“Listen to Correction Make You Get Sense”

Proverbs 3:11, 12 talk sey: “My pikin, no hate Jehovah correction, and no trowey am. Because na people wey Jehovah love e dey correct.” We know sey Jehovah want wetin good for us. (Read Hebrews 12:5-11.) Because God really know us, e dey correct us well, and e dey give us the kind correction wey we need. 6. If we want dey study Bible well, wetin go help us? (Go check the first picture.)

⁶ If we dey pray, dey study Bible and dey settle down think about wetin we don learn, e go still help us learn how to control ourself. But what if e dey hard you to study Bible? Or you no just like to dey study? Get am for mind sey Jehovah ready to help you if you allow am. Jehovah fit make im Word dey “hungry” you. (1 Pet. 2:2) The first thing wey you need to do na to pray make Jehovah help you fit study Bible. As time dey go, e go dey easy for you, and you go dey enjoy am! 7. If we dey control ourself, how e go take help us do wetin we plan to do for Jehovah?

TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN FOR JEHOVAH WAY

8-10. Wetin go help papa and mama fit train their pikin well? Give example.

⁸ Na papa and mama Jehovah give the work to train their children. And e want make dem use im way take teach and correct dem. (Eph. 6:4) E no easy for papa and mama to do this one for this world wey we dey. (2 Tim. 3:1-5) When dem born pikin, e no dey know wetin good and wetin bad. But e get conscience. So papa and mama need to dey correct am so that im conscience go dey work well. (Rom. 2:14, 15) One book talk sey the Greek word wey dem translate as “correction” fit mean “to train pikin.”

⁹ If papa and mama dey sofri correct their children, the children go feel sey their papa and mama love dem. Dem go know sey person get where e suppose do reach. And dem go still know sey good thing or bad thing dey come out of anything wey person do. E really good make papa and mama follow wetin Bible talk when dem dey train their children. People for different place get how dem think sey e good to train pikin. And as time dey go, wetin dem think about the matter fit change. But if papa and mama dey listen to Jehovah, dem no go try wetin dem think sey go work, and dem no go think sey dem go fit do am by theirself.

¹⁰ Noah example fit help us. When Jehovah tell Noah make e build ark, Noah no know how to build am because e never build ark before. So Noah do everything wey Jehovah tell am. (Gen. 6:22) Wetin e gain? The ark save Noah and im family! Noah na better papa wey help im family because e follow wetin God talk. E teach im children well, and e show dem good example. E no easy for am to do this one because the world bad well well that time.​—Gen. 6:5.

11. How papa and mama fit show their children better example?

¹¹ How papa and mama go take do everything wey God talk like Noah? Na if dem dey listen to Jehovah and allow am to help dem train their pikin. Make dem dey follow wetin Bible and Jehovah organization talk. If dem do this things, their pikin fit thank dem later for how dem train am. One brother talk sey: “I like the way my papa and mama take train me. Dem do everything wey dem fit do to make wetin dem dey talk reach my heart. The main thing wey make me fit stand well for Jehovah side na how my papa and mama take train me.” Na true sey some children dey leave Jehovah even after their papa and mama don do everything wey dem fit do to help dem. But if the papa and mama don already try their best to help their pikin, their conscience no go worry dem. Instead, dem fit hope sey one day their pikin go come back to Jehovah.

The sister sey: “I come dey look for excuse for our book dem so that I go fit spend time with my daughter and im pikin. But my husband sofri help me. ¹⁴ Jehovah promise sey e go protect im people, take care of dem, and teach dem. And na different way e take dey do am. For example, e don put the congregation for im Son hand. And Jesus don choose the slave wey dem fit trust to dey teach us. (Luke 12:42) This slave get many way wey e take dey direct us, and correct us. You don ever hear something for talk, or see something for our book, wey make you change how you dey think and behave? Na better thing sey you follow wetin you learn! ¹⁵ Jesus still dey use elders to take care of Jehovah people. (Eph. 4:8, 11-13) Wetin we go do to gain from the work wey elders dey do? One way na to copy their faith and their better example. Another way na to follow the advice wey dem dey give us from Bible. (Read Hebrews 13:7, 17.) Remember sey elders love us and dem want make we near Jehovah. For example, dem dey quick help us when dem see sey we no dey come meeting like before. And if our mind no dey Jehovah work like before, dem go quick help us. (Gal. 2:11-14) Wetin we fit do to make elders work easy? Dey carry body down, no dey make am hard for dem to talk to you, and dey show sey you value any advice wey dem give you. See the things wey dem dey do as something wey dey show sey Jehovah love you. If you do this one you go gain am, and e go make the elders happy as dem dey do their work.

17. How elders take help one sister?

¹⁷ E get one sister wey think sey Jehovah no love am, and e come dey hard am to love Jehovah. Na wetin don happen to am make am dey think like this. The sister sey: “My mind no settle because of wetin don happen to me and other wahala. I know sey I suppose go meet elders. So I come go meet dem, and when I dey talk to dem, dem no talk to me anyhow and dem no judge me. Dem tell me better word wey make me strong. And no matter how the elders dey busy reach, some of dem must ask me how I dey after meeting. Because of wetin don happen for my life, I dey feel sey God no go fit love person like me. But Jehovah don use elders and people for congregation to help me see sey e love me. E don do this one many times. I pray make I continue to hold Jehovah tight.”

WETIN PAIN PASS ANY CORRECTION?

18, 19. Wetin fit pain pass any correction wey dem give person? Give example.

¹⁸ Na true sey if dem correct person, e dey pain. But if person no take the correction wey dem give am, wetin fit happen to am na im dey pain pass. (Heb. 12:11) Make we talk about the example of Cain and King Zedekiah. When Cain want kill Abel because e hate am, God warn am sey: “Why you dey vex like that and why you no happy? If you start to do good thing, I no go show you favor? But if you no start to do good thing, sin dey door dey wait for you. The sin want control you, but you go fit control am?” (Gen. 4:6, 7) Cain no hear word. E allow sin control am. And e suffer from the bad thing wey e do. But if to sey e hear word, this kind thing for no happen to am. (Gen. 4:11, 12) If Cain take the correction wey Jehovah give am, e for no pain am reach the suffer wey e suffer because of wetin e do.

¹⁹ Zedekiah dey weak and na wicked king. Things no easy for Jerusalem when e dey rule. Prophet Jeremiah warn Zedekiah many times make e comot hand from bad thing, but e no take correction. And the things wey happen because of wetin e do, bad well well. (Jer. 52:8-11) Jehovah no want make we suffer like that.​—Read Isaiah 48:17, 18.

20. Wetin go happen to people wey take God correction and people wey no gree take am?

²⁰ For this world, many people no like the correction wey God dey give. Dem no dey even like to control theirself, or correct theirself. But small time, anybody wey no take the correction wey God dey give am, go suffer put. (Prov. 1:24-31) So make we “listen to correction” so that we go “get sense.” Proverbs 4:13 talk sey: “Hold correction well, and no let am go. Keep am well because na your life.”
