A Revelation to John

12 Καὶ And ἐπέστρεψα I turned upon βλέπειν to be looking at τὴν the φωνὴν voice ἥτις which ἐλάλει was speaking μετ’ with ἐμοῦ· me; καὶ and ἐπιστρέψας having turned upon εἶδον I saw ἑπτὰ seven λυχνίας lampstands χρυσᾶς, golden, 13 καὶ and ἐν in μέσῳ midst τῶν of the λυχνιῶν lampstands ὅμοιον (one) like υἱὸν son ἀνθρώπου, of man, ἐνδεδυμένον having been clothed ποδήρη [garment] reaching the foot καὶ and περιεζωσμένον having been girded about πρὸς toward τοῖς the μαστοῖς breasts ζώνην girdle χρυσᾶν· golden; 14 ἡ the δὲ but κεφαλὴ head αὐτοῦ of him καὶ and αἱ the τρίχες hairs λευκαὶ white ὡς as ἔριον wool λευκόν, white, ὡς as χιών, snow, καὶ and οἱ the ὀφθαλμοὶ eyes αὐτοῦ of him ὡς as φλὸξ flame πυρός, of fire, 15 καὶ and οἱ the πόδες feet αὐτοῦ of him ὅμοιοι like χαλκολιβάνῳ, to fine copper, ὡς as ἐν in καμίνῳ furnace πεπυρωμένης, of (one) having been fired, καὶ and ἡ the φωνὴ voice αὐτοῦ of him ὡς as φωνὴ voice ὑδάτων of waters πολλῶν, many, 16 καὶ and ἔχων [he] having ἐν in τῇ the δεξιᾷ right χειρὶ hand αὐτοῦ of him ἀστέρας stars ἑπτά, seven, καὶ and ἐκ out of τοῦ the στόματος mouth αὐτοῦ of him ῥομφαία long sword δίστομος two-mouthed ὀξεῖα sharp ἐκπορευομένη, going out, καὶ and ἡ the ὄψις countenance αὐτοῦ of him ὡς as ὁ the ἥλιος sun φαίνει is shining ἐν in τῇ the δυνάμει power αὐτοῦ. of it. 17 Καὶ And ὅτε when εἶδον I saw αὐτόν, him, ἔπεσα I fell πρὸς toward τοὺς the πόδας feet αὐτοῦ of him ὡς as νεκρός· dead (one);

5 μνημόνευε Be you keeping in mind οὖν therefore πόθεν from where πέπτωκες, you have fallen, καὶ and μετανόησον repent καὶ and τὰ the πρῶτα first ἔργα works ποίησον· do; εἰ if δὲ but μή, not, ἔρχομαί I am coming σοι, to you, καὶ and κινήσω I shall move τὴν the λυχνίαν lampstand σου of you ἐκ out of τοῦ the τόπου place αὐτῆς, of it, ἐὰν if ever μὴ not μετανοήσῃς. you should repent. 6 ἀλλὰ But τοῦτο this ἔχεις you are having ὅτι that μισεῖς you are hating τὰ the ἔργα works τῶν of the Νικολαϊτῶν, Nicolaitans, ἃ which [works] κἀγὼ also I μισῶ. I am hating. 7 Ὁ The (one) ἔχων having οὖς ear ἀκουσάτω let him hear τί what τὸ the πνεῦμα spirit λέγει is saying ταῖς to the ἐκκλησίαις. ecclesias. Τῷ To the (one) νικῶντι conquering δώσω I shall give αὐτῷ to him φαγεῖν to eat ἐκ out of τοῦ the ξύλου wood τῆς of the ζωῆς, life, ὅ which ἐστιν is ἐν in τῷ the παραδείσῳ paradise τοῦ of the θεοῦ. 6 Καὶ And εἶδον I saw ἐν in μέσῳ midst τοῦ of the θρόνου throne καὶ and τῶν of the τεσσάρων four ζῴων living [creatures] καὶ and ἐν in μέσῳ middle τῶν of the πρεσβυτέρων older persons ἀρνίον lamb ἑστηκὸς having stood ὡς as ἐσφαγμένον, having been slaughtered, ἔχων having κέρατα horns ἑπτὰ seven καὶ and ὀφθαλμοὺς eyes ἑπτά, seven, οἵ which εἰσιν are τὰ the ἑπτὰ seven πνεύματα spirits τοῦ of the θεοῦ, God, ἀπεσταλμένοι having been sent off εἰς into πᾶσαν all τὴν the γῆν. earth. 7 καὶ And ἦλθεν he came καὶ and εἴληφεν he has taken ἐκ out of τῆς the δεξιᾶς right [hand] τοῦ of the (one) καθημένου sitting ἐπὶ upon τοῦ the θρόνου. throne, 8 Καὶ And ὅτε when ἔλαβεν he took τὸ the βιβλίον, little book, τὰ the τέσσερα four ζῷα living [creatures] καὶ and οἱ the εἴκοσι twenty- τέσσαρες four πρεσβύτεροι older persons ἔπεσαν fell ἐνώπιον in sight τοῦ of the ἀρνίου, Lamb, ἔχοντες having ἕκαστος each (one) κιθάραν harp καὶ and φιάλας bowls χρυσᾶς golden γεμούσας being full θυμιαμάτων, of incenses, αἵ which εἰσιν are αἱ the προσευχαὶ prayers τῶν of the ἁγίων· holy (ones); 9 καὶ and ᾄδουσιν they are singing ᾠδὴν song καινὴν new λέγοντες (they) saying Ἄξιος Worthy εἶ are you λαβεῖν to receive τὸ the βιβλίον little book καὶ and ἀνοῖξαι to open up τὰς the σφραγῖδας seals αὐτοῦ, of it, ὅτι because ἐσφάγης you were slaughtered καὶ and ἠγόρασας you bought τῷ to the θεῷ God ἐν in τῷ the αἵματί blood σου of you ἐκ out of πάσης every φυλῆς tribe καὶ and γλώσσης of tongue καὶ and λαοῦ of people καὶ and ἔθνους, of nation, 10 καὶ and ἐποίησας you made αὐτοὺς them τῷ to the θεῷ God ἡμῶν of us βασιλείαν kingdom καὶ and ἱερεῖς, priests, καὶ and βασιλεύουσιν they are reigning ἐπὶ upon τῆς the γῆς. earth.

