The Thing Dem Da Luke Write
20 One day when he wor teaching the people in the temple and preaching the good news, the chief priests, the scribes and the elder dem came. 2 And they ask him: “Tell us, da who power you using to do this thing dem? Or who give you the power to do this thing dem?” 3 He tell them say: “I will ask yor one question too, and yor answer me. 4 Da God who in heaven send John to baptize people or da human being?” 5 But they started talking among theirself: “If we say, ‘Da God who in heaven send him,’ he will say, ‘Then why yor not believe him?’ 6 But if we say, ‘Da from human being,’ then all the people will chunk us with rock because they convince da John wor prophet.” 7 So they tell him say they not know who send him. 8 Jesus tell them say: “Myself too I will not tell yor who give me the power to do this thing dem.”
9 Then he give the people dem this example: “One man made grape farm and he give it to some farmer dem to take care of it. Then he travel to another country for some time. 10 When the time reach to harvest the grapes, he send one slave to the farmer dem so they can give him some of the fruit from the farm. But the farmer dem beat him and send him back with empty hand. 11 But he send another slave again. They beat him, disgrace him and send him back with empty hand. 12 But still he send the third slave. But they also hurt him and throw him outside. 13 So the farm owner say, ‘Wetin I mon do now? I will send my son who I really love. Maybe they will respect him.’ 14 When the farmer dem saw his son, they started talking among theirself and they say, ‘Da he the property dem will go to. So yor come let kill him and all the property dem will be for us.’ 15 So they drag him and kill him. Then they carry him outside the grape farm. So wetin the farm owner will do to them? 16 When he come, he will kill all the farmer dem and give the grape farm to different people.”
When the people dem hear this one, they say: “This kindna thing will never happen!” 17 But he look straight in their face and tell them say: “So what this scripture mean: ‘The stone da the builder dem refuse to use, da it na turn to the main cornerstone’? 18 Anybody who fall down on this stone will scatter. And anybody who this stone fall down on, it will mash them.”
19 When the scribes and the chief priests hear this example, they wanted to catch him right away. Because they knew he wor talking to them when he give this example, but they wor scare of the people. 20 And after they look at him good-good, they pay some men dem in secret to act like they righteous so da they can trick Jesus to say the wrong thing. So da they can carry him and give him to the big man in the government. 21 They ask him: “Teacher, we know da you can say and teach the correct thing. You can’t pick and choose, and you can teach the true-true thing dem about God: 22 It right for us to pay tax to Caesar or not?” 23 But he notice da they wor trying to trick him, so he tell them say: 24 “Show me one de·nar′i·us.* Da who picture and name on it?” They tell him say: “Da Caesar.” 25 He tell them say: “So yor mon give Caesar things back to Caesar, but give God things to God.” 26 So they wor not able to trick him to say something wrong in front of the people. But they wor really surprise with the answer he give, and they not say anything.
27 But some of the Sadducees who not believe in the resurrection, came and ask him: 28 “Teacher, Moses write da, ‘If somebody brother die and he not born child, his brother mon marry his wife and born children by her for his brother.’ 29 We know about seven brothers. The first one got marry, but he not born any children and he die. 30 The second one marry her, 31 and the third one marry her too. Da the same way all seven of them marry her. They not born any children and they die. 32 In the end, the woman die too. 33 So during the resurrection, who wife she will be? Because all seven of them marry her.”
34 Jesus tell them say: “The people dem in this world* can marry and be husband and wife. 35 But the people dem who God will allow to live in da world, and who will come back to life will not marry. 36 In fact, they can’t die again, but they will be looking like the angel dem. And because they will come back to life, they will be God children. 37 But when it come to the people who die coming back to life, even Moses talk about it in the story about the thornbush, when he call Jehovah* ‘the God for Abraham, the God for Isaac and the God for Jacob.’ 38 He God for people who living and not for people who na die, because all of them living to him.” 39 So some of the scribe dem tell him say: “Teacher, the thing you say correct.” 40 Because none of them wor brave to ask him any question again.
41 Then he ask them: “How come they say the Christ da David son? 42 Because David hisself say it in the book of Psalms, ‘Jehovah* say to my Lord: “Sit down on my right hand side 43 until I put your enemy dem under your foot.”’ 44 So David call him Lord, then how come he David son?”
45 Then when all the people wor listening, he tell his disciple dem say: 46 “Yor be careful with the scribes. They like to walk around in fine clothes and they like for people to speak to them special way in the markets. And they like the best seats in the synagogues. And when they go to party, they like to sit down to the place they keep for important people. 47 And they can take the widow dem properties,* and they can make long prayer just to show theirself. Their punishment will be more than the other people.”
