UPawulos umele ukuba wavuya gqitha akwamkela isicelo esithi “yiza ngapha eMakedoni” nakukuba uYehova wakubona kufanelekile ukusebenzisa yena neqela lakhe ukuphendula imithandazo yabo bafazi boyika uThixo! “Abantu Bathukisa Benomsindo” (IZenzo 16:16-24)

10 Ngokuqinisekileyo uSathana waba lugcwabevu ukubona iindaba ezilungileyo zintshula kuloo ndawo ekusenokwenzeka ukuba yena needemon zakhe babengekaze baphazanyiswe. 11 Xa abanikazi besi sicakazana bafumanisa ukuba umthombo wabo wemali eza lula womile, baba nomsindo. Barhuqela uPawulos noSilas kwindawo yemarike, apho yayikhona inkundla yoomantyi​—amagosa awayemela iRoma. Basebenzisa ikhethe nokuthanda izwe kwezo jaji besithi: ‘La maYuda asiphazamisa ngokukhulu ngokuvakalisa amasiko angamkelekanga kuthi maRoma.’ Loo mazwi abo avakala ngokukhawuleza. “Abantu [emarikeni] bathukisa benomsindo [kuPawulos noSilas],” baza oomantyi banikela umyalelo wokuba “babethwe ngeentonga.” Emva koko, uPawulos noSilas barhuqelwa ejele. 12 Kwiminyaka ethile ngaphambili, uYesu wathi kubalandeli bakhe: “Baza kunitshutshisa.” (Yoh. 15:20) Ngoko ke, xa uPawulos neqela lakhe babewelela eMakedoni, babekulungele ukujamelana nentshutshiso. “Babhaptizwa Ngaphandle Kokulibazisa” (IZenzo 16:25-34)

13 UPawulos noSilas bamele ukuba babefuna ukufumana ixesha lokuphumla yaye balibale ngeziganeko zaloo mini. Kodwa, ezinzulwini zobusuku zazisele zidambile ezo ntlungu zokubethwa kangangokuba “babethandaza, bedumisa uThixo ngengoma.” Ngequbuliso kwabakho inyikima yaza yagungqisa ijele! Ngoko bamphendula bathi: “Kholwa kwiNkosi uYesu yaye uza kusindiswa.”​—IZe. 16:25-31.

Ngokomzekelo, ngasihlandlo sithile kwelinye ilizwe owawuvaliwe kulo umsebenzi wethu wokushumayela, ayi-40 phesenti kumaNgqina awayehlala apho ayefumene inyaniso ngoYehova ngoxa esejele! (Isa. 54:17) Phawula ukuba, lo nogada wacela uncedo kuphela emva kwenyikima. “Kutheni Ngoku Beza Kusizimelisa Xa Besikhupha?” (IZenzo 16:35-40)

16. Kusuku olusemva kokuba uPawulos noSilas bekatsiwe, isikhuni sabuya njani nomkhwezeli?

16 Kwintsasa elandelayo emva kokubakatsa, oomantyi bayalela ukuba uPawulos noSilas bakhululwe. Aba bafundi babini babathobela, kodwa baqala bachitha ixesha bekhuthaza elo qela lalikhula labafundi abatsha. Bemka kuphela emva kokuba bebakhuthazile.

17. Sisiphi isifundo esibalulekileyo esasiza kufundwa ngabafundi abatsha ababona indlela abanyamezela ngayo uPawulos noSilas?

17 Ukuba amalungelo abo ayehlonelwe njengabemi baseRoma, uPawulos noSilas ngebabengakatswanga. (IZe. 22:25, 26) Kodwa oko kwakuya kwenza abafundi baseFilipi bacinge ukuba ooPawulos basebenzise ilungelo labo ukuze bazikhusele ekubandezelekeni ngenxa kaKristu. Kusenokwenzeka ukuba oko kwabenza bakuphepha ukuphatha kakubi abazalwana bakaPawulos kwaza kwabakhusela ngandlel’ ithile ngokusemthethweni ukuze bangaphathwa kakubi.

18 Nanamhlanje, abaveleli bebandla lamaKristu bakhokela ngokumisela umzekelo omhle. Enoba yintoni abalindele ukuba yenziwe ngabazalwana babo, abalusi abangamaKristu bayayenza. Ukongezelela koko, njengoPawulos, baqala bacingisise nzulu ngendlela nexesha abamele bawasebenzise ngayo amalungelo okusikhusela asemthethweni. Xa kuyimfuneko, sibhenela kwiinkundla zasekuhlaleni, ezelizwe, nkqu nezamazwe ngamazwe xa sifuna ukukhuselwa ngokusemthethweni ukuze sityhalele phambili nonqulo lwethu. ULUKA—UMBHALI WENCWADI YEZENZO

(2 Tim. 4:6, 11) Kuyacaca ukuba uLuka wahamba imigama emide ibe wayekulungele ukuva ubunzima ngenxa yeendaba ezilungileyo.