11 καὶ And εἶδον, I saw, καὶ and ἤκουσα I heard φωνὴν voice ἀγγέλων of angels πολλῶν many κύκλῳ to circle τοῦ of the θρόνου throne καὶ and τῶν of the ζῴων living [creatures] καὶ and τῶν of the πρεσβυτέρων, older persons, καὶ and ἦν was ὁ the ἀριθμὸς number αὐτῶν of them μυριάδες myriads μυριάδων of myriads καὶ and χιλιάδες thousands χιλιάδων, of thousands, 12 λέγοντες saying φωνῇ to voice μεγάλῃ great Ἄξιόν Worthy ἐστιν is τὸ the ἀρνίον Lamb τὸ the (one) ἐσφαγμένον having been slaughtered λαβεῖν to receive τὴν the δύναμιν power καὶ and πλοῦτον riches καὶ and σοφίαν wisdom καὶ and ἰσχὺν strength καὶ and τιμὴν honor καὶ and δόξαν glory καὶ and εὐλογίαν. blessing.

Be you coming. 2 καὶ And εἶδον, I saw, καὶ and ἰδοὺ look! ἵππος horse λευκός, white, καὶ and ὁ the (one) καθήμενος sitting ἐπ’ upon αὐτὸν it ἔχων having τόξον, bow, καὶ and ἐδόθη was given αὐτῷ to him στέφανος, crown, καὶ and ἐξῆλθεν he went out νικῶν conquering καὶ and ἵνα in order that νικήσῃ. he might conquer.

3 Καὶ And ὅτε when ἤνοιξεν he opened up τὴν the σφραγῖδα seal τὴν the δευτέραν, second, ἤκουσα I heard τοῦ of the δευτέρου second ζῴου living [creature] λέγοντος saying Ἔρχου. Be you coming. 4 καὶ And ἐξῆλθεν went out ἄλλος another ἵππος horse πυρρός, fiery-red, καὶ and τῷ to the (one) καθημένῳ sitting ἐπ’ upon αὐτὸν it ἐδόθη was given αὐτῷ to him λαβεῖν to take τὴν the εἰρήνην peace ἐκ out of τῆς the γῆς earth καὶ and ἵνα in order that ἀλλήλους one another σφάξουσιν, they will slaughter, καὶ and ἐδόθη was given αὐτῷ to him μάχαιρα sword μεγάλη. great.

5 Καὶ And ὅτε when ἤνοιξε he opened up τὴν the σφραγῖδα seal τὴν the τρίτην, third, ἤκουσα I heard τοῦ of the τρίτου third ζῴου living [creature] λέγοντος saying Ἔρχου. Be you coming. καὶ And εἶδον, I saw, καὶ and ἰδοὺ look! ἵππος horse μέλας, black, καὶ and ὁ the (one) καθήμενος sitting ἐπ’ upon αὐτὸν it ἔχων having ζυγὸν yoke ἐν in τῇ the χειρὶ hand αὐτοῦ. of him. 6 καὶ And ἤκουσα I heard ὡς as φωνὴν voice ἐν in μέσῳ midst τῶν of the τεσσάρων four ζῴων living [creatures] λέγουσαν (it) saying Χοῖνιξ Choenix σίτου of wheat δηναρίου, of denarius, καὶ and τρεῖς three χοίνικες choenixes κριθῶν of barleys δηναρίου· of denarius; καὶ and τὸ the ἔλαιον oil καὶ and τὸν the οἶνον wine μὴ not ἀδικήσῃς. you should treat unrighteously.

7 Καὶ And ὅτε when ἤνοιξεν he opened up τὴν the σφραγῖδα seal τὴν the τετάρτην, fourth, ἤκουσα I heard φωνὴν voice τοῦ of the τετάρτου fourth ζῴου living [creature] λέγοντος saying Ἔρχου.
