding party wey they do for Cana, Galilee, Jesus do e first miracle. E fit be say, the people wey come the wedding party plenty pass the number of people wey they invite. But the thing na say, the wine no reach everybody. Mary, the mama of Jesus dey among the people wey they invite. For plenty years, Mary go don de think about everything wey the prophets don talk about Jesus. And e know say they go call Jesus “Son of the Most High.” (Luke 1:30-32; 2:52) Even if Jesus never do miracle before, Mary believe say Jesus fit do-am? The thing na say, Mary and Jesus feel for the new husband and wife for Cana and they no want make shame catch them. Jesus know say wine dey important for this kind occasion. So e do miracle, e turn about 100 gallon (380 L) of water to “fine wine.” (Read John 2:3, 6-11.) No be must say Jesus for do this miracle. But e just love people and e want do like Jehovah, wey get open-hand.

(John 2:4-11) But Jesus tell Mary say: “Woman, how that one concern me and you? My time never reach.” 5 Mary tell the people wey de serve say: “Make wuna do anything wey e talk.” 6 Now they keep six water pot wey they make with stone for there, so that people go use-am wash theirself as the law of the Jews talk. Each pot fit contain about 44 or 66 liter of water. 7 Jesus tell them say: “Fill all the pot with water.” So they fill-am with water. 8 Then e tell them say: “Now take some of the water go give the man wey de direct the occasion.” So they do as e talk. 9 When the man wey de direct the occasion taste the water wey don turn to wine, but e no know the place wey they bring-am from (even though the servant them wey bring the water know), the man call the person wey de marry 10 and e talk say: “Other people de bring the fine wine first, and when people don over-drink, they go bring the one wey no too fine. But you don keep the fine wine until this time.” 11 Jesus do this one when e dey Cana for Galilee and na e first miracle. And this one show the power wey Jesus get, and the disciples put their faith for Jesus.

jy 41 ¶6

First Miracle Wey Jesus Do

This na the first miracle wey Jesus do. As his new disciples see this miracle, their faith strong. After, Jesus travel go city of Capernaum with his mama and step brothers. Capernaum dey the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(John 1:1) From the start, the Word be dey, and the Word be dey with God, and the Word na god.

nwtsty study note for Joh 1:1

the Word: Or “the Logos.” For Greek, na ho loʹgos. For this verse, they use-am as title. They still use-am for Joh 1:14 and Re 19:13. John talk say na Jesus get that title. They use this title for Jesus when e still dey heaven, when e come earth and when e go back for heaven. Before Jesus come this earth, Jehovah use Jesus de tell both the angels and people for earth wetin e want make they do. Na e make Bible call Jesus, God’s Word or Spokesman.—Ge 16:7-11; 22:11; 31:11; Ex 3:2-5; Jg 2:1-4; 6:11, 12; 13:3.

with: For this verse, the Greek word pros mean to near person and do something together with the person. E still show say na two people this verse de talk about, the Word and the only true God.

the Word na god: Or “the Word be like god.” “The Word” na Jesus Christ. (Check study note for the Word). John no de talk for here say the Word and Almighty God na the same person. Why we talk so? That verse talk-am clear say “the Word” be dey “with God.” So the two of them no be the same. Jesus na the firstborn Son of God. And God use Jesus create all other things. So because of this one, Bible talk say Jesus na “god or be like god.”. For some Bible translation for English, French, and German, they translate this verse, the way e dey for New World Translation. The meaning wey their translation give people na say “the Word” “be like god.” Col 2:9 talk say Jesus Christ get “all the complete character of God.” And 2Pe 1:4 talk say even people wey go join Jesus rule for heaven ‘go still be like god.’ For Septuagint, the two Hebrew word for “God,” ʼel and ʼelo·himʹ, mean to “be like god” for Greek language. The meaning of this two Hebrew word na “Mighty One (Person wey e get power) or Strong One.” So if we call the Word, “god,” or “mighty one,” e agree with Isa 9:6 wey talk say they go call Messiah “Mighty God” (no be “Almighty God”).

