“To Dey Single Na Gift”

(1 Corinthians 7:32) True-true, I want make wuna dey free from anything wey e go worry wuna. Man wey e no marry de worry about the things of the Lord, how e fit make the Lord happy.

w11 1/15 17-18 ¶3

If You Dey Single, Use Your Time Well

Single person de normally get plenty time and freedom pass married person. (1 Cor. 7:32-35) This one na special chance for single person to do more for Jehovah, to show more love to people, and to draw near to Jehovah more-more. Some Christians don see say benefit dey when person dey single and they don decide to “make space for-am” at least for some time. Other Christians fit no get plan to dey single, but when their situation change, they pray about their situation and with help from Jehovah, they make up their mind. They accept their situation and choose to remain single.—1 Cor. 7:37, 38.

(1 Corinthians 7:33, 34) But man wey e don marry de worry about the things of the world, how e go fit do things wey e wife like, 34 and this one de make e heart dey two side. And again, woman wey e never marry, and wey e never sleep with man, de worry about the things of the Lord. E want make e dey holy for e body and e spirit. But, woman wey e don marry de worry for things of this world, how e go make e husband happy.

w08 7/15 27 ¶1

Lesson From the Letters to the Corinthians

7:33, 34—Wetin be the “things of the world” wey married man or woman de worry about? For here, Paul de talk about everyday things for life wey married Christians de think about. Food to chop, clothes to wear, and house dey among this things. But bad things for this world wey Christians go run from no dey among wetin apostle Paul mean.—1 John 2:15-17.

(1 Corinthians 7:37, 38) If anybody don make up e mind, and e no get anything wey e de disturb e heart, but e get power to do anything wey e want, and e don make up e mind say e no go marry, e go do fine. 38 For the same way, if person marry, e do fine, but person wey e no marry go do better.

w96 10/15 12-13 ¶14

To Dey Single Na Big Chance for Person to Use All E Time Serve Jehovah

14 Single Christian wey e de use all e time to find money and do things for e own gain, no de do “better” pass married Christian. E dey single no be “because of the Kingdom,” but for e own gain. (Matthew 19:12) The single man or woman suppose “de worry about the things of the Lord,” about “how e go make the Lord happy,” and de ‘use all e time do the work of the Lord.’ E mean say e go use all e time work for Jehovah and Jesus Christ. Na only when single Christian do this one we fit talk say e de do “better” pass married Christians.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(1 Corinthians 7:11) But if e leave e husband, make e no marry another person, or make e go settle with e husband; and make husband no leave e wife.

lvs 251

Endnote

Sometimes, some Christians don choose to separate from their husbands or wives even if no one among them do sex wey e bad. (1 Corinthians 7:11) See some situation wey Christian fit decide to separate from e husband or wife:

• If husband no gree provide: When husband decide say e no go provide for e family, sotey the family no get any money or food to chop.—1 Timothy 5:8.

• If one of them de treat the other one for very bad way: If husband de treat e wife or wife de treat the husband for bad way sotey the life of the wife or husband dey for danger.—Galatians 5:19-21.

• If the relationship wey husband or wife get with Jehovah dey for danger: If the husband or wife de make-am difficult for one of them to serve Jehovah.—Acts 5:29.

(1 Corinthians 7:36) But if anybody de think say e no fit control e self as e no marry, and if e don pass the age when body go de push person for sex, then make e do this thing: Make e do wetin e want; e no sin. Make them marry.

w00 7/15 31 ¶2

You Fit Live Clean Life for This Dirty World

Make young people no rush enter marriage when their body just de push them for sex. Marriage na big promise, and to keep that promise, person need to dey mature. (Genesis 2:24) E good for person to wait until e don “pass the age wey e body de push him for sex.” This one na the period when person de get strong feelings for sex and this one fit no make person think well. (1 Corinthians 7:36) E no make sense and na big sin for person wey e don reach to marry to go sleep with another person just because e never see person wey e go marry!

