Ngaba uZekariya, uyise kaYohane uMbhaptizi, wenziwa isithulu nesimumu, ngokwendlela uLuka 1:62 avakala echaza ngayo?
Bambi baye bagqiba kwelokuba uZekariya waba siso nesithulu. Kwingxelo yeBhayibhile sifunda oku: “Baye bemthiya [umntwana] igama likayise, besithi nguZekariya; koko waphendulayo unina, wathi, Hayi; uya kubizwa ngokuba nguYohane. Bathi kuye, Akukho namnye ubizwa ngelo gama kwimizalwane yakho. Baye ke benqwala kuyise besithi, angathanda ukuba athiweni na ukubizwa. Wabiza icwecwana, wabhala esithi, Igama lakhe nguYohane.”—Luka 1:59-63.
Noko ke, kule ngxelo, akukho nto ngokuthe ngqo ethi uZekariya wakhe akeva okwethuba elithile.
Ngaphambilana isithunywa uGabriyeli saxelela uZekariya ngokuzalwa konyana owayeza kubizwa ngokuba nguYohane. UZekariya owayesele ekhulile wakufumanisa kunzima ukukukholelwa oko. Isithunywa saphendula: “Uyabona, uya kuba sisidenge, ungabi nako ukuthetha, kude kube yimini eziya kuthi zenzeke ngayo ezi zinto, ngenxa enokuba ungakholwanga ngamazwi am; aya kuzalisekiswa wona ngexesha lawo.” (Luka 1:13, 18-20) Isithunywa sathi yayikukuthetha kukaZekariya, okwakuya kuchaphazeleka, ingekuko ukuva.
Ingxelo ihambisa isithi: “Uthe ke akuphuma [endaweni engcwele], akaba nako ukuthetha kubo [abantu ababelindile]; baqonda ukuba ubone umbono endaweni engcwele apho, waye yena emana ukunqwala kubo, wahlala engathethi [“esisimumu,” NW].” (Luka 1:22) Igama lesiGrike apha eliguqulelwe ngokuthi “isimumu” lidlulisela ingcamango yokuba buthuntu ekuthetheni, ekuveni, okanye kokubini. (Luka 7:22) Kuthekani ngoZekariya? Kaloku, khawuqwalasele okwenzekayo xa waphiliswayo. “Wavuleka ke kwaoko umlomo wakhe, lwathukululeka nolwimi lwakhe, wamana ethetha, ebonga uThixo.” (Luka 1:64) Oko ngokusengqiqweni kukhokelela kwingcamango yokuba kuphela yayikukuthetha kukaZekariya okonakaliswayo.
Kwakutheni ke ngoko ukuze abanye ‘banqwale kuZekariya besithi, angathanda ukuba athiweni na ukubizwa [umntwana]’? Bambi abaguquleli bade bakuguqulele oku ngokuthi “ngolwimi lwemiqondiso” okanye “ukusebenzisa ulwimi lwemiqondiso.”
UZekariya, owaba sisimumu ukususela oko isithunywa sezulu sasithethe naye, ngokufuthi wayenyanzeleka ukuba asebenzise izimbo zomzimba, uhlobo oluthile lolwimi lwemiqondiso, xa ethetha. Ngokomzekelo, waye “emana ukunqwala” kwabo babesetempileni. (Luka 1:21, 22) Xa kamva wabiza icwecwana, umele ukuba wasebenzisa imiqondiso okanye izimbo zomzimba. (Luka 1:63) Ngoko ke, kunokwenzeka ukuba abo babekunye naye ngethuba lokuba sisimumu kwakhe babetyekele ekusebenziseni izimbo zomzimba.

UElizabhete wayesele elitshilo igama lonyana wakhe. ‘Ngoko ke, bengamphikisi, kusenokwenzeka ukuba bathabatha inyathelo elilandelayo nelifanelekileyo lokuva isigqibo sendoda yakhe. Babesenokukwenza oko ngokunqwala nje okanye ngesimbo somzimba. Isibakala sokuba bengazange bawubhale umbuzo wabo ukuze uZekariya awufunde sisenokuba bubungqina bokuba waweva amazwi omkakhe. Ngaloo ndlela, ukunqwala nje okanye umqondiso onjalo wawusenokuthetha ukuthi, Ngoko ke, sonke (kuquka nawe Zekariya) simvile ukuba uthini, kodwa ugqiba kwelithini wena ngegama lomntwana?’
Ibe ngephanyazo emva koko kwenzeka omnye ummangaliso, olungisa le meko. “Wavuleka ke kwaoko umlomo wakhe, lwathukululeka nolwimi lwakhe, wamana ethetha.” (Luka 1:64) Akuzange kubekho mfuneko yokukhankanya ukuva kwakhe ukuba kwakungazange kuchaphazeleke.