(John 1:29) The next day, as e see Jesus de come, e talk say: “See, the Lamb of God! The person wey de take away the sin of the world!

nwtsty study note for Joh 1:29

the Lamb of God: Devil tempt Jesus, after Jesus baptize. Na after this one, John the Baptist call Jesus “the Lamb of God.” For Bible, na only for this verse and Joh 1:36, they write this word. (Check App. A7.) Bible compare Jesus with lamb. For nation of Israel that time, when person sin, e go use lamb do sacrifice, so that God go forgive e sin. This sacrifice, represent the sacrifice wey Jesus do as e die for our sin. Other Bible verse still talk something wey concern “the Lamb of God.” John the Baptist really sabi the part of Bible wey they write before his time. And e fit be say na some verse for there, dey e mind when e use the word “Lamb of God. For example: the male sheep wey Abraham be sacrifice instead of e pikin, Isaac (Ge 22:13), the Passover lamb wey Israel people be kill for Egypt so that God go free them (Ex 12:1-13), or the male lamb wey them de sacrifice for altar that time, every morning and evening for Jerusalem (Ex 29:38-42). E fit still be say, John de think of wetin Isaiah don talk before. Isaiah talk say they go carry the person wey Jehovah call “my servant” like “sheep wey they want go kill.” (Isa 52:13; 53:5, 7, 11) For the first letter wey apostle Paul write give the Corinthians, e talk say Jesus na “our Passover lamb.” (1Co 5:7) Apostle Peter still talk say the blood of Jesus Christ, resemble the ‘blood of lamb wey fine and wey nothing do-am for body.’ (1Pe 1:19) And e pass 25 times wey Revelation call Jesus Christ “the Lamb.”—Some example dey for: Re 5:8; 6:1; 7:9; 12:11; 13:8; 14:1; 15:3; 17:14; 19:7; 21:9; 22:1.

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | JOHN 3-4

“Jesus Preach to One Samaritan Woman”

(John 4:6, 7) In short, the well of Jacob, dey there. And because Jesus don really tire from the journey, e sit-down near the well. And the time na around the sixth hour. 7 One woman from Samaria come draw water for the well. So Jesus tell the woman say: “Give me water make I drink.”

nwtsty study note for Joh 4:6

Jesus don really tire: Joh 4:6 na the only Bible verse where they talk say Jesus “really tire.” The time na around 12’ 0 clock for afternoon. But e be like say that morning, Jesus don already trek or journey from Jordan Valley for Judea go Sychar for Samaria. This one mean say Jesus climb hill wey e fit be about 900 m (3,000 ft) or wey e pass.—Joh 4:3-5; check App. A7.

(John 4:21-24) Jesus tell the woman say: “I de tell you true, woman, time de come when wuna no go worship the Father for this mountain or for Jerusalem. 22 Wuna no know who wuna de worship; we know who we de worship, because salvation start with Jew people. 23 But the time de come, and na now, when the real worshippers go worship the Father with spirit and truth. True-true, na this kind people the Father want make they worship him. 24 God na Spirit. Anybody wey de worship God, must worship God with spirit and truth.”

(John 4:39-41) Plenty Samaritan from that city put faith for Jesus because the woman tell them say: “E tell me everything wey I don do.” 40 So when the Samaritans meet Jesus, they talk say make e stay with them, and e stay for two days. 41 And this one make more people believe because of wetin e talk,

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(John 3:29) Na the man wey de marry get the woman wey de marry. But when the friend of the man stand and hear his voice, e go really happy say e hear the voice of his friend. So my joy don complete.

nwtsty study note for Joh 3:29

the friend of the man wey de marry: For the time of Jesus, the man wey de marry fit get one tight friend. Na this friend de represent him for everything. For example, e de arrange how things go be for the marriage. People de see-am as person wey bring the husband and wife together. For the wedding day, the wife and her friends go dance go the house of her husband or the house of her father-in-law. Na there they go do the marriage. As the marriage de go on, the friend go happy when e hear the voice of the man wey de marry as e de talk with the wife. E dey happy because e do his work well. John the Baptist compare himself to ‘the friend of the man wey de marry.’ Jesus na the man wey de marry and his disciples as one group na “the woman wey de marry.” John the Baptist prepare the way for Messiah. E bring the first disciples to Jesus Christ. (Joh 1:29, 35; 2Co 11:2; Eph 5:22-27; Re 21:2, 9) As “the friend of the man wey de marry,” John do his work. After e do-am finish, na Jesus and the disciples come dey important pass John. Na that one make John talk say: ‘Jesus must continue de increase but I must continue de reduce.’—Joh 3:30.

