17 Khawube nalo mfanekiso-ngqondweni. Abazalwana, kuquka uLuka, babongoza uPawulos ukuba angayi eYerusalem. Abanye bayalila. 18 Basabela njani abazalwana? Ngelizwi elinye singathi, ngentlonelo. Sifunda oku: “Akunganqandeki, sayekelela sathi: ‘Makwenzeke ukuthanda kukaYehova.’” (IZe. 21:14) Abo babezama ukweyisela uPawulos ukuba angayi eYerusalem abazange babambelele kwiingcamango zabo. 10 Sekunjalo, uPawulos wabonisa ukuqonda kwabo babevakalelwa kukuba bamele bagcine amasiko amaYuda, njengokuhlala bangasebenzi ngeSabatha okanye bangatyi izinto ezithile. Hlalani niqinisekile ukuba, ndilungele kungekuphela nje ukubotshwa, kodwa kwanokufa eYerusalem ngenxa yegama leNkosi uYesu.” 14 Akunganqandeki, sayekelela sathi: “Makwenzeke ukuthanda kukaYehova.” 15 Ke kaloku emva kwezi ntsuku salungiselela uhambo saza sanyuka saya eYerusalem. 16 Kodwa kwanabathile kubafundi abavela eKesareya bahamba nathi, ukuze basise kuloo mntu sasiza kundwendwela ekhayeni lakhe, uMnason othile waseSipro, omnye wabafundi bangaphambili. 17 Sakufika eYerusalem, abazalwana basamkela ngochulumanco. 18 Kodwa ngemini elandelayo uPawulos wangena nathi kuYakobi; yaye ayekho onke amadoda amakhulu. 19 Wababulisa waza wanikela ngokweenkcukacha ingxelo yezinto uThixo azenzileyo phakathi kweentlanga ngobulungiseleli bakhe.

“Watyholwa Kwathiwa Ubangela Iingxaki”
(IZenzo 23:12) Ke kaloku kwathi kwakuba semini, amaYuda ayila iyelenqe aza azibopha ngesiqalekiso, esithi akayi kudla, akayi kusela ade ambulale uPawulos.
(IZenzo 23:16) Noko ke, unyana wodade boPawulos weva ngokulalela kwabo, yaye weza waza wangena kwindawo yokuhlala amajoni, wakuxela oku kuPawulos.
“Yomelela Kakhulu!”
5 Olo khuthazo lwafika ngexesha elifanelekileyo. Kusuku olulandelayo, amaYuda angaphezu kwama-40 “ayila iyelenqe aza azibopha ngesiqalekiso, esithi akayi kudla, akayi kusela ade ambulale uPawulos.” “Eli yelenqe lifungelweyo” lalibonisa indlela awayezimisele ngayo loo maYuda ukubulala lo mpostile. Ayekholelwa ukuba xa liwe phantsi elo yelenqe lawo, oko kwakuya kuthetha isiqalekiso kuwo. 6 Kwathi kanti umtshana kaPawulos uvile ngelo yelenqe waza waxelela uPawulos ngalo. UPawulos waba sele eyalela loo mfana ukuba aye kuxelela umphathi-mkhosi waseRoma, uKlawudiyo Lisiya, ngeli yelenqe. (IZe. 23:16-22) UYehova uyabathanda abaselula, abathi njengalo mtshana kaPawulos ungachazwa ngegama, babe nesibindi sokuzincama besindisa abantu bakaThixo yaye ngokuthembeka benze konke okusemandleni abo ukuze bahambisele phambili izilangazelelo zoBukumkani.
(IZenzo 24:2) Xa wabizwayo, uTertulo wammangalela, esithi: “Njengokuba sinandipha uxolo olukhulu yaye kusenzeka iinguqulelo kolu hlanga ngenxa yakho,
(IZenzo 24:5, 6) Kuba sifumene le ndoda ingumfo olizothe, ixhokonxa iziphendu phakathi kwawo onke amaYuda kuwo wonke umhlaba omiweyo yaye iyinkokeli eyintloko yehlelo lamaNazarete, 6 kwaye yalinga nokuhlambela itempile saza sayibamba.