ULuka akazange athi wayezibonele ngokwakhe oko wakubhala ngoYesu. Ngokwahlukileyo koko, wathi ‘ubhala ngezinto anobungqina bokuba zenzeka’ ngokusekelwe kwingxelo ‘yabanye abazibonelayo.’ Ukongezelela koko, ‘waziphandisisa izinto ukususela ekuqaleni, wazibhala ngokulandelelana kwazo.’ (Luka 1:1-3) Umsebenzi kaLuka ubonisa kakuhle ukuba wayesenza uphando olucokisekileyo. Kusenokwenzeka ukuba ingxelo awabhala ngayo wayifumana ngokwenza udliwan’ ondlebe noElizabhete, nonina kaYesu uMariya, kunye nabanye. Zininzi izinto abhale ngazo ezingafumanekiyo kwezinye iincwadi zeVangeli.​—Luka 1:5-80.

UPawulos wathi uLuka wayengugqirha, ibe umdla walo gqirha kwabo bagulayo ubonakala kwizinto awazibhalayo. Ukukhankanya nje imizekelo embalwa: ULuka usichazela ukuba xa uYesu waphilisa umntu owayenedemon, “yaphuma kuye ingamenzakalisanga”; ukuba umkhwekazi kampostile uPetros wayephethwe “yifiva ngamandla”; kwanokuba umfazi owancedwa nguYesu ‘wayenedemon eyamgulisa iminyaka eyi-18; wayegobile, engakwazi tu ukuma nkqo.’​—Luka 4:35, 38; 13:11.

Kuyacaca ukuba ‘umsebenzi weNkosi’ wawuyeyona nto iphambili ebomini bukaLuka. (1 Kor. 15:58) Eyona njongo yakhe yayingekokufumana umsebenzi wempangelo ohlawula kakuhle noza kumenzela igama njengogqirha, kodwa yayikukunceda abanye bamazi uYehova baze bamkhonze.

ULIDIYA OWAYETHENGISA AMALAPHU APEPULI

ULidiya wayehlala eFilipi, isixeko esidumileyo saseMakedoni. Wayesuka eTiyatira, isixeko esasikummandla ekuthiwa yiLidiya kwintshona yeAsia Minor. Ukuze arhwebe ngokuthengisa izinto ezipepuli, uLidiya wafudukela ngaphesheya koLwandle lweAegean. Kusenokwenzeka ukuba wayerhweba ngezinto ezipepuli ezahlukahlukeneyo​—iikhaphethi, amalaphu ahonjisiweyo axhonywa eludongeni, amalaphu aqhelekileyo kunye nedayi. Umbhalo owafunyanwa eFilipi ungqina ukuba babekho abathengisi bezimfusa kweso sixeko.

ULidiya ubonisa abantu ilaphu.

ULidiya uchazwa ‘njengowayekhonza uThixo,’ nto leyo ithetha ukuba wayengumngeni ebuYudeni. (IZe. 16:14) Usenokuba wayeqhelene nabanquli bakaYehova kwisixeko sakowabo. Ngokwahlukileyo kwiFilipi, sona sasinayo indawo yokunqula yamaYuda. Bambi bakholelwa ukuba igama uLidiya yayisisiteketiso esithetha “Ibhinqa laseLidiya”​—awalifumana ngoxa wayeseFilipi. Noko ke, kukho ubungqina obubhaliweyo bokuba abantu babethiywa ngeli gama.

Abantu baseLidiya nabamelwane babo babedume ngobuchule babo bokudaya ngombala omfusa ukususela kwimihla kaHomer, ngenkulungwane yesithoba okanye yesibhozo ngaphambi kweXesha Eliqhelekileyo. Enyanisweni, amanzi aseTiyatira ayesaziwa ngokuvelisa “eyona mibala iqaqambileyo nehlala ixesha elide.”

Impahla emfusa yayikudidi oluphezulu, ifunyanwa zizinhanha kuphela. Nakuba zazininzi iindawo efumaneka kuzo idayi emfusa, eyona iphambili neyayibiza kakhulu, yayisetyenziswa kwilaphu elicikizekileyo yaye yayifumaneka kwiishellfish zeMeditera. Kwishellfish nganye kwakufumaneka ithontsi elinye ledayi, ibe kwakusetyenziswa iishellfish ezisenokuba ziyi-8 000 ukuze kufunyanwe ikhilogram enye yobu buncwane; yiloo nto ke lalibiza kangaka ilaphu elinale dayi.

Ekubeni eli shishini likaLidiya lalifuna umntu abe nemali eninzi ukuze aliqhube ngoxa wayenendlu enkulu ukuze amkele amadoda amane​—uPawulos, uSilas, uTimoti noLuka—​umele ukuba wayemi kakuhle gqitha. Ibinzana elithi “nendlu yakhe” lisenokuthetha ukuba wayehlala nezalamane zakhe, yaye lisenokubhekisela kumakhoboka nezicaka zakhe. (IZe. 16:15) Isibakala sokuba uPawulos noSilas badibana nabazalwana abathile kweli khaya lale mvuzemvuze ngaphambi kokuba bamke kweso sixeko, sibonisa ukuba laliyindawo yokuhlanganisana yamaKristu okuqala eFilipi.​—IZe. 16:40.

Xa uPawulos wayebhalela ibandla laseFilipi kwiminyaka elishumi kamva, akazange amkhankanye uLidiya. Ngoko ke, ekuphela kweenkcukacha esinazo ngoLidiya zezo zikwiZenzo isahluko 16.