“Jehovah No De Fail”

(1 Corinthians 10:13) Nothing don tempt wuna wey never tempt another person before. But God no de fail, and e no go allow the temptation pass wuna power. But as the temptation de come, e go help wuna make wuna fit endure-am.

w17.02 29-30

Question Wey Some People Don Ask

Apostle Paul write say Jehovah “no go allow the temptation pass wuna power.” (1 Cor. 10:13) This one mean say Jehovah de first check whether we fit bear the problem and then choose the kind problem wey we go face?

▪ Think of wetin this one mean. One brother wey e pikin kill e self ask say: ‘Na true say Jehovah de first check say, me and my wife fit endure if our pikin kill e self? Na true say na because God don see say we fit endure-am, na e make my pikin kill e self?’ Any reason dey to believe say Jehovah de control things for our life as to wetin e feel say we fit bear?

If we check wetin Paul talk for 1 Corinthians 10:13 again, e go help us understand wetin this verse mean. No place for Bible de teach say Jehovah de first check whether we fit bear problem and then choose the kind problem wey we fit face. Make we check four reasons why fit talk so.

Number one, Jehovah don give people the freedom to choose. E want make we choose how we want live our life. (Deut. 30:19, 20; Josh. 24:15) If we choose the right way, we fit beg Jehovah to direct us. (Prov. 16:9) But if we choose the wrong way, we go suffer the trouble wey e go follow-am. (Gal. 6:7) If na Jehovah de choose the kind problem wey we de face, e go mean say e no de allow us enjoy our freedom to choose.

Number two, Jehovah no de protect us from ‘time and wetin we no expect.’ (Eccl. 9:11) Accident fit cause plenty problem for people. This accident fit happen because we dey for the wrong place for the wrong time. Jesus be talk about one big building wey e fall on top 18 people and kill all of them. Jesus talk say this bad thing happen, no be because God want-am like that. (Luke 13:1-5) E no go make sense to think say when something wey we no expect happen, God don already choose who go live and who go die.

Number three, all of us one by one must show say we de support Jehovah and say the thing wey Satan talk na lie. Remember, Satan talk say people no de serve Jehovah for good reason. E talk say we go leave Jehovah if we face problem. (Job 1:9-11; 2:4; Rev. 12:10) If Jehovah no de allow us face some kind problem because e feel say we no fit endure-am, this one go mean say the thing wey Satan talk na true, say we de serve God because we want gain something

Number four, Jehovah no need to know everything wey e go happen to us for future. If person talk say God de first choose the problem wey we go face, e mean say God must know everything about wetin go happen to us for future. This one no be wetin Bible de teach. Na true say God fit know wetin go happen for future. (Isa. 46:10) But Bible don help us see say God de select wetin e want know about the future. (Gen. 18:20, 21; 22:12) Even though say Jehovah get the power to know wetin go happen for future, e still de allow us use our freedom to choose. This one na wetin we suppose expect from God, because e really want make we get the freedom to choose and e de always use the qualities wey e get for perfect way.—Deut. 32:4; 2 Cor. 3:17.

So wetin Paul mean when e say: “God . . . no go allow the temptation pass wuna power”? For this verse, Paul de tell us wetin Jehovah de do when we de face problem no be before the problem come. Wetin Paul write for this verse de make us dey sure say no matter the problem wey we face for life, if we trust Jehovah, e go help us. (Ps. 55:22) Two reasons dey why the thing wey Paul talk na true.

First reason, any problem wey we de face today, people don face-am before. The kind problems wey we de face today na wetin people don face. This problems no go pass our power if we continue to trust say God go help us. (1 Pet. 5:8, 9) For 1 Corinthians 10:13, Paul de talk about the problems wey Israel people face for wilderness. (1 Cor. 10:6-11) All the problems wey Israel people face, people don experience-am before and e no pass their power. Four times Paul talk say “some of them” no do wetin God want. E pain us to know say Israel people follow wetin their body want because they no trust God.

