FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | JOHN 20-21

“You Love Me Pass This Things?”

(John 21:1-3) After this things, Jesus appear again to the disciples, for the Sea of Ti·beʹri·as. This na wetin happen. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (wey they still de call the Twin), Na·thanʹa·el wey come from Caʹna of Galʹi·lee, sons of Zebʹe·dee, and two other disciples dey together. 3 Then, Simon Peter tell them say: “I want go catch fish.” They tell Peter say: “We go follow you.” They comot, and enter boat, but for that night, they no catch any fish.

(John 21:4-14) But as day just de break, Jesus stand near the Sea, but the disciples no know say na Jesus. 5 Then, Jesus ask them say: “My dear friends, wuna get anything wey wuna go chop?” They answer say: “No!” 6 Jesus tell them say: “Throw the net for the right hand side of the boat, and wuna go catch some fish.” So they throw the net for there, but they no fit drag-am put inside the boat because the fish plenty. 7 Then the disciple wey Jesus love tell Peter say: “Na the Lord!” And as Peter hear say na the lord, e wear e cloth, because e be don remove-am, and e jump enter the sea. 8 But the other disciples use the small boat come. They drag the net wey fish full inside come because they no far from dry land. They only dey about 300 feet from the land. 9 When they reach dry land, they see charcoal fire with fish ontop and bread. 10 Jesus tell them say: “Make wuna bring some of the fish wey wuna just catch now.” 11 So Simon Peter enter the boat, and drag the net wey plenty big fish dey inside, come out. Na 153 fish dey inside. Even as the fish plenty, the net no tear. 12 Jesus tell them say: “Make wuna come take breakfast.” No one among the disciples get the heart to ask Jesus say: “You be who?” because all of them know say na the Lord. 13 Jesus come, e take the bread and e give them, and na so e still do with the fish. 14 This na the third time wey Jesus be appear to the disciples after e resurrect.

(John 21:15-19) When they don finish their breakfast, Jesus ask Simon Peter say: “Simon son of John, you love me pass this things?” E answer Jesus say: “Yes, Lord, you know say I really love you.” Then Jesus tell Peter say: “Feed my small-small sheep.” 16 The second time, Jesus ask Peter again say: “Simon son of John, you love me?” Peter answer say: “Yes, Lord, you know say I really love you.” E tell Peter say: “Take care of my small-small sheep.” 17 Jesus ask Peter the third time say: “Simon son of John, you really love me?” Peter no happy at all say Jesus ask this question the third time: “You really love me?” So e tell Jesus say: “Lord, you sabi everything; you know say I really love you.” So Jesus tell-am say: “Feed my small-small sheep.  18 True-true I de tell you, when you young pass like this, you de wear cloth by yourself and de waka go anywhere wey you want go. But when you don old, you go stretch your hand and another man go wear you cloth and carry you go the place wey you no want go.” 19 E talk this one to show the kind way, wey Peter go die to honor God. After e talk this one, e tell Peter say: “Continue to follow me.”

nwtsty study note for Joh 21:15, 17

Jesus ask Simon Peter say: This talk wey Jesus be get with Peter happen small time after Peter don deny Jesus three times. Jesus ask Peter three question to know whether Peter really love him. Peter no happy at all as Jesus ask the question three times. (Joh 21:17) For Joh 21:15-17, na two different Greek word they use. This two word na a·ga·paʹo, wey e mean love, and phi·leʹo, wey e mean really love. Na two times Jesus ask Peter say: “You love me?” And Peter answer say e “really love” Jesus. The third time, Jesus ask Peter say: “You really love me?” Peter still answer say e really love Jesus. All the time wey Peter answer say e love Jesus, Jesus talk wetin show say e want make that love move Peter to feed and “care” for e “small-small sheep.” This one mean say make Peter help the disciples get strong faith. (Joh 21:16, 17; 1Pe 5:1-3) As Jesus ask Peter this question three times, e make Peter fit answer three times say e really love Jesus. After this one, Jesus give Peter work to care for the sheep. This one make-am clear say, Jesus don forgive Peter for the three times wey e deny Jesus.