10 EKesareya, uPawulos ‘wagcinwa ngumlindi kwibhotwe lakomkhulu likaHerode,’ ukuze alindele abamangaleli bakhe abavela eYerusalem. (IZe. 23:35) Bafika emva kweentsuku ezintlanu—uMbingeleli Omkhulu uAnaniyas, isithethi sasesidlangalaleni uTertulo, neqela lamadoda amakhulu. UTertulo waqala ngokumqhwabel’ izandla uFeliks ngezinto awayezenzele amaYuda, phofu kucaca ukuba wayezithandisa ezama ukuthambisa intliziyo yakhe. Emva koko, uTertulo wabhekisela kuPawulos ngokuthi ‘ngumfo olizothe, oxhokonxa iziphendu phakathi kwawo onke amaYuda kuwo wonke umhlaba omiweyo yaye uyinkokeli eyintloko yehlelo lamaNazarete, kwaye walinga nokuhlambela itempile baza bambamba.’ Namanye amaYuda ‘athelela kolo hlaselo, emi ngelithi ezo zinto zinjalo.’ (IZe. 24:5, 6, 9) Ukuxhokonxa iziphendu, ukuba yinkokeli yehlelo, nokuhlambela itempile—ezo yayizizityholo ezinzulu ezazinokuphumela kwisigwebo sokufa.
(IZenzo 24:10-21) Ke kaloku waphendula uPawulos, yakunqwala kuye irhuluneli ukuba athethe, wathi: “Ndazi kakuhle ukuba olu hlanga belunawe njengomgwebi kangangeminyaka emininzi, yaye ke ngoko ndikulungele ukuzithethelela ngezinto ezingam, 11 njengoko ukwimeko yokufumanisa ukuba akuntsuku zingaphezu kweshumi elinesibini ukususela ekubeni ndenyukayo ndaya kunqula eYerusalem; 12 yaye abandifumananga tempileni ndixoxisana naye nabani na okanye ndibangela ihlokondiba ukuba ligxalathelane ndawonye, nokuba kukwizindlu zesikhungu okanye kuso sonke isixeko. 13 Bengenako nokuzingqina kuwe izinto abandimangalela ngazo kanye ngoku. 14 Kodwa ndiyakuvuma oku kuwe, ukuba ndinikela inkonzo engcwele kuThixo wookhokho bakowethu ngokulandela indlela abayibiza ngokuba ‘lihlelo,’ njengoko ndizikholelwa zonke izinto ezibekwe eMthethweni nezibhalwe kubaProfeti; 15 yaye ndinethemba kuThixo, themba elo abanalo naba bantu ngokwabo, lokuba kuza kubakho uvuko lwamalungisa nabangengomalungisa. 16 Kule nkalo, eneneni, ndiyaziqhelisa ngokuqhubekayo ukuba ndikuphaphele ukungamoni uThixo nabantu. 17 Ngoko emva kweminyaka eliqela noko ndafika ndizise izipho zenceba kuhlanga lwakowethu, neminikelo. 18 Kanye ngelo thuba bandifumana ndihlambulukile ngokusesikweni etempileni, kungekho sihlwele okanye uqhushululu. Kodwa kwakukho amaYuda athile avela kwisithili saseAsiya, 19 abefanelwe kukubakho apha phambi kwakho nokundimangalela ukuba ebenayo nantoni na nxamnye nam. 20 Okanye, aba bantu balapha mabatsho ngokwabo ukuba bububi buni na ababufumanayo njengoko ndandimi phambi kweSanhedrin, 21 ngaphandle kwangokuphathelele eli lizwi linye ndadanduluka ngalo ndimi phakathi kwabo lokuthi, ‘Ngenxa yovuko lwabafileyo ndiyagwetywa namhlanje phambi kwenu!’”
“Yomelela Kakhulu!”
13 UPawulos wasimisela umzekelo omhle esimele siwuxelise nanini na sisisiwa phambi kwabasemagunyeni ngenxa yonqulo lwethu ngoxa sityholwa ngokuvusa iziphendu, uqhushululu okanye kusithiwa singamalungu “ehlelo eliyingozi.” UPawulos akazange alalanise ezama ukuzithandisa kuloo rhuluneli, njengoTertulo. Wahlala ezolile yaye enentlonelo. Ekhetha amazwi ngobuchule, wanikela ubungqina obucacileyo nobuyinyaniso. Wakhankanya into yokuba “amaYuda athile avela kwisithili saseAsiya” awayemtyhole ngokuhlambela itempile ayengekho apho enkundleni, yaye ayemele abekho ukuze azivele ukuba amtyhola ngelithini.—IZe. 24:18, 19.
14 Eyona nto ibalasele ngamandla kukuba, uPawulos akazange agungqe ekunikeleni ubungqina ngeenkolelo zakhe. Ngesibindi, lo mpostile waphinda wakhankanya ukholo analo ngovuko lwabafileyo, umbandela kanye owawuvuse loo ngxushungxushu xa wayephambi kweSanhedrin. (IZe. 23:6-10) Ekuzithetheleleni kwakhe, wagxininisa kwithemba analo lovuko. Kwakutheni ukuze enjenjalo? Kungenxa yokuba wayenikela ubungqina ngoYesu nangokuvuswa kwakhe ekufeni—nto leyo babengafuni nokuva ngayo abo babesilwa naye. (IZe. 26:6-8, 22, 23) Ewe, eyona mbambano yaloo mbhodamo yayiluvuko lwabafileyo, ingakumbi ukukholelwa kuYesu nasekuvusweni kwakhe.