Second reason, “God no de fail.” The way God treat Israel people show say e no de leave “people wey they love him and de do the thing wey e talk.” (Deut. 7:9) E still show say God de always do the thing wey e promise. (Josh. 23:14) When we look how Jehovah don show for past say e no de ever fail, if we love and de obey God, we fit trust say God go do this two things wey e don promise say e go do when we de face problem. This things na: (1) E no go allow any problem reach the stage wey we no go fit endure-am, and (2) ‘e go help us’ get the power to endure the problem.

When people trust Jehovah, how e de help them when them de face problem? Na true say if Jehovah want, e fit remove the problem. But remember the thing wey Paul write: “E [Jehovah] go help wuna make wuna fit endure-am.” So, plenty times, Jehovah de help us when e give us wetin we need so that we fit endure the problem. Make we see some ways wey Jehovah de help us:

▪ E “de comfort us anytime wey we get problem.” (2 Cor. 1:3, 4) Jehovah fit calm our mind, our heart, and how we de feel, with Bible, with e holy spirit, and the publications wey the faithful slave de give us.—Matt. 24:45; John 14:16, ftn., Rom. 15:4.

▪ E fit use e holy spirit direct us. (John 14:26) When problem come, holy spirit from God fit help us remember stories for Bible and advice for inside Bible, this one fit help us know the correct thing to do.

▪ E fit use e angels help us.—Heb. 1:14.

▪ E fit use our brothers and sisters help us. They fit do things for us or talk something wey e go make heart strong.—Col. 4:11, ftn.

So now, wetin be the meaning of the thing wey Paul talk for 1 Corinthians 10:13? Jehovah no de choose the problem wey we go face. But when problem come for our life, we fit dey sure say: When we trust Jehovah, e no go ever allow the problem pass wetin we fit endure, instead e go always help us so that we fit endure-am. This one de really comfort us!

(1 Corinthians 10:13) Nothing don tempt wuna wey never tempt another person before. But God no de fail, and e no go allow the temptation pass wuna power. But as the temptation de come, e go help wuna make wuna fit endure-am.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) Nothing don tempt wuna wey never tempt another person before. But God no de fail, and e no go allow the temptation pass wuna power. But as the temptation de come, e go help wuna make wuna fit endure-am.

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(1 Corinthians 10:8) Make we no de do sex wey e bad, just as some of them be do sex wey e bad, and 23,000 of them die for one day.

w04 4/1 29

Question Wey Some People Don Ask

Why 1 Corinthians 10:8 say 23,000 Israel people die for one day because they do sex wey e bad, but Numbers 25:9 talk say na 24,000 die?

Plenty reasons dey why the number for this two verses for Bible dey different. One simple reason fit be say na between 23,000 and 24,000 people die. So person fit just talk say na 23,000 or 24,000.

See another reason why the number dey different. Apostle Paul talk the story of Israel people for Shittim as example to warn the Christians for Corinth. People know Corinth as city wey their people de really do bad things. Paul write say: “Make we no de do sex wey e bad, just as some of them be do sex wey e bad, and 23,000 of them die for one day.” So the 23,000 people wey Paul talk say they die na the ones wey Jehovah kill by e self.—1 Corinthians 10:8.

But, Numbers chapter 25 tell us say “Israel people join to worship Baal of Peor, and Jehovah really vex for Israel people.” Then Jehovah command Moses to kill “all the leaders of this people.” Then Moses tell the Judges to do the thing wey Jehovah command. For the end, “the punishment stop” when Phinehas no waste time to kill one Israel man when e bring one Midian woman enter the camp. The story end with this words: “Na 24,000 people die from this punishment.”—Numbers 25:1-9.

“The leaders of the people” wey the judges kill and some of them wey Jehovah kill by e self, dey among the 24,000 people wey the book of Numbers talk about. The number of people wey the judges kill fit be like 1,000, na this one make the number reach 24,000. Whether this leaders do sex wey e bad or join for the festival of Baal or they allow make this people do this bad things, all of them “join to worship Baal of Peor.”