you love me pass this things?: Person fit understand this question for different-different way. Some professor talk say Jesus de ask Peter say “you love me pass this other disciples?” or “the love wey you get for me pass the one wey this disciples get for me?” But, e be like say the correct meaning for here na “you love me pass this things?” “This things,” mean the fish wey Peter and the other disciples catch that time or things wey concern their fish business. So e be like say the main point of the question wey Jesus ask Peter na say: ‘If you love me pass business and things for this world, then, care for my small-small sheep.’ The question wey Jesus ask Peter na good one because of the kind work wey Peter de do before. Even though Peter dey among the first disciples of Jesus (Joh 1:35-42), e no immediately follow Jesus full-time. But e go back for e fishing work. After some few month, Jesus tell Peter to leave e big fishing business and come de ‘catch people.’ (Mt 4:18-20; Lu 5:1-11) And small time after Jesus die, Peter talk say e want go catch fish, and the other apostles follow-am. (Joh 21:2, 3) So e be like say with this question, Jesus de tell Peter say make e choose wetin e want really do with e life: Na to de catch fish, e go put as number one thing for e life, or na the work wey Jesus don put for e hand go be number one?—Joh 21:4-8.

the third time: Peter don first deny Jesus three times; so Jesus give Peter three chance to prove say e still love him. As Peter show say e still love Jesus, Jesus tell Peter make e put the preaching of the good news as number one thing for e life. Peter and other disciples go make sure say they feed and take care of Jesus faithful sheep. They go still help the sheep get faith strong. And they go do this one even though the sheep na anointed.—Lu 22:32.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(John 20:17) Jesus tell her say: “No hold me tight like that, because I never de go up to meet the Father. But go meet my brothers and tell them say, ‘I de go up, go meet my Father and wuna Father and my God and wuna God.’”

nwtsty study note for Joh 20:17

No hold me tight like that: The Greek word haʹpto·mai fit mean “to touch,” or “to hold tight,” or “to hang for something.” For some Bible, they translate this word as “no touch me.” But no be just touch Jesus de talk about for here because e no complain when other women hold e leg after God resurrect him. (Mt 28:9) E be like say Mary Magdalene de fear say Jesus want go back to heaven at once. So na because e want stay with Jesus, make-am e hold Jesus so that e no go leave her. To show say e still dey with them, Jesus tell Mary say: ‘No hold me tight like that, but go tell my disciples say I don resurrect.’

(John 20:28) So Thomas answer Jesus say: “My Lord and my God!”

nwtsty study note for Joh 20:28

My Lord and my God!: Some professor talk say Thomas talk this thing because e surprise as Jesus just appear, no be say e de talk say Jesus na God. Other professor talk say the original Greek word show say na Jesus, Thomas get for mind when e say “my Lord and my God.” Even if this one na true, we go understand the real meaning of wetin Thomas talk, if we compare-am with other part of Bible. As e be say Jesus don first send message to them say, “I de go up, go meet my Father and wuna Father and my God and wuna God,” e dey clear say Thomas no de talk say Jesus na almighty God. (Check study note for Joh 20:17.) Thomas don still hear when Jesus de pray to e Father. And for the prayer, Jesus call e Father, “the only true God.” (Joh 17:1-3) E fit be say Thomas call Jesus “my God” because, (1) e see Jesus as “god” but no be the almighty God. (Check study note for Joh 1:1.) (2) e de follow the example of servant of God for olden days. They call angels wey Jehovah send come this earth “Jehovah.” And e fit be say Thomas know Bible story or Bible writer wey talk with angel or about angel like say na Jehovah. (Compare Ge 16:7-11, 13; 18:1-5, 22-33; 32:24-30; Jg 6:11-15; 13:20-22.) So, e fit be say na this kind mind Thomas get when e call Jesus “my God” to show say na Jehovah send Jesus come.

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | ACTS 1-3

“The Christian Congregation Receive Holy Spirit”

(Acts 2:1-8) For the day of Pentecost, all of them gather for one place, as the festival de go on. 2 At once, they hear noise from heaven, like heavy breeze wey de blow with force. E fill the whole house wey they sitdown. 3  And they see something wey e resemble small-small fire, and e spread and one stay on top each person head, 4 and holy spirit enter all of them, and they start to speak different-different language, as the spirit de make them talk. 5 That time, Jews wey de fear God from all nation for this earth de Jerusalem. 6 When they hear this noise, plenty people gather, and they start to wonder because each person de hear e own language from this people. 7 E really surprise them and they talk say: “See, all this people wey de talk na Gal·i·leʹans, or they no be Gal·i·leʹans? 8 But how manage each of us de hear e own native language?

(Acts 2:14) But Peter and the eleven apostles stand up, and talk with loud voice say: “People of Judea and all of wuna wey de stay for Jerusalem, make wuna listen well to wetin I want talk and know this one.

(Acts 2:37, 38) So, as they hear this one, e really worry them, then they ask Peter and the other apostles say: “Men, brothers, wetin we go do?” 38 Peter answer them say: “Make wuna repent and make each of wuna baptize in the name of Jesus Christ so that God go forgive wuna sin. And wuna go receive the holy spirit for free.

