Na the Same Type of Sin Apostle Paul and John Talk About?
For the second letter wey apostle John write, e talk say: “If anybody come meet una and wetin e de teach no agree with wetin Christ teach, make una no let-am enter una house, or even greet-am. Because anybody wey greet this person de support the wicked things wey e de do.”—2 John 10, 11.
For 1 Corinthians 5:11 apostle Paul talk say make Christians “stop to mix with” people wey them remove from congregation. When John write say make Christians ‘no even greet some people,’ e de talk about the same type of people wey apostle Paul talk say make them remove from congregation? The people wey John and Paul talk about commit the same type of sin? No.
Na two different type of sin them talk about. Paul talk about one man wey de put hand for sex wey no clean for Jehovah eye. About 43 years later, John write about apostates. This na people wey don learn the truth but later start to spread lie-lie information about wetin Bible teach and still de tell other people to do things wey Bible condemn. For example, some de teach say no be Jesus be the messiah wey God promise say e go send.—1 John 2:22; 4:2, 3.
When John write im letters, many apostates don already dey for congregation. John know say e no go fit stop this people, but because e be apostle, e help to make sure say everybody for congregation no believe wetin them de teach.—2 Thess. 2:7.
Because of this one, John warn people for congregation say make them no allow this people wey don learn the truth but later start to talk bad about the truth to deceive them. So e tell Christians make them no ever allow this kind people enter their house or even greet them. If them greet person wey de spread lie-lie information about wetin Bible teach, this one go give-am chance to start to tell them lie-lie things. For this our time, this kind thing fit happen to us, if we comment for the websites of people wey don leave Jehovah and de talk bad about the truth or de comment for things wey them post for social media. The truth be say anybody wey greet apostate, “de support the wicked things wey e de do.”
But for 1 Corinthians chapter 5, Paul de talk about one man wey them need to remove from congregation because e de put hand for sex wey no clean. E dey clear say this man no be apostate, and e no de tell other people to do wetin Jehovah hate. (Compare Revelation 2:20.) So even though say Paul talk say make brothers and sisters for congregation no do things with this man and make them no even chop with-am, e no talk say them no go ever fit greet-am.