One research talk about the word “attachment” wey they use for the English Reference Bible say, e mean “to join yourself to another person.” Israel people na people wey they don promise to serve Jehovah, but when they “join to worship Baal of Peor, they spoil their friendship with God. After 700 years, Jehovah tell Israel people through prophet Hosea say: “They go meet Baal of Peor; and they give their life to this shameful god. They come be something wey God hate just like the thing wey they love.” (Hosea 9:10) All this people suppose get punishment from God. So, Moses tell Israel people say: “Wuna eyes see the thing wey Jehovah do about Baal of Peor; Jehovah wuna God kill everybody from among wuna wey they follow Baal of Peor.”—Deuteronomy 4:3.

(1 Corinthians 11:5, 6) but every woman wey e de pray or prophesy and no cover e head de shame e head, because na the same thing with woman wey e shave e head. 6 If woman no cover e hair, make e cut the hair; but if na shame for woman to cut e hair or shave e hair, then make e cover-am.

(1 Corinthians 11:10) This na why woman suppose get sign of authority for e head, because of the angels.

w15 2/15 30

Question Wey Some People Don Ask

If sister dey with brother for field service and e de conduct Bible study with person, the sister need to cover e head?

▪ For July 15, 2002 Watchtower for the part, “Question Wey Some People Don Ask,” they write say sister suppose cover e head if e dey with brother when e de conduct Bible study, even if the brother don baptize or e never baptize. When we really look this matter well, we see say we need to change the way we explain this topic.

If brother wey e don baptize follow sister as the sister de conduct Bible study, the sister go cover e head. Since na brothers de take the lead to teach, the sister go cover e head when e de teach to show respect for how Jehovah don arrange things for congregation, because e de do work wey brothers suppose do. (1 Cor. 11:5, 6, 10) Another thing wey the sister fit do, na to tell the brother to conduct the study if e qualify and if e fit conduct the study.

But, if brother wey e never baptize follow sister as the sister de conduct Bible study and the brother no be e husband, from wetin Bible talk, e no need to cover e head. Even with this one, the conscience of some sisters de make them cover their head.

“God Go Be ‘Everything to Everybody’”

(1 Corinthians 15:24, 25) Next, the end, when e don give the Kingdom to e God and Papa, when e don destroy all government and all authority and power. 25 Because e must rule as King until God don put all enemies under e feet.

w98 7/1 21 ¶10

“Death No Go Dey Again”

10 The word “the end” for this verse mean the end of the One Thousand Years wey Jesus Christ Go Rule. This one na the time wey Jesus go use all e heart give the Kingdom to e God and Papa. (Revelation 20:4) The thing wey God be arrange “to gather everything together for the Christ” go don happen. (Ephesians 1:9, 10) The first thing na say, Christ go don destroy “all government and all authority and power” wey them dey against the rule of God. This one even pass wetin go happen for Armageddon. (Revelation 16:16; 19:11-21) Paul talk say: “[Christ] must rule as King until God don put all enemies under e feet. And the last enemy, death, no go dey again.” (1 Corinthians 15:25, 26) Yes, every sin and death wey Adam don cause go don comot. The one wey e dey important pass na say God go don resurrect people wey them dey “inside grave.”—John 5:28.

(1 Corinthians 15:26) And the last enemy, death, no go dey again.

kr 237 ¶21

The Kingdom De Do the Thing Wey God Want for the Earth

21 Wetin go happen to death wey sickness and sin de cause? Bible call-am our “last enemy.” Death na one enemy wey everybody no fit fight. (1 Cor. 15:26) But e really hard for Jehovah to remove death? See wetin Bible talk: “E go swallow death forever, Jehovah the Lord wey e get the right to rule go wipe tears from the face of everybody.” (Isa. 25:8) You de see that time for your mind? Burial no go dey again, no burial ground again, tears no go de comot from our eyes again because person die! Instead, na the opposite go de happen. As Jehovah de bring dead people back to life, na so tears of joy go de comot for our eyes! (Read Isaiah 26:19.) That time, all the pain wey death don cause go end.