(IZenzo 23:6) Ke kaloku xa uPawulos waphawula ukuba enye inxalenye yayiyeyabaSadusi kodwa enye iyeyabaFarisi, wadanduluka kwiSanhedrin esithi: “Madoda, bazalwana, ndingumFarisi, unyana womFarisi. Ngenxa yethemba lovuko lwabafileyo ndiyagwetywa.”

Kodwa kule imeko, ethetha ngolu hlobo nje uPawulos kukuba, wayezifanisa nabaFarisi kunabaSadusi kuba wayenethemba lovuko njengabaFarisi. Ngokwenza njalo, wayesiza nento awayenokuvumelana ngayo nabaFarisi ababekho. Kubonakala ukuba wayethembe ukuba xa evusa le ngxwabangxwaba wayeza kubangela ukuba amanye amalungu eSanhedrin avumelane naye, ibe elo qhinga lasebenza. (IZenzo 24:24) Imihla ethile kamva wafika uFeliks kunye noDrusila umfazi wakhe, owayengumYudakazi, yaye wathumelela ukuba eze uPawulos waza wamphulaphula ngokukholwa kuKristu Yesu.
(IZenzo 24:27) Kodwa, kwakudlula iminyaka emibini, uFeliks walandelwa nguPorkiyo Festo; yaye ngenxa yokuba uFeliks wayefuna ukukholeka kumaYuda, wamshiya uPawulos ebotshiwe.

Kuba kubhaliwe kwathiwa, ‘Uze ungathethi kakubi ngomlawuli wabantu bakowenu.’” 6 Ke kaloku xa uPawulos waphawula ukuba enye inxalenye yayiyeyabaSadusi kodwa enye iyeyabaFarisi, wadanduluka kwiSanhedrin esithi: “Madoda, bazalwana, ndingumFarisi, unyana womFarisi. 6 Ukunqwenela kukaFesto ukukholisa amaYuda kwakunokumbulalisa uPawulos. Ngoko ke, uPawulos wasebenzisa ilungelo lakhe njengommi waseRoma. Wathi kuFesto: “Ndimi phambi kwesihlalo sokugweba sikaKesare, apho ndifanele ukugwetywa khona. Andenzanga bubi kumaYuda, njengoko nawe ukwazi kakuhle oko. . . . Ndibhenela kuKesare!” Wayedla ngokuthi umntu akwenza eso sibheno singabi nakujikwa. Ngoko ke ndiyakubongoza ukuba undive ngomonde.