(Acts 2:41) So all the people wey believe wetin Peter talk with all their heart, baptize and that day na about 3,000 people join them.

(Acts 2:42-47) And they continue to learn from the apostles, de do things together, de chop and de pray. 43 The apostles start to do plenty miracle, all the people see-am and start de fear. 44 All the new believers dey together and de share everything wey they get with each other, 45 and they sell their land and things wey they get and they share the money for everybody according to wetin each person need. 46 And everyday, them de always go temple with one mind. And they chop together for their different-different house and they really happy to share their food with all their heart. 47 Them de praise God and de get favor from all the people. And the same time, Jehovah continue to add people wey e don save join them.

w86 12/1 29 ¶4-5, 7

Contributions Wey De Make Person Happy

For the first day wey the Christian congregation start for the year 33 C.E., the 3,000 people wey newly convert de share things with one another, de chop together and de pray together. Why them do-am? Na because e go help them make their faith grow as they “continue to learn from the apostles.”—Acts 2:41, 42.

People for Jew religion come Jerusalem with the mind say na only the Festival of Pentecost them go celebrate. But some of them become Christians. So this ones wey become Christians want stay for Jerusalem for some time so that they go learn more and make their faith strong. Because of this one, plenty of them, need house to stay and food to chop. Some of them no get enough money but others get surplus. So they gather their things together and share-am according to wetin each person need.—Acts 2:43-47.

Nobody force them to sell their things and share-am with other people. No be must for person to sell or contribute wetin e get. This one no mean say they want make everybody poor. The reason for this arrangement no be for rich members to sell all their things so that they go become poor people. But na because of their good heart, and the condition wey their fellow believers dey that time. They sell their things and contribute all the money so that they go fit support the work of God.—Compare 2 Corinthians 8:12-15.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(Acts 3:15) and wuna kill the Chief Agent of life. But God resurrect-am, this one na true and we see-am.

it-2 61 ¶1

Jesus Christ

“Chief Agent of life.” Jesus use e perfect life do sacrifice for us. This one show the kind love wey Jehovah get for us. Because of this one, anointed Christians go join Jesus rule for heaven, and other people go dey for this earth and the Kingdom of God go rule over them. (Mt 6:10; Joh 3:16; Eph 1:7; Heb 2:5; check RANSOM.) Na this one make Jesus “the Chief Agent [“Prince,” KJ; JB] of life,” for everybody. (Ac 3:15) The Greek word wey they use for this verse mean “chief leader.” Na this kind word they use describe Moses (Ac 7:27, 35) as “person wey de rule” for Israel.

(Acts 3:19) “So make wuna repent and turn back so that they go wipe all wuna sin, and wuna go fit enjoy the rest of mind wey Jehovah go de give wuna

cl 265 ¶14

God Wey Ready to Forgive

14 Acts 3:19 still talk more about the way Jehovah de forgive, e say: “So make wuna repent and turn back so that they go wipe all wuna sin.” The word wey they translate as wipe for Greek language fit mean “to clean something comot,. . . to cancel or to destroy something.” Some professor describe-am as to clean wetin person write. How that one fit happen? That time for Israel, na carbon, gum and water, people de use make ink. Small time after person use this kind ink write, e fit use wet sponge clean wetin e write. This one really describe how Jehovah de forgive us. When Jehovah forgive us, e just be like say e use sponge clean or wipe our sin.

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | ACTS 4-5

“They No Fear, They Continue to Preach”

(Acts 4:5-13) The next day, people wey de rule them, their elders, and scribes gather together for Jerusalem, 6 with Anʹnas wey be chief priest, Caʹia·phas, John, Alexander, and all the people wey come from the family of the chief priest. 7 They put Peter and John for their middle and start to ask them say: “Who give wuna power or with which person name wuna do this thing?” 8 Then holy spirit make Peter tell them say: “Elders and wuna wey de rule, 9 if wuna de ask us question today because of this good thing wey happen to this crippled man, and wuna want know who make-am well, 10 make all of wuna and all the people for Israel know say, na with the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, wey wuna kill ontop stake but wey God resurrect, na with e power this man don well and stand for wuna front. 11 Na this Jesus be ‘that stone wey wuna wey de build house reject as useless stone, but now e don become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 So, no other person dey wey go fit save us, because e no get any other name under heaven wey they don give among people wey go fit save us.” 13 Now, as Peter and John no fear to talk, e really surprise them, because they know say the two of them na ordinary people wey no go school. But they remember say them be dey with Jesus.

From Word Wey They Talk to Holy Book—How People De Write for the Time of the Apostles

Na True Say the Apostles No Go School?