(1 Corinthians 15:27, 28) Because God “put everything under e feet.” But when e talk say ‘all things don dey under him,’ e clear say the Person wey e put them under him no dey among. 28 But when all things don dey under him, the Son too go put e self under the Person wey e put all things under him, so that God go be everything to everybody.

w12 9/15 12 ¶17

Peace Go Dey for One Thousand Years And E Go Even Pass!

17 No better way dey wey e pass this one to explain how the end of everything go be, say “God go be everything to everybody.” Wetin e mean? Think about that time for Eden when Adam and Eve still dey perfect, and still be part of the big family wey Jehovah get for heaven and earth. Peace dey for the family and everybody de do things as one. Jehovah, the God wey E Get the Right to Rule for Heaven and Earth be de rule all the things wey e don make—the angels and people. That time, them dey free to talk with and worship Jehovah, and e bless them. That time, Jehovah na “everything to everybody.”

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(1 Corinthians 14:34, 35) make the women dey silent for the congregations, because they no get permission to talk. But as the Law talk, make them dey under the men. 35 If they want learn something, make they ask their husbands for house, because na shame for woman to talk for congregation.

w12 9/1 9, box

Apostle Paul Talk Say Make Women No Talk At All?

Apostle Paul talk say “make the women dey silent for the congregations.” (1 Corinthians 14:34) Wetin e mean? E de talk say they no know anything? No. The truth na say, plenty times, e de even talk about the fine-fine things wey the women de teach. (2 Timothy 1:5; Titus 2:3-5) For the letter wey e send to the congregation for Corinth, Paul advice say when one person de talk, make other people dey silent. No be only women e give this advice, but na also to other people wey them get the gift to speak different language and talk the thing wey e go happen for future. (1 Corinthians 14:26-30, 33) E fit be say some women really like the new things wey them de learn and when person de talk, they go stop the person to ask questions. That time, na so people for that place de do. So Paul de advice them say make they “ask their husbands for house” so that they no go de stop person when e de talk.—1 Corinthians 14:35.

(1 Corinthians 15:53) Because this one wey e fit spoil must wear the one wey e no fit spoil, and this one wey e fit die must wear the one wey e no fit die.

it-1 1197-1198

The One Wey E No Fit Spoil

When they resurrect the people wey they go rule with Jesus for heaven, no be only life wey e no go end God go give them. They go still get life wey e no fit end and the one wey e no fit spoil, just like Jesus. When they be dey for earth, they serve Jehovah well reach the end, and they die with this our kind body wey e fit spoil. But as Paul talk-am for 1 Corinthians 15:42-54, now they go get the kind body wey e no fit spoil. When Bible talk about life wey e no fit end, e de talk about the kind life wey they go enjoy, na life wey nothing fit end-am and nothing fit destroy-am. But when e talk about life wey e no fit spoil, e de talk about the kind body wey God go give them, na the kind body wey e no fit spoil, e no fit rotten and nothing fit destroy-am. E mean say God give them power to get everything wey they need to continue to live. They no go need any person or anything to stay alive. They no be like other angels and people wey Jehovah make wey them need support to make them continue to live. This one really make-am clear say Jehovah trust them. But as God give them power to get everything wey they need to continue to live, that one no mean say e no fit control them again. Just like their Leader Jesus, they go still continue to put theirself under Jehovah their Papa and follow all the things wey e tell them.—1Co 15:23-28; check immortality; soul.

“Jehovah—‘The God Wey E De Give All Comfort’”

(2 Corinthians 1:3) Make wuna praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Na the Father wey e de treat person with care and de show pity, and na the God wey e de give all comfort.

w17.07 13 ¶4

‘Cry With People When Them De Cry’

4 Jehovah, our Father wey e de treat people with care and de show pity de feel pain when the people wey e love die, like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and King David. (Num. 12:6-8; Matt. 22:31, 32; Acts 13:22) Bible tell us say e really de wait for the time when e go bring all of them back to life. (Job 14:14, 15) They go dey happy and their body go strong. Remember too say the Son of God, the one wey e really like, suffer till e die. (Prov. 8:22, 30) The way Jesus suffer till e die really pain Jehovah.—John 5:20; 10:17.