10 Ngentlonipho uPawulos wambulela uKumkani uAgripa ngokumnika ithuba lokuzithethelela, evuma ukuba loo kumkani wayeyingcali kuwo onke amasiko neembambano zamaYuda. Emva koko uPawulos wachaza ngobomi bakhe bangaphambili esithi: “Ndandikwelona hlelo lingqongqo lonqulo lwabaFarisi.” (IZe. 26:5) NjengomFarisi, uPawulos wayenethemba lokuza kukaMesiya. Ngoku njengomKristu, wabonisa ngenkalipho ukuba uYesu Kristu wayengulowo kudala elindelwe. Inkolelo ababenayo bonke yena nabo babemmangalela—leyo yethemba lokuzaliseka kwedinga elenziwa nguThixo kookhokho babo—yayiyiyo kanye le wayemangalelwa ngayo uPawulos ngaloo mini. Sithe sakuwa sonke emhlabeni ndeva ilizwi lisithi kum ngolwimi lwesiHebhere, ‘Sawule, Sawule, unditshutshiselani na? Wenzakala ukhaba iimviko nje.’ Ndathi ke mna, ‘Ungubani na, Nkosi?’ Yathi iNkosi, ‘NdinguYesu, lo umtshutshisayo.’”—IZe. 26:12-15.
13 Ngaphambi kwaloo mbono, ngokufuziselayo uPawulos ‘wayekhaba iimviko.’ Kanye njengokuba iqegu beliya kuzenzakalisa ngokungeyomfuneko xa likhaba iimviko, naye uPawulos wayezenzakalisa ngokomoya ngokuxhathisa kwakhe ukuthanda kukaThixo. Ngokuzibonakalisa kwakhe kuPawulos endleleni eya eDamasko, uYesu ovusiweyo wayinceda yatshintsha le ndoda inyanisekileyo neyayilahlekisiwe.—Yoh. 16:1, 2.
14 UPawulos wenza iinguqu ezibonakalayo kubomi bakhe. Ethetha noAgripa wathi: “Andibanga ngongawuthobeliyo umbono wasezulwini, kodwa kokubini kwabo baseDamasko kuqala nakwabo baseYerusalem, nakulo lonke ilizwe lakwaYuda, nakuzo iintlanga ndasa isigidimi sokuba bafanele baguquke baze baphethukele kuThixo ngokwenza imisebenzi efanele inguquko.” (IZe. 26:19, 20) Sekuqengqeleke iminyaka uPawulos ephumeza uthumo awalufumana kuYesu Kristu kuloo mbono wasemini emaqanda. Yaba yintoni imiphumo? Abo bazamkelayo iindaba ezilungileyo ezazishunyayelwa nguPawulos baguquka ekuziphatheni okubi, ukunganyaniseki baza baphethukela kuThixo. Batsho bangabemi abalungileyo, baba negalelo elihle, yaye bathobela umthetho nocwangco.
15 Noko ke, ezo ngenelo zazingathethi nto kwaphela kuloo maYuda ayeziintshaba zikaPawulos. UPawulos wathi: “Ngenxa yezi zinto amaYuda andibamba etempileni aza alinga ukundibulala. Noko ke, ngenxa yokuba ndizuze uncedo oluvela kuThixo ndiyaqhubeka ukusa kule mini ndinikela ubungqina kwabancinane nabakhulu.”—IZe. 26:21, 22.
16 NjengamaKristu okwenyaniso, simele ‘sisoloko sikulungele ukuthethelela’ ukholo lwethu. (1 Pet. 3:15) Xa sithetha neejaji nabalawuli ngeenkolelo zethu, sisenokukufumanisa kuluncedo ukuxelisa le ndlela yasetyenziswa nguPawulos xa wayethetha noAgripa noFesto. 18 UPawulos wayiphendula le rhuluneli wathi: “Andiphambani, Festo Obalaseleyo, kodwa ndithetha amazwi enyaniso nawengqondo ephilileyo. Ngenene, ukumkani endithetha kuye ngenkululeko yokuthetha wazi kakuhle ngezi zinto . . . Uyakholelwa na, Kumkani Agripa, kubaProfeti? Ndiyazi ukuba uyakholelwa.” UAgripa waphendula wathi: “Ngexesha elifutshane ubuya kundeyisela ekubeni ndibe ngumKristu.” (IZe. 26:25-28) Enoba wayenyanisekile kusini na xa esitsho, kuyabonakala ukuba obu bungqina bukaPawulos bamchukumisa lo kumkani.