When the people wey de rule and the older men for Jerusalem see say “Peter and John no fear to talk, e really surprise them, because they know say the two of them na ordinary people wey no go school.” (Acts 4:13) Na true say the apostles no really go school? See wetin The New Interpreter’s Bible talk about this matter: “This verse no mean say Peter and John no go school at all, and say they no fit read or write. But e just de show say the apostles, na low class people.”

w08 5/15 30 ¶6

Lesson From the Book of Acts

4:13—Na true say Peter and John no go school? No! As this verse say they be “ordinary people wey no go school,” e mean say they no go the kind special school wey the scribes and Pharisees that time, de go.

(Acts 4:18-20) So they call them and warn them say make they no talk anything at all or teach with the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answer them say: “Make wuna judge-am by wunaself, whether e good for the eyes of God to do wetin wuna want instead of wetin God want. 20 But as for us, we no fit stop to talk about the things wey we don see and hear.”

(Acts 4:23-31) After the people release them, they go meet their own people and tell them wetin the chief priests and the elders talk. 24 As they hear-am, all of them use one mind pray to God say: “Sovereign Lord, na You make heaven and earth and sea and everything wey dey inside them. 25 With the holy spirit, you use David our forefather, wey be your servant talk say: ‘Why the nations de vex, and why people de put mind for useless things? 26 The kings for this earth and the people wey de rule, gather together against Jehovah and against the anointed one.’ 27 True-true, for this city, Herod and Pontius Pilate with men of the nations and people of Israel gather against Jesus, your holy servant wey you anoint, 28 so that they go do wetin you don talk since, say e go happen. Because you get the power and na wetin you want. 29 And now, Jehovah, make you hear the things wey them de tell us to make us fear, and continue to give your servants strong heart to talk your word, 30 and make you use your power de cure sickness and de do plenty miracle with the name of your servant, Jesus.” 31 And after they don pray finish, the place wey they gather shake, and all of them for there receive holy spirit, and they preach the word of God without fear.

it-1 128 ¶3

Apostle

Things wey happen for the Congregation. The holy spirit wey God give the apostles for Pentecost, really give them power. The first five chapters of the book of Acts, show say even though the people wey de rule put the apostles for prison, beat them and threaten to kill them, the apostles no fear, they continue to preach with strong mind. Because of the way the holy spirit help the apostles, after Pentecost, plenty people join the congregation. (Ac 2:41; 4:4) They start their preaching work for Jerusalem, after they take-am go Samaria, and small-small, e reach the whole earth.—Ac 5:42; 6:7; 8:5-17, 25; 1:8.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(Acts 4:11) Na this Jesus be ‘that stone wey wuna wey de build house reject as useless stone, but now e don become the chief cornerstone.’

it-1 514 ¶4

Cornerstone

Psalm 118:22 talk say na the stone wey people wey de build reject, go become “the head of the corner” (Heb., roʼsh pin·nahʹ). Jesus use wetin dey this verse explain say na e be “the chief cornerstone,” (Gr., ke·pha·leʹ go·niʹas, head of the corner). (Mt 21:42; Mr 12:10, 11; Lu 20:17) E dey easy to see the stone wey dey up for the front of any house. Na the same thing with Jesus, the stone wey dey up for the congregation of anointed Christians. This congregation be like the temple of God. Peter still quote Psalm 118:22. E talk say na Jesus Christ be “the stone” wey people reject but wey God choose to become the main stone for the corner of the building.—Ac 4:8-12; still check 1Pe 2:4-7.

(Acts 5:1) But one man wey e name na An·a·niʹas with e wife Sap·phiʹra, sell some property,

w13 3/1 15 ¶4

Wetin We Fit Learn From Wetin Peter and Ananias Do

Ananias and e wife sell some property so that they fit help people wey newly baptize. When e bring the money to the apostles, e talk say na all the money wey they sell the property be that. But no be true! E don hide some of the money. God make Peter know wetin Ananias do, so e tell Ananias say no be person e lie to, but na God. At once, Ananias fall for ground and e die. After about three hours, e wife come. E no know wetin happen to e husband, so e still lie, fall for ground, and e die.