(2 Corinthians 1:4) e de comfort us anytime wey we get problem, so that when people get any kind of problem, we fit comfort them with the help wey God don give us.

w17.07 15 ¶14

‘Cry With People When Them De Cry’

14 E dey clear say e fit hard for us to know wetin we go talk when person de cry because e person don die. Even so, Bible talk say “wetin they use sense talk de make person well.” (Prov. 12:18) This brochure When Someone You Love Dies don help plenty people to know wetin they fit talk. But many times, wetin we fit do to really help na to ‘cry with people when them de cry.’ (Rom. 12:15) Gaby wey e husband don die talk say, “Tears don be like the language wey e de touch my heart. When my friends de cry with me, e de calm my heart. E de make me know say them de feel my pain.”

Fine-Fine Things Wey You See for Bible

(2 Corinthians 1:22) E don still put e seal ontop us and e don give us something as agreement for the things wey them de come, this one na the spirit, wey e put for our heart.

w16.04 32

Question Wey Some People Don Ask

Wetin be the “agreement” and the “seal” wey God de give any anointed Christian?—2 Cor. 1:21, 22; ftn.

▪ Agreement: One research show say the Greek word wey them translate as “agreement” for 2 Corinthians 1:22 na “word wey them de use for business and law” and e mean “first payment, deposit, promise or small money wey person give to complete the rest later. That small money wey the person first pay na part of the complete money wey e go pay to buy something. E don pay that small money first, to protect that thing so that another person no go take-am, or as agreement for the business.” For anointed Christians, part of their full payment as 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 talk-am, na the body wey e no fit spoil and the life wey e no fit end wey God go give them.—1 Cor. 15:48-54.

For the Greek language wey them de talk for this our time, the word for engagement ring resemble this word wey them translate as “agreement.” This example really fit the anointed Christians because they go be like the wife of Christ.—2 Cor. 11:2; Rev. 21:2, 9.

▪ Seal: Before this our time, people de use seal when they want show say something na their own, them de use-am to show say something na original, and to show say they agree with something. For the anointed Christians, God don use e holy spirit “seal” them or mark them to show say they be e property. (Eph. 1:13, 14) This seal no dey permanent. Na when the anointed Christian dey faithful until e die, or just before the great tribulation start, e go dey permanent.—Eph. 4:30; Rev. 7:2-4.

(2 Corinthians 2:14-16) But we thank God, as e de always lead us to march together with Christ because we don win, and e de use us de spread the things wey we know about him like sweet smell for every place! 15 Because for God, we be sweet smell of Christ among the people wey they go get life and among the people wey they go destroy; 16 for the ones wey they go destroy, we be like smell of death wey e de lead to death, for the ones wey they go get life, we be like sweet smell of life wey e de lead to life. And who really qualify to do this things?

w10 8/1 23

You Know?

Wetin apostle Paul get for mind when e talk say we de “march together with Christ because we don win”?

▪ Paul talk say: “God . . . de always lead us to march together with Christ because we don win, and e de use us to spread the things wey we know about him like sweet smell for every place! Because for God, we be sweet smell of Christ among the people wey they go get life and among the people wey they go destroy; for the ones wey they go destroy, we be like smell of death wey e de lead to death, for the ones wey they go get life, we be like sweet smell of life wey e de lead to life.”—2 Corinthians 2:14-16.

Paul be de talk about the way people for Rome de do to honor any general for army when e don win the enemies of their country. They go take all the things wey they collect from the enemies and the people wey they don carry as prisoners and put them for place wey everybody go de see them. They go bring male cow for sacrifice, and everybody go de praise the general and e army. When they don march round finish, they go sacrifice the male cow and they fit even kill plenty of the prisoners.

The “sweet smell of Christ” wey e mean life for some people and death for others, as The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia talk, “fit be from the way people for Rome de burn incense as them de march round. That smell from the incense na sign for the Romans say they don win, but e de remind the prisoners say small time, they fit kill them.”