(John 4:10) Jesus answer her say: “If you sabi this gift wey God de give for free and the person wey de tell you say, ‘Give me water,’ you for beg him and e go give you water wey de give life.”

nwtsty study note for Joh 4:10

water wey de give life: This Greek word de describe water wey de flow. For example, water wey de flow from rock, or river. E different from water wey dey inside tank. Le 14:5, use the Hebrew word for water wey de flow. This word get the same meaning with “water wey de give life.” And Jer 2:13 and 17:13 describe Jehovah as the Person wey de give this water. This water no be ordinary water. When Jesus de talk with the Samaritan woman e use the word, “water wey de give life.” But when the woman first hear-am, she think say Jesus de talk about ordinary water.—Joh 4:11; check study note for Joh 4:14.

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | JOHN 5-6

“You De Follow Jesus for the Correct Reason?”

(John 6:9-11) “One small boy dey here and e get five bread wey they use barley make and two small fish. But how many people go chop this one?” 10 Jesus talk say: “Tell the men make they sit-down.” As plenty grass dey the place, the men sit-down for there, they reach about 5,000. 11 Jesus take the bread, and after e pray, e share-am give people wey dey there, e still do the same thing for the fish, and they chop as they like.

nwtsty study note for Joh 6:10

the men sit-down for there, they reach about 5,000: Na only for the book of Matthew they write say ‘women and children’ dey among people wey Jesus feed. (Mt 14:21) E fit be say the number of people wey Jesus give food that day pass 15,000 people.

(John 6:14) When people see the miracle wey Jesus do, they start de talk say: “This na really the Prophet wey they talk say go come this world.”

(John 6:24) So when the people no see Jesus and his disciples for there, they enter their boat, go find Jesus for Capernaum.

nwtsty study note for Joh 6:14

the Prophet: De 18:15, 18, talk say Prophet wey be like Moses go come. Plenty Jews for Jesus time believe say that prophet go be the Messiah. For this verse, e be like say the word “go come this world,” de talk about the Messiah wey Jew people de expect. Na only John write about this things wey dey this verse.

(John 6:25-27) When they see Jesus for the other side of the sea, they ask him say: “Teacher, which time you reach here?” 26 Jesus answer them say: “True-true, I de tell wuna say, wuna no de find me because of the sign wey wuna see, but because wuna chop bread and wuna belleful. 27 Make wuna no work for food wey e no go last. Instead, work for food wey e go last and wey e de give everlasting life. Na this kind food the Son of man de give wuna. And na this one the Father wey be God, don put stamp and e agree.”

(John 6:54) Anybody wey eat my flesh and drink my blood get everlasting life, and I go resurrect the person for the last day;

(John 6:60) When they hear this one, plenty of the disciples talk say: “This one no be better talk; who go want hear-am?”

(John 6:66-69) Because of this one, plenty of his disciples go back, and start de live their former life. They no gree follow Jesus again. 67 So Jesus ask the twelve disciple say: “Wuna want go too?” 68 Simon Peter answer say: “Lord, who we want go meet? Your talk de give everlasting life. 69 We believe and we don know say na you be the Holy one of God.”

nwtsty study note for Joh 6:27, 54

food wey e no go last . . . food wey e go last and wey de give everlasting life: Jesus know say some people de follow him and the disciples because they believe say e go give them wetin they need. Na true say person need food every day. But na only the word of God fit make person live forever. Na e make, Jesus tell the people say make they work for the food wey go last and give them everlasting life. This one mean say, they go try their best make they know God and do wetin them de learn.—Mt 4:4; 5:3; Joh 6:28-39.

eat my flesh and drink my blood: For here, Jesus no mean say they go eat his real flesh and drink his blood. But e de tell them say make they get faith for him. (Joh 6:35, 40) No be the Lord’s Evening Meal Jesus de talk about for here. E talk this thing for 32 C.E., one year before e start the Lord’s Evening Meal. Jesus talk this thing just before the Passover wey Jew people de do. (Joh 6:4) This thing wey e talk fit make them remember the festival wey de come and how the blood of the lamb save them that night for Egypt. (Ex 12:24-27). Jesus de want make them know say e blood go make-am possible for e disciple to get everlasting life.

w05 9/1 21 ¶13-14

We Go Do Everything Wey Jehovah Our God Talk

13 But, the people still find Jesus because they want follow him and they see him as John talk for the other side of the sea. Why they still follow Jesus even though e no gree be their king? Na because many of them want make Jesus give them food. They show this one when they talk how Jehovah give Israel people food for wilderness for the time of Moses. As Jesus know the thing wey dey their heart, e start de teach them truth from the word of God, because this one fit help them change the way them de think. (John 6:17, 24, 25, 30, 31, 35-40) Because of this one, they start de complain, especially when e talk say: “True-true, I de tell wuna, if wuna no drink the blood of the Son of man and eat his flesh, wuna no go ever get life. Anybody wey eat my flesh and drink my blood get everlasting life, and I go resurrect the person for the last day.”—John 6:53, 54.

