HOW TO USE THIS INDEX IN WATCHTOWER LIBRARY
NAME
The full name is Watch Tower Publications Index, also called Publications Index or just Index. Its abbreviation is dx followed by the year or years it covers, such as dx30-85 or dx86-25.
How to Follow These Directions
Print these directions or open another copy of Watchtower Library and follow these directions there. In the additional copy, make sure that the two arrows at the bottom right are red. If not, click them and uncheck both bottom options.
“Click” in these directions means to left-click with a mouse or tap on a touch screen.
DIRECTIONS
The Index has two sections: Subject Index and Scripture Index.
SUBJECT INDEX
Information is organized under main headings (also called topics).
Finding Information
Type a word or phrase in the search field (e.g., Beliefs Clarified, Jehovah, Marriage) and press Enter.
If there are matches, “Reference Works” will appear below the search field. Click “Reference Works” to see main headings (topics). Those in the Index will appear to the right of “dx86-yy” (yy means the current year) or “dx30-85.”
Click a main heading, and it will open.
First, look at any “See also” suggestions at the top of the index page. Click one if you prefer it, and that main heading will open.
Look through its subheadings. Some may be grouped under “centered headings,” as you see below.

SCRIPTURE INDEX
Only verses that are explained are included in the scripture index.
Finding references: Type a citation (e.g., Revelation 21:21 or Re 21:21) in the search field and press Enter.
If there are references, “Reference Works” will appear below the search field. Click “Reference Works,” and the citation will appear to the right of “dx86-yy” or “dx30-85.” Click the citation to see the chapter and verse with its references.
REFERENCES
References are in chronological order, the most recent appearing first.
After clicking a reference, you will see the relevant text in color with surrounding material in black. (In older publications, the color covers whole printed pages.)
Some references link to multiple parts of the material. For instance, search for “Revelation 21:21.” In dx86-yy, click “re 307-308.” From the list that is shown, you can click one part or the option “Extract All These Links.”
Abbreviations (mnemonics) are used to identify publications, like “w” for The Watchtower. Find these in “Abbreviations of Publication Titles” under Index › Publications Index.
References are shown as the mnemonic followed by page number(s). If there are no page numbers, a word like article, chapter, lesson, section, or story is used to clarify.
