Jesus Stop Strong Breeze Inside Sea

Jesus don use the whole day preach. When evening reach, e tell im disciples sey: “Make we cross go the other side of the river,” wey dey opposite Capernaum.—Mark 4:35.

E get one big area for the east side of the Sea of Galilee. Dem dey call this area the region of the Gerasenes or the Decapolis. People for this area dey follow Greek people tradition, but many Jew people still dey stay there.

People see Jesus as e dey comot from Capernaum. And other boats still follow am. (Mark 4:36) The Sea of Galilee be like big freshwater lake. E no too far to cross. E long reach about 13 miles (21km). And for the place wey wide pass, e wide reach about 7 miles (12 km). But the water deep.

Jesus na perfect man, but body tire am because e don preach well well. So after the boat start to move, Jesus come go lie down for the back of the boat. E put im head ontop pillow and start to sleep.

Many of Jesus apostles sabi control boat, but this journey no go easy for dem. Mountains surround the area, and the top of the water for the sea dey warm. Sometimes, cool breeze wey dey blow from the mountain go meet the warm water wey dey top of the sea. This one dey cause strong breeze for the sea. And na wetin happen be that. E no tey waves come dey push the boat anyhow. Water come dey enter the boat. The boat want even sink. (Luke 8:23) But Jesus still dey sleep!

As the strong breeze dey disturb the boat, the apostles come dey try control am with all the experience wey dem get. But things different this time. Because dem dey fear for their life, dem wake Jesus and tell am sey: “Lord, save us, na die we dey o!” (Matthew 8:25) The disciples dey fear sey the water go kill dem!

When Jesus wake up, e tell im apostles sey: “Wetin make una dey fear, una wey get small faith?” (Matthew 8:26) Jesus come command the strong breeze and the sea. E sey: “Shsss! Quiet!” (Mark 4:39) The strong breeze come stop and the water come quiet. (The book of Mark and Luke first talk the miracle wey Jesus do to stop the strong breeze, before dem talk about the disciples faith wey no strong.)

Think how the disciples feel when dem see wetin happen! Dem see how the sea wey dem dey fear just settle. One kind fear just come enter their body. Dem come dey ask theirself sey: “Who e really be? Even breeze and sea dey obey am.” So nothing happen to dem, dem reach the other side of the sea. (Mark 4:41–5:1) E fit be sey the other boats wey enter the water don go back to the west side of the river.

E really give us mind to know sey God Son get power pass things like water and breeze! When Jesus go dey rule this earth, everybody go dey safe. That time, things like strong breeze no go cause problem again!