14 UPawulos wayesazi ukuba uAgripa wayengumYuda nje ngegama. Esebenzisa ulwazi awayenalo uAgripa ngobuYuda, uPawulos wathi xa wayeshumayela akazange athethe ‘nto ngaphandle kwezinto abazixelayo abaProfeti kwakunye noMoses ukuba zaziza kwenzeka’ ezaziphathelele ukufa kukaMesiya nokuvuka kwakhe. Ngobulumko uPawulos wawuphendula ngokwakhe lo mbuzo, ngokuthi: “Ndiyazi ukuba uyakholelwa.” Wathini uAgripa? Wathi: “Ngexesha elifutshane ubuya kundeyisela ekubeni ndibe ngumKristu.” (IZenzo 26:27, 28) Nangona uAgripa engazange abe ngumKristu, ngokuqinisekileyo uPawulos wamfikelela intliziyo.—Hebhere 4:12.

Andenzanga bubi kumaYuda, njengoko nawe ukwazi kakuhle oko. 11 Ukuba ngokwenene ndingumenzi-bubi yaye ndenze nantoni na efanele ukufa, andizilanduleli ekufeni; kodwa ukuba akukho nanye yezo zinto bandimangalela ngazo aba bantu, akukho mntu unokundinikela kubo njengesibabalo. “Akukho Mphefumlo Wenu Uya Kulahleka”
15 UPawulos umele ukuba wanikela ubungqina kubantu abaninzi ababekhwele apho ‘ngethemba lesithembiso esenziwa nguThixo.’ (IZe. 26:6; Kol. 1:5) Ekubeni ngoku babekule ngxaki yokwaphukelwa yinqanawa, laliza kuvakala ngakumbi eli themba linikelwa nguPawulos. Wathi: “Ngobu busuku bekumi kufuphi nam ingelosi . . . , isithi, ‘Musa ukoyika, Pawulos. Noko ke, simele siphoseke elunxwemeni kwisiqithi esithile.”—IZe. 27:23-26.
(IZenzo 28:1, 2) Sakuba sisindile, saqonda ukuba eso siqithi sasibizwa ngokuba yiMalta. 2 Kwaye abantu abantetho yasemzini basibonisa ubuntu obungaqhelekanga, baphemba umlilo baza basamkela sonke kuba imvula yayisina yaye kubanda.

18 Kwathi kanti loo ndawo sisiqithi saseMalta, kumazantsi eSisili. (Funda ibhokisi enomxholo othi, “Iphi IMalta?”.) Abantu abathetha ulwimi lwasemzini beso siqithi bababonisa “ubuntu obungaqhelekanga.” (IZe. 28:2) Bababasela umlilo wokotha abo bantu basemzini nabafika kunxweme lwabo bemanzi tixi yaye beqhaqhazela yingqele. 21 Apho kwakuhlala isinhanha esinemihlaba ekuthiwa nguPubliyo. Kusenokwenzeka ukuba wayeligosa laseRoma eliphambili apho eMalta. ULuka umchaza ‘njengendoda eyintloko yesiqithi,’ esebenzisa kanye isibizo esifumaneka kwimibhalo emibini yolwimi lwaseMalta. Ngobubele wamkela uPawulos noogxa bakhe kangangeentsuku ezintathu. Noko ke, uyise wayegula. Kwakhona uLuka uyichaza ngokuchanileyo ngokweenkcukacha imeko yakhe. Wabhala echaza ukuba uyise kaPubliyo “wayelele phantsi ebandezelekile ngumkhuhlane nasisisu segazi,” echaza ngokuthe ngqo eyona nto wayegula yiyo. UPawulos wathandaza,wambek’ izandla, waza wamphilisa. Bechukumisekile ngulo mmangaliso, abantu balapho bazisa abantu babo abagulayo ukuze baphiliswe, yaye beza nezipho ukuze banyamekele iintswelo zikaPawulos nabazalwana bakhe.—IZe. 28:7-10.

‘Ukunikela Ubungqina Obucokisekileyo’
10 Xa elo qela labahambi lade lafika eRoma, “uPawulos wavunyelwa ukuba azihlalele yedwa nejoni elimlindileyo.” (IZe. 28:16) Ukuze ibanjwa lingabaleki, lalidla ngokudityaniswa ngetyathanga nomlindi walo. Sekunjalo, uPawulos, owayengumvakalisi woBukumkani, wayengenakuthuliswa lelo tyathanga, angashumayeli.