14 Plenty times, the way Jesus de teach, de make people show whether they really want worship God. Na the same thing this one still do. The thing wey e talk make the people vex. Bible talk say: “When they hear this one, plenty of his disciples talk say: ‘This one no be better talk; who go want hear-am?’” Jesus explain say make the people try understand the meaning of the thing wey e talk. E tell them say: “The spirit de give life, but the flesh na useless thing. Na those things wey I tell wuna be spirit and life.” But plenty people no gree listen again. John write say: “Because of this one, plenty of his disciples go back, and start de live their former life. They no gree follow Jesus again.”—John 6:60, 63, 66.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(John 6:44) No man fit come near me if no be the Father wey send me draw the person. And I go resurrect the person for the last day.

nwtsty study note for Joh 6:44

draw the person: The Greek word for “draw” de describe the way fisher men de drag net wey get plenty fish put for boat. (Joh 21:6, 11) E no mean say God de force people make they come worship him. This word fit still mean to like person and make the person your friend. E fit be say wetin Jesus de talk for this verse connect with Jer 31:3. For there, Jehovah tell the people of Israel say e don use his love wey no de fail draw them. (The Septuagint use the same Greek word for here.) Joh 12:32 show say na the same way Jesus de draw different-different kind of people to himself. Bible show say Jehovah don give everybody right to choose. Everybody go choose by theirself whether they go worship God or not. (De 30:19, 20) God de draw people with good heart small-small, come e side. (Ps 11:5; Pr 21:2; Ac 13:48) Na Bible and holy spirit Jehovah de use do this one. For Joh 6:45, they quote wetin dey Isa 54:13. That place de talk about people wey God go draw to his side.—Compare Joh 6:65.

(John 6:64) But some of wuna no believe.” Because Jesus know from beginning people wey no believe him, and the person wey go sell him.

nwtsty study note for Joh 6:64

Jesus know . . . the person wey go sell him: Na Judas Iscariot Jesus de talk about for here. Before Jesus choose the 12 apostles, e use the whole night pray to his Father. (Lu 6:12-16) So for the beginning, Judas de worship Jehovah well. But because of wetin the prophets don write, Jesus know say somebody wey dey close to him, go sell him. (Ps 41:9; 109:8; Joh 13:18, 19) When Judas start de change, Jesus know because e get the power to know the thing wey person de think. (Mt 9:4) And because Jehovah de know things before they happen, e know say one of the close friend of Jesus go sell him. From wetin God don do before, e dey clear say no be God do-am say na Judas must sell Jesus.

from beginning: This one no de describe the time wey they born Judas or the time wey Jesus choose Judas as apostle. Because Jesus use the whole night pray before e choose his apostles. (Lu 6:12-16) But e de describe the time wey Judas start de do bad things. And Jesus know at once. (Joh 2:24, 25; Re 1:1; 2:23; check study note for Joh 6:70; 13:11.) This one still show say Judas really plan this thing wey e do. For Christian Greek Scriptures, the meaning of the word “beginning” (Greek, ar·kheʹ) de change, depending on how they use-am. One example na 2Pe 3:4. For there, the “beginning” mean the time wey God start de make things. But most times e get other meaning. For example, Peter talk say the way holy spirit fall ontop them for “beginning,” na so e still happen for Gentiles. (Ac 11:15) For here, Peter no de talk about the time they born him, or when Jesus choose him as apostle. But, e de talk about Pentecost 33 C.E., wey be the “beginning” or first time wey Jehovah pour holy spirit ontop people make they fit do his work. (Ac 2:1-4) Other example wey show say the meaning of “beginning” fit change depending on how they use-am na Lu 1:2; Joh 15:27; and 1Jo 2:7.

SEPTEMBER 24-30

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | JOHN 7-8

“Jesus Praise Jehovah”

(John 7:15-18) And the Jew people surprise, and talk say: “How this man know Bible like this when e never receive special training?” 16 Then, Jesus answer them say: “Things wey I de teach no be my own, but na the person wey send me get-am. 17 If anybody want do things wey go make God happy, that person go know if things wey I de teach come from God or na my own idea. 18 Anybody wey de teach his own idea de find his own praise; anybody wey de work for the praise of the person wey send him, this one de talk true and e no de do bad.

cf 100-101 ¶5-6

“They Don Write-am”

5 Jesus be want make people know say e message na from God. Jesus talk say: “Things wey I de teach no be my own, but na the person wey send me get-am.” (John 7:16) For another time, Jesus talk say: “I no de do anything with my own idea; but I de talk this things just the way the Father don teach me.” (John 8:28) Jesus still talk say: “No be me get the things wey I de talk, but na the Father wey dey with me de do his work.” (John 14:10) One way Jesus show say wetin e talk for this verse na true be say, e quote plenty times from God Word.