NOVEMBER 26–DECEMBER 2

FINE-FINE LESSON FROM BIBLE | ACTS 6-8

“The New Congregation Face Temptation”

(Acts 6:1) That time, as the disciples de plenty, disciples wey de speak Greek start to complain against disciples wey de speak Hebrew, because they no de give their widows the food wey them de share everyday.

bt 41 ¶17

“Na God We Go Obey as Ruler”

17 Now problem come dey among brothers and sisters for the new congregation. Wetin be the problem? Plenty of the disciple wey just baptize na visitors for Jerusalem, and they want learn more before they go back. The disciples wey de stay Jerusalem use all their heart contribute money wey they need for food and other things. (Acts 2:44-46; 4:34-37) Now, serious problem come. For “the food wey them de share everyday,” they no de give the widows wey de speak Greek their own share. (Acts 6:1) But the widows wey de speak Hebrew, de get their own share. So e be like say wetin de cause this one, na because the disciples wey de speak Hebrew de feel say they better pass the disciples wey de speak Greek. This na really serious problem wey fit scatter the congregation.

(Acts 6:2-7) So the Twelve call the plenty disciples together and tell them say: “E no good for us to leave the work of God come de share food. 3 So brothers, make wuna select seven men from among wuna with good character, better sense and holy spirit, so that we go give them this important work; 4 but our own work na to pray and preach about the word of God.” 5 All the people like wetin they talk, so they select Stephen, man wey get strong faith and God spirit, they still select Philip, Prochʹo·rus, Ni·caʹnor, Tiʹmon, Parʹme·nas, and Nic·o·laʹus, wey come from Antioch and wey don convert to Jew religion. 6 They take them go meet the apostles, and after the apostles pray, they put their hand ontop them. 7 Because of this one, the word of God continue to go far, and the number of disciples continue to plenty for Jerusalem; and plenty of the priests become disciples.

bt 42 ¶18

“Na God We Go Obey as Ruler”

18 As the congregation de grow, na the apostles be governing body. They see-am say e no go good for them ‘to leave the work of God come de share food.’ (Acts 6:2) To settle the matter, they tell the disciple say make they look for seven men wey get “better sense and holy spirit,” so that they fit “give them this important work.” (Acts 6:3) They need this kind people because e fit be say their work no go only be to share food. They go still need to buy other things, keep money and keep good record of things. All the people wey they choose get Greek name, e fit be say this one make-am easy for the Greek widows to accept them. So after they pray about the matter, the apostles put this “important work” for their hand.

(Acts 7:58–8:1) They drag Stephen go outside the city and start to stone him. The people keep their cloth for the place wey one young man stand. The man name na Saul. 59 As them de stone Stephen, e talk say: “Lord Jesus, abeg my life dey for your hand.” 60 Then e kneel down and cry with strong voice say: “Abeg Jehovah, no hold them for this sin.” After e talk-am, e die.

8 For Saul heart, e like-am as they kill Stephen. That day, they really suffer the congregation for Jerusalem; everybody scatter go different-different area for Ju·deʹa and Sa·marʹi·a, but na only the apostles remain.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(Acts 6:15) And as all the people wey dey the Sanhedrin de look Stephen, they see say e face be like the face of angel.

bt 45 ¶2

Stephen Really Get Favor and Power From God

2 Now, as the people wey de judge Stephen case de look e face, they see something special about e face. They see say e “face be like the face of angel.” (Acts 6:15) Angels de bring message from Jehovah so they no de fear, them dey calm, and they no de cause trouble. Na so Stephen be, even the people wey de judge the case see-am. Why e de calm like this?

(Acts 8:26-30) But the angel of Jehovah tell Philip say: “Stand up and go the road from Jerusalem to Gaza, for south.” (This na desert road.) 27 So e stand up go. E see one Ethiopia man wey get high position for Ethiopia government. E de help Candace, the queen of Ethiopia, and de care for all her property. E de come back from Jerusalem where e go worship Jehovah. 28 As e de come back, e sitdown for e chariot, and e de read the book of prophet Isaiah aloud. 29 So the spirit tell Philip say: “Go meet this chariot.” 30 Philip run follow the chariot, e hear as the man de read the book of prophet Isaiah and e ask the man say: “You really understand wetin you de read?”

bt 58 ¶16

Preach the Good News About Jesus

16 Today we too de do the kind work wey Philip do. Plenty times, no be only from house to house we de preach. We de preach for other time, like when we de travel. Most times, to meet person wey really get good mind to know the truth no be by chance. We expect to meet people like that because Bible talk say na angels de direct this preaching work. Na this one make the message de reach “every country, and tribe and language and people.” (Rev. 14:6) Jesus don talk-am say angels go direct this work. For the story about the wheat and the grass, Jesus talk say for harvest season—the ending of the system of things—na the angels de do the harvest. E still talk say the angels go remove all the things wey de make people fall and people wey no de follow the law, from e Kingdom. (Matt. 13:37-41) And at the same time, they go gather people wey go join Jesus rule for heaven. After, they go gather the people wey go live forever for this earth. Jehovah want make them come e organization.—Rev. 7:9; John 6:44, 65; 10:16.