6 Jesus quote, or take wetin e teach, from more than half of the part of Bible wey they write before his time. You fit see-am as normal thing or even talk say why e no quote from all the book of the Bible wey they write before his time. E fit be say Jesus quote from all the book of the Bible. Remember say na only small thing among all the things wey Jesus teach they write for Bible. (John 21:25) In short, you fit even use only some hours read everything wey Jesus talk and do for Bible. Just think-am say you want use some hours talk about God and his Kingdom. You go fit talk from more than half of that part of Bible? Many times when Jesus de teach, e no hold Bible wey dey that time for hand. When e teach plenty people ontop Mountain, (Sermon on the Mount) e quote plenty place for their Bible that time. E quote all of them from head!

(John 7:28, 29) Then as Jesus de teach for temple, e talk with loud voice say: “Wuna know me and wuna know where I come from. And no be me send myself, but the Person wey send me dey real, and wuna no know who e be. 29 I know who e be, because na me de represent him, and na Him send me.”

(John 8:29) And the one wey send me dey with me; e no leave me make I dey alone, because I de always do wetin e want.”

w11 3/15 11 ¶19

Get the Spirit of God, No Be the One for This World

19 Obey Jehovah for Everything. Jesus always do things wey make e Father happy. One time, e hard for Jesus to do the thing wey Jehovah tell him. But e trust his Father, and e talk say: ‘No allow wetin I want happen, but make wetin you want happen.’ (Luke 22:42) Ask yourself say, ‘I de obey Jehovah even when e no easy?’ If we want get life, we must obey God. We must obey everything wey Jehovah tell us because na e make us and de give us all the thing wey we need. (Ps. 95:6, 7) We no go fit use anything replace-am. If we no de obey God, we no go fit be his friend.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(John 7:8-10) Make wuna de go the festival; I never ready now, because my time never really come.” 9 So after e tell them this things, e still stay for Galilee. 10 But after his brothers don go, Jesus still go the festival, but e no gree make people see him.

w07 2/1 6 ¶4

Why E Good Make We De Talk True?

Wetin we fit learn from Jesus for this matter? One time, Jesus be de talk with some people wey want know his plan about the festival. They tell Jesus say make e go Judea, but Jesus tell them say: “Make wuna de go the festival [for Jerusalem]; I never ready to go now, because my time never really come.” But small time after, Jesus go Jerusalem for the festival. Why Jesus answer them like that? Na because they no get the right to know the place wey Jesus want go and why. Jesus no lie to them, but e no give them complete answer. This one fit be to protect him and his disciples from anything wey the people fit plan against them. Wetin apostle Peter write show say Jesus no lie. E write say: “E no commit any sin, and lie-lie no dey his mouth.”—John 7:1-13; 1 Pet. 2:22.

(John 8:58) Jesus tell them say: “True-true I de tell wuna say, before they born Abraham, I don dey.”

nwtsty study note for Joh 8:58

I don dey: Some Jew people be want kill Jesus because e talk say e don see Abraham. They talk say how Jesus wey never reach 50 years go see Abraham. (Joh 8:57) This one make Jesus tell them say before they born Abraham, e don be angel for heaven. Some people talk say this verse de talk say Jesus na God. They talk say the Greek word e·goʹ ei·miʹ (some Bible translate-am as “I be”), wey they use for this verse, de describe Ex 3:14. So, they suppose translate the two verse the same way. (Check study note for Joh 4:26.) But for this verse, the meaning wey the Greek word ei·miʹ get, be say Jesus don dey before they born Abraham and e still dey. So e correct as they translate-am as “I don dey” instead of “I be.” Even self, plenty Bible use the word “I don dey.” For Joh 14:9, they still use the same Greek word translate wetin Jesus tell Philip, e say: “Even after I don dey with wuna for this long time, you never still know me?” For plenty Bible, they still translate this Greek word ei·miʹ wey dey Joh 14:9, as “I don dey.” Another thing be say, the thing wey Jesus talk for Joh 8:54, 55 show say e no claim to be God.
